They are posting and voting direct to the blockchain using the cli_wallet.

Why are the fucking passwords (and private keys for signing transactions) stored any where except on the user's private wallet on the user's computer. Probably because they wanted the system to be easy to login from any computer the user might change to. So probably they have a process where you can take control of your private key if you are sophisticated enough. But this is what happens when you make a way for users to earn and hold $1000s and give them a default private key mgmt that stores it on the corporate server. Another reason that their retarded quadratic skewing of payouts in order to make all users jealous and irrational, has another bad effect that it weakens security.

Wow, that's unfortunate for those folks who were trying to post true content and some got lucky to get fake votes and reward.
I must say, nicely done finding this exploit. Hope they will fix this or revert some fake votes, if possible.
Otherwise, people who are already using it might loose faith. After all, application is hosted on some server, even though backend is decentralized/blockchain. It can still be vulnerable, be hacked in future, isn't it?!

How do you know it is a hack? And why are people buying like stupid even when hacked?
Steemi need a full website with support and also a topic on bitcointalk to assest with support problems. I have had on going problems for the last week and still not resolved for mining. Unable to mine due to getting following error after sync of blockchain.

Cleared and wiped out and started fresh and continues to repeat the same error above each time. I was mining fine until things got hacked and went bonkers. No irc support no email no slack this getting out of hand. Think am just going to close shop on this due to the fact theirs no support from devs or any support team what so ever. Had high hopes for this coin that is no so been destroyed to the point if no support and resolved voer weekend or coming week I quit this.
