Yep, it is a hard sell to convince people to lock up their assets in a two year distribution period.This is crypto, Who wants to lock up their assets in a high risk altcoin scheme? Especially when the only "benefit" is to get higher voting power for potential curation rewards. Unfortunately, the amount of curation rewards are so paltry right now, they do next to nothing to mitigate the risk.

Maybe there can be an "index fund" of these media coins like Steemit, LBRY, Synero, etc. It would be at least an interesting web portal. Alternative media always needed a lot of support. LBRY talks about having big media save it, I think maybe it should think about growing from the ground up. Word of mouth from people who are being benefitted by it.

Surprised it's not more popular yet it's only a matter of time. Reminds me a lot of buzzfeed when they started.

Just look at the founders wallet - throwing 110,000 STEEM on the exchanges... and thats just ONE wallet actively powering down.

Why would anyone buy Steem on the exchanges? Even the founders are powering down and make +15k$ a week from a single account.

Many people are working with STEEM, but I doubt everyone is happy to deal with compiling sources and running the steemd (which is a real resource hog), so there should be other methods too?

But I suppose this will need the account's full WIF key..? I remember when I tried to log in into Steemit.com using my account's main key, website rejected to log me in, and suggested I use posting-only key. then I was able to logging using "posting" key, however no financial operations were allowed then.

I will try once more, maybe I am missing something...

Yes, you can login only with posting key but when you will try to do financial operations it's will ask you for active key.
