If you get table starter, you don't get your krill rakeback too for those hands.
rdbase- to the best of my knowledge, that is incorrect.  I believe you get krill rakeback for any hands that you also receive table starter.  I could be wrong, but I feel pretty confident (like 81% confident) that I have played weeks where I *ONLY* did table starter, and I still received my krill rakeback.

But hey, I drink a lot!  Who knows!?

Wow, Dark Days.......I didn't realize all of that but that does make sense. What do you mean by double rakeback?  If you get table starter, you don't get your krill rakeback too for those hands.

I still don't understand how they say they're losing money. The promotions doesn't add up to the rake.  Bitcoin is high so the rake they make is higher value wise.  It doesn't seem like they're putting money into software development on other platforms so what exactly are the expenses?  I love the site and would hate to see a site with so many different games including OFC go out of business.

Everything is done in btc, so when they rake more (USD wise), they also pay more in bonus' and rewards.

In addition to the freerolls and cash game lb, they also pay out double rakeback to most cash players and have to cover the overlays from tournaments.  Any money they make they have to pay for hosting, DDOS attack protection, developers, and possibly a monthly fee to Grid for using their software.

I may write code in exchange for bitcoins.
I'd still come back if they ever made software that works on Android or GNU/Linux.

possible that they are just doing the bare minimum to keep it afloat in the hopes that bitcoin takes off and they can turn a profit (since they pay expenses in fiat but get profits in btc)

or to sell it

but I'm sure there's a lot of related info I don't have on the situation too.

I think it's a fair assumption that the current owners feel that it is a losing property (back when they were posting here they said they were losing money on SWC and traffic has only gone down since then).  It's possible that they are just doing the bare minimum to keep it afloat in the hopes that bitcoin takes off and they can turn a profit (since they pay expenses in fiat but get profits in btc).  The sad thing is, if they actually put some effort into marketing, they would probably do very well.  They are really dropping the ball on this.  And any fears about legal persecution are ill founded since there are MUCH larger sites operating MUCH more publicly that aren't getting harassed.  You just can't be an idiot and publicly put announce that you are living in NV and running an offshore site every single day.

They need to hire a pokerroom manager/marketing manager.  They pay out nearly 10k/month in rewards and promos and get nothing out of it, they could pay a portion of that to one or two individuals and start seeing some results.

*edit* and YepImNaked- IMO, you have been great for the SWC community, both on and off the tables.  GL to you as well.

Thank you!  I love the site and the community.  It's the most fun I've had playing online since before BF.  I have to admit that I've been a bit frustrated to watch the site stagnate over the past year.  I feel like there so much they could do to grow, but I'm sure there's a lot of related info I don't have on the situation too.  I'm trying to work up the motivation to start streaming again one of these days  :-)  Hope to see you on the tables soon!

Well, I have an affiliate account, but it isn't exactly a breeze to recruit new players these days.  I understand that I am no longer an active member, so I am not an online backbone for some people, but when I talk to people in person about it (which is quite often), it isn't easy for me to be excited about the SWCpoker like I was years ago Sad and that is a shame.

Yeah, their social media game completely fallen off over the past few months.  They haven't responded to my affiliate emails for several months either.  However, my deposits and cash outs have been going through in a timely manner, just like they always have.  Seems like maybe they just don't have anyone to man certain "stations" or something, but the most crucial parts of the site continue to operate smoothly.

On a side note, the 12-game mix has been running the past few days, which is great!

In 2013 when the price rose there was an increase in the number of players.  Maybe the dynamics are different now, I have no idea.

More promotion would be nice but in the end they do their thing and I do mine.

I had a slight hope that this bitcoin price surge would attract some people back to SWC, maybe some old players who had vanished for a while ...
But each time I log in, there are very few tables playing.  It would be nice to see SWC try some sort of promoting again (I know this has been said many times) ... there were holiday free rolls, weeks of double and triple krill, etc, and now it seems there is nothing new (or even old-but-it-works) to draw anyone in.

Happy Pokering.  Hope everyone is well.

Rising price means less interest in general because coins are more expensive (thus more prohibitive) for non-bitcoin fanatics.  And the hardcores want to horde their coins because they think the price will go to the moon.

They need to market the site to poker players but for whatever reason they refuse to.  They haven't been on forums or social media in weeks but clearly people are running the site and payout out rakeback and krill LB, so it's very confusing why they don't put a small amount of effort into growing their business.

I'd play there pretty much every single day if I wasn't afraid that the software would crash in the middle of my open face games.
