Can anyone comment on how well or what split the affiliate offer is?

I recall reading swcpoker.com gets several new people looking to play all the time but they never reached a deal to buy it. That is likely the #1 source for new sign ups. I bet within months youd have XXX% more players and so on. WHy didn't they offer the guy an affiliate thingy?

How stupid can you be to not own/affiliate that name.

How stupid can you be to operate in the United States with Verisign which is an American company, when you're doing something that is illegal in the United States?

I may not be remembering correctly, but I believe he was asking an astronomical price (IMO) for the domain.
But hey, I drink a lot, so who knows!? Smiley

I read back and you are correct him and Micon had a fight but I also read and it seems with a little research it has had around 2 new owners since.

They should offer an affiliate or something to the newer owner. So weird how no marketing is done and they wouldn't want all the natural type in traffic which leads to sign ups, like not working with them is spiting yourself. Maybe Ill go buy it and sign up for affiliate Smiley

Ego=Losing Money in this case.

Yes, SwC made an offer that was more than fair but he wanted a ridiculous amount.

I don't think it would have been worth more to them than what they offered either.  There's a reason they didn't use the .com domain from the start - the same reason every poker/gambling site that accepts Americans does not - they don't want to use a domain that can be seized.

See http://Bodog.com and why they now use Bodog.eu and Bovada uses .lv

I think at this point most players are used to every major site using a .eu/.ag/.whatever and not a .com

But yeah, if the current owner or a new buyer wanted to sign up for an affiliate account and make money forwarding people to SwCpoker.eu they probably can.

The Mini Smooth has been growing and averaging like 20+ players a night.

It has an interesting and unique structure where the blinds go up a couple chips every minute.

I don't usually play myself, but there isn't a huge selection on any site late night so some people might be interested.  There's also usually a 10 chip outlast pool run in the lobby chat.

Today, a non-holiday Saturday, the following tournaments failed to run:

20 chip deep turbo
15 chip normal
25 chip deep turbo
20 chip 6max

50 chip super stack
30 chip late deep turbo
25 chip spooky stack
50 chip smooth

Making the site basically nonviable for any player who wants to play >$4 MTTs.  I feel that we need to have the site participate in discussions and think of some new ideas to encourage existing users to play if we can't encourage new players to deposit.  The fact that the site's staff isn't doing anything to fix these problems (in fact they've done the opposite by cutting a lot of the gtd's), isn't communicating with it's users/prospective users publicly, and is slashing guaranteed lifetime rewards is troubling.
What would you suggest the site do? There's a limited pool of potential BTC poker players. They can't lose money on gtd tournaments just to make existing players happy if the overlays don't attract new players. Not attracting new players is a problem, but how do you propose they go about it?

I've offered free advice to them in the past and they've ignored it.  But the solution is simple.  Better (any) marketing, more accessible software, better promos, better structures on tournaments.

ANY marketing indeed!

I've only been back on the site for a month or so, but glitch seems pretty responsive in regards to the tournament structures. Just recently, tournaments were added to fill in the gap late night. And an imbalance related to limit game stakes in multi-game tournaments was corrected.

I'm not sure the structure of tournaments can be improved much. Certainly the blind levels are on the short side, but they are appropriate for the size of the fields that actually play. I don't want to play what are essentially 1 or 2 table tournaments with 15 minute blinds. The time commitment would be cumbersome given the relatively small wins.

★YoBit.Net★ 350+ Coins Exchange & Dice
Such a sad state of affairs for this site, really do not understand why they did not address the web based platform out the jump instead of dying slowly from people not being able to play on this site. Now that so many sites are established it may be to late to turn the ship around and get people interested in SWC once again. Cry

I was a longtime player when the site used the Mavens software. There are some aspects of the new software which I find annoying, and the lack of web, linux and mobile clients is disappointing. I'll play for now because I have confidence in the ownership and staff. I am hopeful the dev team can improve the product.

I can't seem to get online every time I launch the software. Keeps trying on connecting . Looking at all these problems why don't you guys just go back to the old software ? I don't play no more as I can't do so in a web based client. I don't understand the decision in leaving out on all those players just to upgrade the software which makes almost no change to the number of players on the site, except for seeing a massive decline.

EDIT : I have decided to go play someplace else right now. Saying this because it should make you realize the importance of changing the software back to the old one or bring in a web client for the new software. Else you guys will likely just lose players.

I'm basically in this same boat.  It totally blows my mind that they don't seem to understand the importance of the web-based client and login for the casual player.  I think they underestimated how much their universal accessibiliity was an asset to them in the old setup.  People said that mavens sucked,  I dunno, it worked.

unless you have  krill for freerolls, or don't mind risking a small amount in fortified tournements, or even if, best to just avoid the site.
I actually do have some krill from years ago.  But I don't have any expectation anymore that I'll ever get to use it again.

Frequent software crashes screw up games all the time.  Elsewise, some tournaments don't restart at the end of a break, but go into 'negative time' and who knows when they will restart.
Yah, apparently the software is problematic.  I have no idea as I've never gotten it to run.

Also, I think it is rigged at open tables.... new handles show up, and call pot raises all the way that they never should, and suckout on the river.
Well, there it just sounds like you're describing texas holdem poker.

When you do get chips, take everything off the table that you won't use in tournements, no telling how long the site will be live.  It may not be wise to go there at all.
FWIW, the old sealswithclubs owners were very good at making account balances available to users with nonzero balances when they closed.  I tend to suppose the new owners would do the same thing, but then again, I never leave large amounts of bitcoin on any site/service.

The same precaution about not leaving chips around because who knows when the site will dive may apply to other sites that you visit.
Indeed.

Oh no it's rigged because I lost money when somebody sucked out on the river against the odds.

It happens on every site and it's a good thing Wink

Yes there is the occasional crash but I can reset it within one hand by closing the program and reopening it which takes 20 seconds.  Although I haven't experienced the bug in the tourney break timer it was there when the software was running on Grid Poker who developed it.  The crashes also happened on Grid.
