do these things default to a 127.0.0.1 address when no DHCP SERVER to assign IP addie???

Sure!  Wink  (please don't beat me, but many people will start to realize that this is a good joke)

root@Saturn-C78:~# ifconfig -a

but this will not help you. Ask your windows PC which IP addresses it has. You might wonder.

So anyway,

How many rigs are going out today?

Is everyone still confident that they will ALL be delivered (to the courier) by Tuesday?

At what point will the confidence begin to waver?

- Only KNC knows, not enough for sure
- Absolutely not, they'll be done shipping batch #1 towards the end of the month (hopefully, not very confident on that)
- For me was like 2 weeks ago, but to late to request refund

Thing is, no matter how late they are, all customers agreed that KNC can ship even 100 years late while you're not entitled to request refunds for orders they claimed to be sent for completion at the manufacturing facility!

"The delivery date is provided for information purposes only and shall not be binding on KnCMiner. The Purchaser is not entitled to refuse acceptance of the Products, withdraw, cancel or revoke the order or make claims for compensation due to any delayed delivery."

This is slowly turning in to a trainwreck.

September came and went, we are almost halfway october, most customers still seem to be waiting. Hosted miners were reportedly running at only a tiny fraction of their hashrate, and are not running at all now. Alarming levels of DOA. One customer had 5 out of his 6 jupiters catch fire (!).  Software and firmware clearly not ready for primetime.

I really enjoyed following orama's "behind the scene's" reporting (seriously, they should have made a full length documentary, I would have paid for watching it),  I wont fault KnC for lack of trying, and of course, we have seen much worse execution, but I think we can safely say KnC's schedule was once again way too optimistic and they started shipping too soon. These problems could have been avoided.

Not sure how or when this one will end, but Im already looking forward to seeing the next trainwreck unfold with hashfast.

well according to this calculator http://www.bitreturn.com/ I have approx. 825gh from KNC..1 Jupiter and 1 Saturn.....anyway the calculator I list here if I don't get all my stuff before Oct 31st or 15 days late.....I will not make ROI. So I hope this calc is wrong....

Searing

You will "make" ROI for sure, but probably negative.

yeah I misspoke and yes in the NEGATIVE

well I just wonder if it is only going to be a "big boy" game ie giant server farms for BTC and all done with shares.....can BTC get its feet underneath with all the 'miners' that have been promoting this coin in the past not being able to play anymore or being pushed out......or will they simply "walk"  to another alt currency (ie start over) with the result of all ALT coins being a 'niche' market and never main stream..ie pump and dump?    will all this drama and lost interest by miners llet BTC flatline and eventually fall/fail?..ie...will this whole ASIC miner fiasco of BFL and this risk is all on the "miner" with no consequences for the developer of the asic equipment (ie consequences if not on time like bfl being Nil? basically doom BTC and perhaps all alt coins ...I know it will lose its thrill if all I'm doing is making the facebook twins rich....

the above combinations singly or individually above is to just represent the "theme" ie only so much a group of folk promoting BTC can take in promoting the coin even if it is more a hobby or quest....

again I know zip of what I'm talking about here just throwing it out there....(ie treat me as the first pagan you met on your missionary mission ie explain to me why this would not be very very BAD..

Well the hosting service seems to be down.  After a day of 100GH/s mining with a 500GH/s device the service is now down completely, I'd say we are still having issues.

edit...
It went down right at 8am Sweden time, so I'm guessing the data center is undergoing some sort of maintenance.

Anyone get a status change on their order that is not Day 1 or Day 2 with a pay date later than June 18th? sbfree, did you ever get a status change other than "in progress"? You're the latest order I've seen so far. I wanted to keep the shipping log updated, but have jack squat for good data. KnC CS is nice, but don't know what the factory is shipping at the moment.

Thanks in advance!

I just checked my acct. on KNC, still 'in progress' and no emails. Arousedrhino, i believe was in around 19xx, and in progress, has said he received tracking number...i think his pay date was june 18th (not sure though), but item hasn't actually moved....

arousedrhino, clue us in, thanks.

Pay date was June 6th and I have seen movement, its in Germany right now, expected delivery on Friday the 11th.

this connected to cable modem

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122326

and this as wireless extender near the miners with ports

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122454

works like a charm - pair stuff up and they seem to work simpler
Yeah I'm using a similar setup with a netgear WN device I think since hardware is upstairs and router is down.  Works great.

Not seeing too much of anything on people getting notices on miners since last night ...have things hit a SNAG?

Hopefully people are just playing with their new toys and not posting 'out the door' info is all

wondering

I now have the miner plugged directly to the laptop, which has access to the wifi...alot less garble, but still see no ip for the miner...

Close. Now try plugging it directly into the router.

Dude if you haven't a dhcp server installed on your laptop there's no way your miner will get an ip address in this configuaration. Are you sure there is dhcp server running somewhere on your lan?

they dont come with static IP

go to a router that doles out IPs  (uses DHCP)
it will take about 20 seconds once plugged in and then the miner will have an IP from the router

then go to the router and check out what's connected to it

it sounds like you have some hotspot card plugged into your laptop that aint gonna help you.  If you are doing that kinda of stuff, you need to beef up your networking kung fu
