Yay - it means on 30.06.2014 they route hashing power of all 4000 Neptunes to their paid customers Wink
Which they no doubt now see as a drop in the ocean of what hashing power they will have online by then...

... my interpretation of all this is not entirely negative. I still think they have good intentions. Quick shot on most possible scenario:

- Neptunes late (they already know that right now)
- Compensation starting with free 3Th starting April/ May/ June for batch 1/2/3
- Finally delivered Neptunes have to compete with additional 10Ph from their farm... which sucks bigtime

To be honest, 3TH for free for batch 1 customers in April sounds very attractive to me. Hick-Hack on Jupiter Sales/ Moduls on the other side sucks for the guys who planned to buy some....

Don't think April.

They said Q1/Q2. End of Q2 is june. You'll get your hash at 1st of july....
Exactly. They've had to think long and hard how to make them delivering Neptune late sound good to people.

Offering people 3TH starting from the date they originally promised to deliver Neptune is, err, quite an amazing "bonus"  Grin Not.

They will already be hashing with those machines before that date, meaning the customer appreciation batch will be just about as worthless as the batch 2(3), as the bitcoin difficulty will have already risen to account for this hashrate. So instead of having a few weeks and seeing earnings decline, you'll start out with the declined earnings and knc will have cleaned up any profits there to be made already. "Bonus"!

Well they basically mislead Jupiter/Saturn/Mercury customers and caused them to delay making other purchases.

They have had their factory going full tilt likely making 28nm cards that they have no intention of selling to the customers that got them off the ground unless they bought into their next generation of devices (thats a big FU in my book)

I remember when we were supposed to be compensated with coins during their October problems last year.  It never happened.

They offered the gesture.  They didn't have to.  I guess we'll wait and see...

What does more than 1000 core count mean?  4.5TH for a Neptune now?

192 Cores are making 175 Gh/s is 0.911 Gh/s per core for that is

1000 Cores = 911 Gh/s per 1000 Cores

4 Board´s with each 1000 Cores = 911 * 4 = 3.644 Th/s

It sound really good.

What is the most plausible theory for more than two months of silence re Neptune despite apparent discontent of customers?
Here is my speculation on possibilities (from the most probable #1 to almost impossible #5):
1. They are experiencing significant difficulties with Neptune design and want to overcome those problems before updating.
2. They are positioning to change their business model from selling individual units to the "fair shake" cloudhashing model, where customers will be buying slots in the icelandic super-mine managed by KnC. Everyone who ordered Neptune would be offered a slot with a modest increase in hashing power (to 3.5-4TH), but will have to pay extra for "hosting".
3. They were bought by someone or majority bought by a third party (perhaps even by a government-controlled entity).
4. They were bought/invested into by 21e6 (or merged with 21e6). Alternatively, they were supplying Jupiters to a single unknown party (cloudhashing?).
5. They are resting on their prior success and "taking it easy".

1. No
2. Perhaps
3. No
4. No
5. No

It may not be outside the realm of possibilities that they have other projects they are working on?

Free hashing for what exactly speed??

at this point, I am surmising from their statement that if you order a neptune/s, at 3TH each, then you are now definitely guaranteed an 11% increase in hashing power.

Yes, he said 11% power consumption reduction, but then he said they stuffed 11% more hashing power back in....ok ok not engineering speak and it probably isnt a perfect trade either...but I am guessing NEPTUNES now coming in at around 3.3TH/s, so that is what they most likely will provide SO FAR for each Neptune. I think.

"Over the next few months we are bringing online enough hashing power to make sure that any delay in the Neptune timeline will be compensated with a completely free hosted hashing packages to all fully paid customers.

In the addition to this commitment, as part of Plan B, for all Neptune customers, we will be offering a free conversion to a hosted hashing package where we will simply fill your wallets directly and you won’t have to worry about anything else. All the other costs taken care of by us."

Does that means customers can opt in for free hosting for Neptunes?

Trying to wrap my head around it.

(total speculation) They are positioning themselves to be the dominant player in bitcoin generation/transaction validation.  Notice that they don't detail the amount of time that they will host your miners in their facility... presumably if you opt for this hosting package then you get 2 years (or so) of hosted hashing after which, you no longer own the device.  Once that happens, they will own the lions share of the hashing power and have an unlimited number of 20 nm chips they can toss out on the network whenever they want.

Genius plan.

It's about pure centralization. Worst than Ghash....

Good new´s or bad news  Wink Shocked Huh

If they really offer every Neptune customer free hashing power inside the world largest Bitcoin Datacenter
then they have to produce for at first:

1200 * 3000 Gh/s = 3,600,000 Million Gigas or 3,6 Ph/s (is that right?)

Means also that when they sipped to customer´s of closed batch one, the customers of batch 1 official will get
the free hashing power and so on.

But when they really plan, and somthing with the timeline goes wrong they have to build 7,2 Ph/s in this new
Datacenter.

could someone with better reading comprehension please tell me what the are doing with respect to network protection for pre-Neptune customers?  i only see 'perks' for Neptune customers in this, but i only have one coffee in my system so far.

they took all their 28nm production towards neptune and cloudhashing and drank jupiter owners milkshake

I call this bad news.

So they are building a massive mining farm for themselves (probably already partly built) and if they are late they give us coins.
Sounds good until you think what late really means - until the end of 2nd quarter of this year, so end of June.

They have not defined precise meaning of the word late, so what they say means absolutely nothing.

They never mentioned whether they were selling upgrades so I asked that question explicitly,

If the answer comes back NO then I am done with KNC.

They caused me to delay, spend money I didn't need to and I am not a Neptune customer and don't plan on being one.

agreed..  even if you are first in line for neptune and get a bunch of Th..  what is the context?  Will a Neptune even make any money after all the hashing dust settles?

And what is late? Q3?   If you don't get a Neptune early Q2 you are pretty fucked anyway..  so if they mean late is Q2 then you should be fine

"Over the next few months we are bringing online enough hashing power to make sure that any delay in the Neptune timeline will be compensated with a completely free hosted hashing packages to all fully paid customers."
Can't people read the word DELAYS??

This means if they deliver in Q3/Q4/2015, you will get compensated with hashing power from their datacentre and they won't charge you for the hosting/electricity.

It seems they know for certain Neptune will be late (Q2), if they are promising this now.
