can anyone post here the big logo of knc minerS??? Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Perhaps KnCminer noted it was seeing such a large fraction of miner buys with money that was transferred from bitpay after a transfer from MtGox that as long as MtGox is showing frozen US BTC, KnCminer won't sell more upgrade boards or miners.

 Undecided

Be aware that you cannot change your shipping address.
KnCMiner doesn't allow to change it, nor do they allow pick-up for Neptunes.

Quote
(...)
Unfortunately we are not offering local pickup option for the Neptune orders.
All orders will be shipped with UPS.
(...)

In case you want to host your Neptunes somewhere else than your original shipping address, you have to resolve this on your own with UPS.
And exactly in the timespan AFTER the label has been printed and BEFORE the package has been picked up by UPS.
That's what UPS customer service told me.

Further they strongly recommended that the sender should modify the destination address, instead of me modifying the destination after the label has been printed. Because it's more administrative overhead and it might fail if UPS-internal eMails are not read in time or other things go wrong.
The lady one the phone could not really believe I'm not able to get it send to another destination address, especially if the label has not been printed until now. Seems like it is not very usual that a company refuses to do so.

Now this is performance Smiley
How did you get the power usage so low?

that's not at the wall..  which is why a lot of these miner comparisons aren't accurate.

that is the power usage of the mining boards to achieve the hashrate they give.

I pull an extra 60 - 80w at the wall which is down to the fans and control board i would guess

I don't see how they could pull it off by March 20 (end of winter-many countries count end of winter by Spring equinox), unless they did a lot of work without informing anyone-it would be a first for KnC, but probably a logical progression in their evolution. I sincerely hope for both batches zero and 1 in April.

What do you guys use for PDU and cable for PSU? PSU can handle 240V, but I see that power cable that PSU are supplied with depends on where you buy PSU and in US it is a 125V/15A cable. How this would work if PDU supplies 208V after being connected to a 240V socket (dryer or oven)?
Sorry if it did not make sense-electrical engineering is quite far away from my knowledge base.

Show me where it says they will be shipping the Neptune in "Q1", I have only seen Q1/Q2 and it go to Q2. So having it say  Q1/Q2 doesn't mean it will actually ship in Q1 it means it MAY ship in Q1. So your argument isn't valid.

They said closed batch 1 will ship around a month before open batch 1 which will ship around a month before batch 2 which will ship Q2. So they have indirectly said that closed batch 1 order will ship at the latest april if everything goes as planned. Not quite Q1 but very close.

Also, there's this interview: http://www.coindesk.com/kncminer-pre-orders-next-asic/
Where it's written: "The new boxes, which will ship “end of winter/early spring”, according to co-founder Sam Cole". Winter is defined as december to february, and I can't imagine "early spring" means crossing over to Q2. However he also said: "adding that all specifications given to CoinDesk are pre-release and subject to change."

The vernal equinox and the first day of spring is on March the 20th in the northern hemisphere - http://www.almanac.com/content/first-day-spring-vernal-equinox - Q2 starts on the 1st of April.

At what point did KNC's "Q1/Q2" ship date become, either implicitly or explicitly, a Q2 shipdate.

He said 'KNC said', i haven't seen them say anything on their website nor via email in quite a while now

When Orama explicitly said they were still in the design phase for the chip, and it was later state 'early design phase'. This removes Q1 as a possibility simply due to the reality of design->test->verification->foundry->packaging->KNC

This was discussed several pages back.

I'm not trying to be an asshole but that does not mean "KNC said" as was stated earlier.. It's may or may not be logical based on where they are but it's not a statement they ever made, state the facts as they are..

Given the realities of the chip design and manufacturing process, you have exactly two options:
(1) You can accept the analysis that if the chip is in the early design process today, the finished Neptune miners won't actually arrive until sometime in Q2.
(2) You can accept that KnC is currently misleading people when they say "Q1/Q2".

There isn't a third option. "Hope that they can somehow cram the entire chip design and fabrication process into a month or two" isn't on the table.

So, ~3TH for 10,000$ in 'Q1/Q2' is currently up against ~2TH for $6,000 in may (And a sold out batch of 2TH for $6,000 in april), is this correct?

Plus these other ones like bitmain/antminer/etc

Sounds like you forgot to read the fine print on the Neptune rig info!!

Knc - (we reserve the right to increase this as we get closer to shipment)

We are not closer to the shipment yet so your comparison between 3TH/s and 2TH/s isn't valid, PERIOD!

Cheesy

It's still a worthy comparison. KNC already said Q1 shipment wasn't going to happen, so it'll be Q2. Most households won't support the machine running more than 3TH, so if you go by that metric then the Neptune is about $1100 more than the CT model (3k/th).

While the Neptune should likely do 5TH, it'll be only in homes with upgraded power panels or commercial spaces.

A better comparison would be who's shipping what right now without preorders, and sine December, Chinese manufacturers have been shipping tons of hashpower out. KNC hasn't. So, KNC 0, Others Many.

Show me where it says they will be shipping the Neptune in "Q1", I have only seen Q1/Q2 and it go to Q2. So having it say  Q1/Q2 doesn't mean it will actually ship in Q1 it means it MAY ship in Q1. So your argument isn't valid.

Anyone who has had a refund on the neptune know if the 3-10 days starts at when you request a refund, or from the time when they state refund "in transit"?
