What is happening with captain, he is really struggling to get his batting rhythm for a very long time. Sad
Virat Kohli was in top form for a long time and it is not that rare to see some batsman struggle once in a while and he is collecting some ducks in this series against England. I was expecting India to play better but England is dominating and they have a really strong team and by looking at the score of 106 for the loss of 6 wickets in 18 overs it is hard to believe we will see any recovery in this match. After a disappointing Test series England is back with the T20 series Grin.

I believe its doing exactly opposite. Don't look at the auctions but list of capped players, fair amount of domestic players gets picked by franchise on their base price. Its a win win situation for both parties, players gets to share dressing room with the world class players, coaches etc.

We shouldn't forget that Bumrah, Ashwin, R Jadeja, Pandaya brothers, Sundar , Chahal, Chahar Brothers are IPL products, list is big. Some players gets fast track (Bumrah, he didn't play 1st class) and some takes their sweet time (Axar Patel).

Edit

Eng vs Ind

And Rahul is gone.. India : 2/1

Edit 1

Now Kohli is gone, poor form continues... Grin   3/2
Yeah, IPL produced some great players even Suresh Raina found after playing for CSK I guess but how many talents remain unnoticed?! that's is what I am thinking about.

Pathetic batting from team IND after losing the toss to ENG.23/3 and in that Pant scored 16 runs and still in the crease!

What is happening with captain, he is really struggling to get his batting rhythm for a very long time. Sad

Yes, the remaining matches were rescheduled to take place by June. There are people who are much interested with PSL than IPL for few reasons. Nowadays IPL has a long list of matches and it runs for atleast two months of time. With PSL the tournament gets over within a very short time period with less number of matches. However it is ones own interest and I'm much into IPL than PSL.

The reason is that IPL features the best players from all around the world. As a franchise T20 league, it is far ahead of its competitors. BBL of Australia could have given good competition to the IPL, but Cricket Australia's refusal to increase the salary cap and overseas player quota negatively impacted the league. PSL has the potential to grow in to something big, but it is relatively new compared to the other leagues.
But IPL itself killing the young talents of India in my opinion, because first class career is pretty much important to get selected into the national squad but now people who got featured in IPL franchise alone given chances while most of them from first class remain unsold or even unnoticed due to player and budget cap limit for every team.

Guys, we have news regarding the PSL. There was a meeting between various franchises and the PCB, and it was decided that the tournament will resume in June 2021. Actually this is good news, as the PSL schedule doesn't clash with the IPL 2021. However, from what I have heard this time the PSL will be conducted in just one city (Karachi), and Lahore is dropped as one of the venues. The reason being given is that the month of June is peak summer in Pakistan, and climate in Karachi will be milder when compared to that in Lahore.

@Stedsm this is a hilarious series to be honest, but I’m enjoying it more than watching the IPL and I hope going ahead they’ll arrange more such series for us. Also Dilshan was an outstanding batsman when he used to play for Srilanka, and lastly even I was surprised that he hasn’t lost his touch despite not playing competitive cricket for a very long time now.

Well, while I watched their highlights online, came to know how spectacularly Upul Tharanga played a 99 not out (felt bad for him as it was just 1 run left for his century, but still what a game). It'll be awesome to watch India Legends vs South Africa Legends and I'm more interested in watching the game of trio of Sachin, Sehwag and Yuvraj.
The match will be very interesting, because Sehwag is already in good form. In his previous match against West Indies have helped chase 150 scoring 74 runs in 57 balls. South Africa Legends vs India Legends match will be a close call, because both teams have highly experienced and skilled players who have got the ability to turn the match towards any direction unlike the match situation.

Tillakaratne Dilshan, along with Kumar Sangakkara were the last of the legendary Sri Lankan batsmen. After they retired, there was no one to replace them, and that is the reason why Sri Lanka is in a terrible state now. Their peak came in 1996, when the trio of Sanath Jayasuriya-Arjuna Ranatunga-Aravinda de Silva along with Muttiah Muralitharan helped them to win the world cup. After that they have been in continuous decline.

Sare bhuddhe pagal ho gaye hai Grin Grin. Not watching but keeping tab on score.

Last time i checked Irfan, kevin Pietersen, Taranga, Dwayne Smith etc were beating the shit out of every bowlers everywhere.

I watched a match yesterday between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh (I mean, when Bangladesh came at batting). The way Tilakaratne Dilshan played on the field was mind-blowing, even after holding such age he didn't look like gone old, but young as ever. I'll be following more games now as when I watched the oldies trying to make interesting catches like youngsters, I believe this series will be an interesting one. Wink

Anyone following the Legends series, i find it hard to predict and the only match that i find easy to place a bet is the matches against Bangladesh. India played well in the first match without loosing any wickets and in the second match against England they failed to chance the score and today England is  struggling against South Africa and they are shuffling the team members and it is the puzzle Cheesy.

During the 90s, world cricket was much more competitive. Nowadays, matches are more lop sided with Big 3 + New Zealand dominating over the other teams. However, back then also Bangladesh was a very weak team. Compared to them, Kenya was much better (Steve Tikolo, Maurice Odumbe, Thomas Odoyo.etc). And South Africa was one of the top sides. Even Zimbabwe had a number of great players, such as Andy Flower, Heath Streak, Neil Johnson.etc.

There are many conflicting reports, some had adverse affect when they had the vaccine and went into comma and it is a truth that even with vaccination you will be infected but the doubt everyone in the medical fraternity is having is whether the vaccines are successful against the different strains of virus that are seeing around the world and the virus is mutating faster than expected. I am yet to get vaccination as i am not sure whether it will harm me or help me in countering the issues and the only way is taking precaution and not get infected.

Every sporting teams are careful and knows the impact and hence they are making sure they create a bubble while conducting the tournament as any positive exposure means heavy losses and even bankruptcy if the tournaments are postponed.

I think the issue occurs when the vaccine is administered to someone who is already infected with the virus. Most of the available vaccines are of the RNA or viral-vector type. They use genetic material from the COVID-19 virus, in order to initiate a response by the human immune system. For someone who is already having the virus, this can result in a lot of adverse side effects. Another issue is that the virus is rapidly mutating. Some of the strains from Brazil, UK and South Africa are having higher mortality.

The BCCI is not going to gain anything by allowing the spectators. On the other hand, it stand to lose a lot in case the players get infected.

Another reason might be the vaccine, but there are news report which confirms people are still getting COVID19 after completing the vaccination.

^^ I hope they don't. Empty stands looks bad but there should be no spectators in any hot zones, especially Mumbai.

Mumbai getting fair amount of IPL games this season despite their covid problem, only shows that how powerful Mumbai Cricket Association is IRL. On the other hand we have state board like Hyderabad, who like to mess things up and then cry.

Maybe due to the influence from the Mumbai Cricket Association, or maybe due to the influence of Nita Ambani who own Mumbai Indians. Ideally I would have liked the IPL restricted to just one city. What is the point in conducting the tournaments across so many cities, when the crowd is not allowed? Why can't they stage all the matches in juts one city, may be Bengaluru, Chennai or even Lucknow, where the number of cases are low? These cities do have multiple stadiums, so it should not be an issue.
Ditto!

There is no gate money (in case of empty stands), no additional benefits and no home advantage for any franchise. In case they were to stage all games in one state then it could have been Gujrat without any doubt, only because of new Motera stadium (Modi Stadium). It can even hold double header on weekend easily and i think they do have fair amount of good stadiums as well.

BCCI governing body needs to reconsider their decision but, there is so much politics involved in Indian cricket that the board members might be helpless. I think they want to show the world that they are capable to conduct the tournament all around India in this pandemic situation. Another reason might be the vaccine, but there are news report which confirms people are still getting COVID19 after completing the vaccination.
So the new strain is capable of making the people inflected? Its more dangerous than I thought. But government is not imposing any lockdown like what we had in the initia stage of spread which means the cases are going to rise continuously. I do agree with that empty stadium because atleast everyone can watch the IPL on AIR instead of completely missing out.

Apart from the Motera stadium, there are dozens of international standard stadiums in Gujarat where the matches could be conducted (obviously we need 4 at the most). There is the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium at Ahmedabad which is located in the same city as the Motera Stadium. The IPCL Sports Complex Ground in Baroda has also hosted international matches, but it is located some 100 km away from the Motera stadium.
