The problems with the BCB and Shakib Al Hasan is not new and there was a hurdle which was an unwanted news headline for getting the permission to play the IPL as Bangladesh has scheduled a Test series in the following months and his request to play the IPL made some confusions for some in the board and i guess it is sorted by now as he is currently in India preparing for the IPL.

IPL is extremely important for all those players who are a part of it, and that is the reason why most of the cricket boards don't schedule any bilateral series during that period. I don't know how viable it is to block two months of the international calendar every year for a franchise T20 league. But in the end, all that matters is money. And BTW, I heard that BCCI want to expand the IPL to a three-month tournament from 2022 onwards. I am not sure how much comfortable the other boards will be with that decision.

This is one tour that Bangladesh will want to forget as it was a very poor performance in all formats of the game. We all know that New Zealand is a top team but I didn't expect to see Bangladesh play so poorly. They lost every match and not only that they were beaten badly in every match which I didn't expect to see, I would of thought they would at least challenge New Zealand in a couple of matches but nothing. Its like watching the Bangladesh teams from when they first came into International cricket, that's how poorly they played on this tour. Lets hope they can bounce back and start playing some good cricket again.

Bangladesh team had the lack of a proper leadership during this tour. There was no good combination between the players. Most of the players have performed very badly in all matches. Though Bangladesh isn't good in T20 games, but their performance should have been more better than they did. Miss field (dropping catches) was one of the notable bad performance by them.
The problem is not about leadership, it is about finding young talents who could perform in fast pitches and they need to search for genuine fast bowlers if they need to start winning outside the subcontinent. The team usually win matches with the help of their spinners and once the pitch is not assisting them they start to struggle and that is evident from the series and obviously they need to improve tremendously in their fielding department as well.

My assumption is that the issues between BCB and some of the senior players are having a huge impact on the team morale. Latest news is that the BCB is not allowing Shakib al Hasan to participate in the IPL. I don't know whether this is true or not. But in case it is true, then it can be very demoralizing. After all, for a player of the calibre of Shakib, IPL can be the most important revenue generator. And it's not like he's ignoring the national duty. He is making himself available all the time.

Bangladesh has played terribly badly in the entire series. I didn't expect such a bad performance from them. Although the New Zealand team is much better than the Bangladesh team. Still, I expected Bangladesh to win at least a few matches. They played well enough in the last match. But there is no player in the Bangladesh squad who can win the team by batting for 171 runs in 16 overs. I won't expect them to win the last match, I hope they will lose the last match by fewer runs.
I'll not be surprised they get Whitewash tag as like ODI series. These are worthless series up until this point and every one of the matches are one sided. Bangladesh Cricket are getting down and down. Their key players Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal and Musfiqur Rahim are missing and it's completely demonstrated in the field. Thus, we can't expect anything special from this squad.
Hahaha, Bangladesh loses today's match too. I doubt that Bangladeshi players really know of what is they playing! Their batsmen are failed to score, bowlers completely incompetent, fielding is just disgusting. I don't remember the last time I saw such bad fielding. Bangladesh coach Russell Domingo completely failed to perform well with the team. Haturusingha was much better than Doming's.
I don’t know why did you’ll think that Bangladesh had any chance against New Zealand in this series, because in my personal opinion they were absolutely poor match after match. Furthermore Bangladesh should go back to the basics and try and improve their game, because they do have the potential and all they need to do is tap into it.

I don't think Bangladesh had any chance against New Zealand. But I thought they would win at least one match in ODI and T20 format. Honestly, I didn't really expect Bangladesh to play so badly. No match was competitive. All the matches were one-sided. As the days go by, the performance of Bangladesh team is getting worse. Some players are performing poorly in every match. Youngsters can be given a chance as their replacement.

That's what happen when 1 franchise release their players and other goes for the same players with the bidding war. Mumbai Indian has clever management, they identify the talent before anyone else and buy them at fair price. They even got Bumrah cheaply, close to 1 million and compare this with other bowlers like Unadkat. MI never released Boult-Bumrah-Malinga, you can imagine if somehow they release Boult-Bumrah then those 2 will surely attract another bidding war, same goes for poor Hazelwood.

Kyle Jamieson price is high so he needs to perform really well for the RCB otherwise he's not going to fetch another big contract next year.

This is very unfair for players such as Boult. He would easily get upwards of $1 million, if he goes for auction. But since Mumbai Indians got him very cheaply (many years back), he don't get a chance for a higher salary until the full auctions occur. And who knows? By the time a full auction happens, his form may decline and no one may bid for him. Look at Kedar Jadhav. His price tag has come down from ₹8 crore to ₹2 crore (which is not surprising actually).
Let's see what happen in the next auction, which is big one and if i'm not wrong then majority of players would be on table to grab except retention quota. Back then Kedar Jadhav was in demand, i remember his couple of excellent innings against the England -Australia and when bowling he used to be a Indian team golden arm too, so his past and present price tag is based on demand supply.

Will CSK replace Hazlewood?
If yes, then whom you think is a good replacement?

Do they need a replacement? Hazlewood is a good bowler, but he was underutilized during the last season (played just three matches, and took one wicket). They have good overseas bowlers in Lungi Ngidi and Hardus Viljoen. And regarding local players, they have Shardul Thakur,  Deepak Chahar and KM Asif. And also they have Harishankar Reddy, who recently took the wicket of MS Dhoni in a practise match.
But only 4 overseas players allowed and CSK is not interested in giving a spot to the foreign player which is clearly visible so Hazlewood or Lungi Ngidi may not take a regular spot in the playing XI unless the pitch assists pace and bounce. They also Bought Gowtham in this season but I am not sure he is having a spot even in this season but lets see when the tournament starts then only we can see the strategies of MSD.

Covid making players life tough in the bio bubble. 2 Australian players Josh Hazelwood and Mitchell Marsh pulled out from this IPL season as they have been part of different bio secure bubble on and off for the last 1 year.

Josh Hazelwood is part of the CSK, guess now they might stick with the Chahar-Ngidi combination.

Jason Roy replacing Mitchell Marsh in SRH. This is fine back up for SRH as Jason Roy was in good form against India in T-20s.

I was expecting this.. LOL.. Hazlewood's contract is worth just $280,000. It looks like a pittance when we compare that to the contracts for other pacers such as Pat Cummins ($2,200,000) and Kyle Jamieson ($2,100,000). So he is not losing much if he pulls out of the tournament. IPL auctions surprise me sometimes. Take Mumbai Indians for example. They have Nathan Coulter-Nile who is contracted for $700,000 per year, and Adam Milne, who is priced at $480,000. But the first choice overseas pacer is Trent Boult, whose contract value is just $310,000.

There are some serious issues in the relationship between the Bangladesh Cricket Board and some of the senior players. This is in turn having a very negative impact on the prospects of the national team. Also, it is worrying that the country is not producing younger players of enough quality, to replace these ageing players. Even now the chances of a Bangladesh victory drops to near zero, when Shakib al Hasan is not playing.

It was good to see Bangladesh show some fight in this match however it still wasn't enough to get the win. I thought they bowled well early on to keep New Zealand batsman from making runs but they couldn't stop the partnership of Phillips and Mitchell which helped New Zealand reach a decent total. Bangladesh did fight back strong after losing the first early wicket but after the big partnership from the second wicket stand they basically couldn't put big enough partnerships together to win the match. At least they showed some fight which they can take into the third and final match.

This was perhaps the best performance by Bangladesh so far in the tour. Their bowlers still conceded runs at a rate of almost 10 per over, but when they came out to bat they gave some issues to the New Zealand bowlers. Soumya Sarkar batted exceptionally well for his 51, although I thought that he had the responsibility to stay there and guide the team to a victory. But once he got out, the Bangladesh chase just folded up. So only one match remains in the tour now, and I just hope Bangladesh will be able to win that one.
