They have one quality spinner Chahal and in Banglore's ground, they won't need the second spinner. So they must invest in quality fast bowler.
They even had Starc in their squad but it didn't change any changes in their history. Currently, RCB is loaded with young Indian talents like Sundar, Chahal, Siraj, Saini, etc but the one pace bowler is certainly missing who can clock 150kmph but due to the small ground it also end up bad for RCB. I think this year they need to invest on a good opening player which is the one lacking for them and Kohli and ABD come to the crease too early which shattered their entire plan.

CSK drawing all the attention here in this thread. Please do think about Virat Koolli too Grin  You guys should give some footage to his team too  Wink. Star players, 13 IPL seasons still no Trophy for RCB.
If you are leading the team and never won the title, you need to change the captain and let AB de Villiers lead the team, they already released Aaron Finch, Chris Morris and Moeen Ali which i think is a big blunder and i am not sure who they will be picking, may be they might look for Glenn Maxwell, but he never performed well in the IPL.
They need a quality spinner and a new ball bowler that could contain the runs.

In parallel world Kohli would never utter the words like Behan Chod aka Ben Stokes but he's product of Delhi and if i am being completely honest then its ingrained in majority of Delhiites, men and women. The ones living in foreign land crave for something, which is related to their land and when its comes to cricket then its common word which unites everyone. Even Dravidian who hates Hindi due to political reasons love the word Behan chod in the cricketing field, i witnessed this every now n then on daily basis.

Having said that Kohli is panuti for RCB and Indian team, no doubt but give some credit to this spoil brat for uniting us.  Grin

He is kind of cursed when it comes to captaincy I think especially in IPL, nothing goes in his way even if he is giving his 100%!

They got the star players and also bought T20 specialist batsmen in the past but they were wrong most of the time.

RCB swapped too much players from season to season so there is not much of chemistry between the new players so they end up badly.

One should never expect good thing from any franchise if there is no accountability from the Captain and management. He's fail every time as captain still his ego is so big that he's not even thinking of stepping down as captain and management doesn't have a spine either.

Gambhir, Ashwin, Sehwag, Smith, DK, Rahane etc we have countless examples but no rules for Kohli.

LOL.. what do you expect from RCB? Even the BCCI doesn't have enough courage to replace Kohli with Rahane as the test captain for the national side. And here you are talking about the possibility of such an action coming from the RCB management? The chances are very remote. In all probability Kohli will be the captain of the RCB squad for the next 5 years and he will handpick the playing XI.

At least in the case of RCB, the emerging players are having a better chance to get the national team selection (thanks to Kohli/Shastri). RCB used to be one of my favorite teams when the IPL started in 2008. But a combination of various factors, including bullying from Kohli at the field and poor sportsman spirit from the players made sure that I no longer support them. As long as Kohli remains the captain, I don't expect them to win the trophy.

Bravo was doing exceptionally well in the death overs and if the last season laid in the Chepauk then it could be a different story because CSK got the players to bowl in that slow conditions so I don't think CSK will remove the Bravo from their playing XI in this season.

Bravo is more of a bowling all-rounder and hit big sixes in the last few balls and he was match-winner for CSK on many occasions.

There is no doubt that Dwayne Bravo is one of the legends of T20 cricket. But similar to what happened with other West Indies players such as Chris Gayle and Andre Fletcher, age seems to have taken its toll on him. Now it is the turn of younger players such as Nicholas Pooran Shimron Hetmyer and Evin Lewis to take the legacy forward. 36-37 year olds may perform well in test cricket. But in T20 cricket, it gets tough for them. Even Indian players such as Dhoni, Kathik and Uthappa struggled in last year's IPL.
CSK known for playing with the oldest squad among all the franchise which is also one of the reason why they were consistent because they know each other well so they can play accordingly. We know that this year CSK is going to make some changes in their squad so they will keep players like Bravo in the playing XI to maintain the dressing room to be familiar, making too much shuffle also can cause more damage to the team when they were playing.

Right now it will be premature to say whether Bravo will be a permanent fixture or not. CSK is already playing with so many players over the age of 37-38, and Bravo is another addition to that list. I am sure that during the upcoming auctions they will try hard to purchase some of the younger emerging players. Once we know the team roster for 2021, it will be possible to calculate the chances of players such as Bravo and Tahir.

Exactly, but even retaining Bravo was not a good idea I guess. He has not performed well in 2 seasons in a row now. CSK has Jadeja and Curran who fulfils the role of all-rounders. They could have targeted a good seam option in place of Bravo.

Bravo got injured in the early stages of last IPL season that is why he got ruled out for few weeks but later in the stage, he was included and at that time CSK already lost their hope of getting into the qualifiers. I don't think he was injured after that so he will be completely fit to play for CSK.

But only 4 overseas players are allowed to play so Faf, Curran, Bravo can be considered as permanent players so there is only one spot left which means this year also Tahir has fewer chances if CSK planned to buy a specialist's fast bowler or opening batsman. IPL 2021 is not too far away from now because it is expected to begin in the last week of March 2021.

Faf du Plessis and Sam Curran are like guaranteed slots in the playing XI and the only question is regarding who will be the other two overseas players. Dwayne Bravo played only 6 matches for CSK in 2020, and his performance was unimpressive. And after the IPL, he is yet to figure in a competitive cricket match. Same goes for Tahir as well. He also had fitness issues and played only a few matches during the the last IPL.

^^ He's in the squad but didn't get to play many games in the last season as bryant.coleman mentioned above. This year they released Bhajji and Chawla so may be he can get in the playing XI. Santner is left arm spinner- batting all rounder, they already have Jadeja as left arm spinner -batting allrounder.

Seems FTP cycle is main reason, nonetheless good decision by BCCI

Then again you need 4 overseas players. Chawla and Bajji are not there so i am not sure if they going to opt for 2 overseas opener (Faf-Roy). Faf,Curran and Bravo(if he's fit) seems fix. They should go with the another overseas bowler in the squad, on spin track Tahir/Satner and on fast may be Hazelwood/Ngidi.
Faf and Gaikwod seem the possible choice and curran or Bravo should stay in the middle order because they are capable of hitting big shots so in the later part of the innings they should be helpful when chasing huge scoring rates.

Tahir is still in the squad? He is a best bowler but age factor should be a real concern since he is going to be 42 IIRC so better replace him with santner, he is good with bowling and can also go for some shots if it is needed.

BCCI only discussed about 10 teams IPL in recent meeting so yeah increasing overseas players in playing squad proposal is in cold bag for good. Guess they are not interested in this idea.

Bravo recent decline is because of fitness so its understandable. Tahir is old but he's very much fit to play in T-20 format.

The rumor is that the IPL 2022 will be a 9 team affair.

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/ipl/top-stories/bcci-likely-to-add-only-one-ipl-franchise-for-now-industry-backs-move/articleshow/80321379.cms

Quote
The BCCI may restrict the Indian Premier League (IPL) to only nine teams for now, apropos of the general body "approving" the ITTs (Invitation To Tender) for two new franchises. In the BCCI's Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Ahmedabad last month, the members had given approval to the inclusion of two new franchises in the IPL.

And regarding Tahir, I agree that he is one of the good options available for CSK. But with a limit of 4 overseas players, CSK will try their best to include Indian spinners in their lineup (if they get some good purchases during next month's auction). Tahir didn't played much in IPL 2020 (he was included in the playing XI for just 3 matches) and that indicates what the team management thinks about him.
