^^ If any State or politician pushing this shitty idea in this critical situation then i would like to see them sitting among the crowd along with the BCCI official.

Since the gate collection amounts for a smaller proportion when compared to the other franchise leagues, the BCCI may be aiming for conducting the matches behind closed doors (i.e without any crowd attendance). But then, who will guarantee for the health of the players, match officials, workers at the stadium.etc?

In one of my earlier posts, I had supported Australia going ahead with the preparations for the T20 World Cup. But that was just because the pandemic situation in Australia is under complete control. On average, they have 10-20 new cases per day, compared to 4,000-5,000 in India.

If South Korean league can start, why can't they start the IPL in the same way. They had zero spectators in the stadium. The same principle can be applied to IPL.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/live/2020/may/08/korea-k-league-watch-live-stream-free-jeonbuk-v-suwon-bluewings

BCCI should look into this option. I do not think the government of India should have any issue, they have already started easing the lockdown. In my opinion after 17th of May if the lockdown is removed. BCCI should conduct the tournaments.

The situation in India is very much different from what they have in South Korea. There, the pandemic has peaked, and on average they are having 5-10 new cases per day. Here in India, the peak is yet to be reached and we have around 4,000 new cases per day. Under these circumstances, it will be suicidal to stage the IPL anytime during the next 2-3 months. As I mentioned earlier, the best option is to cancel this year's tournament.

Lol do you even know, how many cases in South Korea? They almost finished Corona from South Korea, that's why they started some sports events. In India we are even not reached peak, how can we start any sports event?

There are states where the virus has been controlled to an extent. I think BCCI can look into those regions. Anyways the government has already started asking the citizens that they have to live with the virus, why not gradually start with sports. They have already given ease to most businesses now not to forget alcohol in particular.

Is sports that important in India that people can't live without it ?
Common on, there are more important things than sports in this pandemic situation.

Same is the case with Pakistan. The problem with both countries is that people will begin to die from hunger if the lock down is not lifted. Our government has also ease the lockdown from 9 May and this may give some jobs/business for the people but it can also make the corona cases rise all of sudden. And cricket, just forget about it for the time being.

I can confirm that Australia is in a good situation right now as the cases have been under control for weeks now however we are coming into our flu season which could see a spike in cases if the government starts opening up which they are talking about. Time will tell if Australia is able to keep it under control if they start to open up for people to start going out again.

That's great news. So there is still a chance that the World Cup would proceed as planned. Not just Australia, but New Zealand also managed to contain the infection levels. Australia is witnessing just 10-20 new cases per day, while for New Zealand the figure is 1-2 per day. And this comes at a time when the pandemic is spreading rapidly in most of the Southern Hemisphere countries.

Time will tell my friend as both Australia and New Zealand are heading into the winter months and as we know this could cause a spike in cases in both countries. I think more so for Australia as like I said the Government is looking at easing the lock down in stages which doesn't seem right to me with winter coming and the flu season but they want to get the economy going again. I do hope we see the T20 world cup played as planned but I have my doubts.

Hopefully if we get the vaccine in coming month itself the chance rises very quickly to be held it the way it is scheduled. But if days keep passing by without the vaccine and more delay will just put this world cup under the threat and postponement will be the only option left.
As right now we all are living we can say this Twenty/20 world cup is going to be postpond because its very rare chance of vaccine in near future and its going to take some time and CA and ICC both will not take any risk about this so good thing we will able to have this world cup in February which is not bad at all.

If the T20 world cup will be moved next year how they are going to manage to schedule everything and what about the series that were scheduled, will they move those series or abandon everything and continue with the fixture.
Every match, series or any circus will be moved automatically. let's say cricketing world think that year 2020 never came in the first place.

I remember prior to start of 2020, even few years before everyone was aiming for the year 2020. I remember that Dubai was going to held the biggest expo in 2020 and many other countries planned well ahead of 2020 but all of these dreams of nations were ruined by Covid-19. It look like everything is in a pause or on hold in twenty twenty, including the twenty twenty matches.

I wish we could have a reboot button to start all over again and stop this shit virus from spreading. I am frustrated sitting inside my house for nearly 42 days now.

I have finished most of the Netflix and Prime series. If cricket could have been played I would have enjoyed the lockdown with out any frustration watching the IPL.

LOL.. Imagine my condition. I don't even have a Netflix account.  Grin

Not a big fan of these web series... and I found Amazon Primevideos much more exciting. But nothing can be more frustrating than not getting to watch any live cricket action. I just hope that the T20 World Cup would proceed without much issues. As of now, the situation looks really gloomy. But who knows? We still have 5 months to go for the scheduled start, and Australia is really faring well as far as the pandemic situation is concerned.

I consider the end of this is only now vaccine and till the time we do not have the chances will be far less only even if OZ say has a very good situation. Thing will not be open on such big platform when it involves to players of the world and with so much crowd gathered. Also, news as such does not look anything positive that it will end soon.

@Vella85 I’ll second that as Australia has managed to bring down the infection rate from 20% to just 0.5%, but what worries me now is the fact that they’re easing up on their restrictions. Furthermore with the winter season kicking in and the restrictions being relaxed this is a scary nightmare for all the cricket fans, because if the cases continue to spike out there then it’s quiet possible that the T20 World Cup will be cancelled.

Yes that is what is worrying me as well my friend. The Federal Government now wants to open up Australia but in stages, the strange thing is that he is thinking of doing this just when we are coming into our flu season here and winter so in a way it doesn't make any sense but he is thinking more about the economy right now which is why he wants to start opening up. I do think we'll see a spike in cases which then could put the T20 world cup on hold, its going to be interesting to see what the Australian Government does in the coming weeks.

You cannot continue with lockdown until a vaccine comes out as no one know when it will. People are struggling more under lockdown. People need to learn to live with the virus.

Good job by the Australian government in curbing the virus spread. Other countries are still struggling to control it.

It was double meaning statement.

First msz "No cricket will be possible this year" was related to Year 2020, which sucks.

Second msz "They were right when they said that 2020 will destroy cricket" Its old saying which every test cricket lover use from time to time that, how 20-20 format destroyed the test cricket.
