With regards to your discussion on Scotland's ability to consistently compete against formidable teams such as India, Australia, and others, I get it dear. Actually, I honestly do not think Scotland is still capable of doing that. They might get one or two upset here and there. But other than that the performance is not going to be consistent against bigger opponents.

No upsets so far in ICC Men's T20 World Cup Europe Region Qualifier. Italy came close to one, but in the end Ireland managed to scrape through. Jersey also put up a tough fight against Scotland in their second match. Apart from these two matches, this tournament has been very one-sided so far. I had a lot of hopes from Italy, but they went down against both Scotland and Ireland and will not be able to qualify now. Germany, Danmark and Austria were pathetic. They were handed down heavy defeats in almost all of their matches.

Jersey is a relatively new team. They just started playing. As such, their performance also felt like that. Jersey team has played 13 matches according to current ICC ranking. But it will not be easy according to the current situation.

European teams are slowly getting the limelight that they deserve. The reason is simple ICC has started giving them the recognition that they deserve and their boards are now more focused than they were in the past. Why these boards are now focused because there is too much money in stake now. I checked the last year Google trends and was suprised to see T20 world cup and IPL being the most searched events. IPL is already bigger than many football league as of now and the way it is going it might become bigger than English premier league. The reason behind two of the worlds biggest populated countries watch IPL, the first one being India and the second one being Pakistan. India has already surpassed China to become the most populated country in the world and Pakistan is the 5th most populated country as of now. A lot of Indians and Pakistanis have settled in these European countries which is why cricket is getting the recognition that it deserved in those countries.

^^^ Apart from Scotland and Ireland, Italy was the only team who had the capability to qualify. But their chances took a hit when they lost the first match against Ireland. It was a close match and Italy floundered a rare chance to defeat one of the full member sides. And this time, Italy had a squad that was mostly comprised of natives. Out of the 11 players, I could count only 2 expats and other 9 were natives. On the other hand, Austria didn't had a single native in their squad, while Danmark only had 2-3 natives.

BTW, the ICC Men's T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific Qualifier is also taking place at Port Moresby. A total of 4 countries are taking part and Papua New Guinea is likely to secure qualification from this region.
