The performance of Bangladesh against New Zealand in home conditions has been commendable. Consequently, there is a strong belief that Bangladesh holds a good chance to prevail in the upcoming series. Notably, Bangladesh has an impressive track record against New Zealand in the ODI series hosted in Bangladesh, having achieved notable victories and even securing whitewashes. Such achievements foster optimism for the forthcoming contest. However, it remains uncertain if Bangladesh will emerge victorious due to current issues within their cricket team. Rectifying these problems becomes imperative for any real possibility of success against New Zealand.
Let's see what can they do in the New Zealand tour. Although all the statics will be the against of Bangladesh if they played on the outside of their home ground.
There is no doubt that Bangladesh are very strong at home ground with any team, but I was disappointed with their performance against Afghanistan in odi format. Although the T20 series win gave some relief. But I think in terms of wins in the New Zealand series I think the New Zealand team will be ahead of Bangladesh, maybe it seems that Bangladesh is coming back as a whitewash. I will not blame any issue within their team for this, because it has happened before. But as a Bangladeshi supporter I hope they played some good performance on this series to recover the previous performance.
The recent performance of Bangladesh is a big reason for concern. If they cannot win against Afghanistan, how can they win against bigger opponents like New Zealand, India, and Australia? Of course, there are problems in the Bangladesh cricket team right now. But that is not an excuse. That can never be an excuse for anything.
I also think that Bangladesh are also putting the senior players on a pedestal too much. It is okay if they do that with Shakib Al Hasan and it was also okay if they did that with Mashrafe Mortaza. But doing that to every senior player is probably not the right thing. Honestly, I do not think Tamim Iqbal is actually deserving of the captaincy of Bangladesh. Probably they do not have a good replacement for him and that’s why they are doing this. But they should concentrate on producing players, who can replace them instead of trying to think they are going to perform forever
