Hello JJ!
Sorry, I have not been following the conversation here, I don't know if it has been discussed.
After uploading an image and copied the BB code and leave. Maybe after 2days when I return to upload another image, I'll still see the BBcode of the previous images I uploaded in the text field.
Any special reason to make it so?
It takes my time figure out the previous images and delete them or to know the current one to copy.
Is the only solution to hit the Reset button at the top right corner?

This must happen, because your browser creates and historic a cookie of your visit to the website.
The site has no cookie system, but the browser is free to create whatever history it wants, based on the user's settings. That's the only explanation I have for something like this to happen.

I don't think file name change should be related with metadata, that is information within file itself and it can be removed with some exif cleaners even if filename stays the same.

Another question, what happened with image file resizer?
I think I remember there was an option to enter new size manually before clicking the Upload button.

Then. I also see no harm in keeping the same name, but some users have asked to change it.
Now, I'm in the dilemma of choosing a shape!  Roll Eyes Undecided

When you select the image, it generates a thumbnail, clicking on the image opens a pop-up to edit the image size. Wink

From now on, all uploads will be named by names randomly assigned by the system.
I hope this makes it easier to avoid metadata in the image name.  Wink

Other users, what do they prefer:
- original name + random
- random
Random name upload works just fine for me.

How about 2 distinct upload buttons?
"Upload keeping file names" and "Upload will create random file names".

I have to look into that possibility. I will have to analyze.

Suggestion: do file names need to be this long? Imgur had very short URLs, which saves space, and even makes it possible to quickly type them.
One argument for long random names would be to prevent users from guessing the link, but your backup .zips make that possible anyway.

It really makes sense to try to reduce the number of characters. I'll see what I can do about that.

I'm curious: how much bandwidth does Bitcointalk's image proxy consume from your site?

Calm down, I will share this data at the end of the month.  Tongue
But this month the data will also be a bit inflated because of the image migrations made by users.

What happened here?
directly, I get this:
Quote
The image "https://talkimg.com/images/2023/05/11/TRD-copy2c3b017b31752bf10.png" cannot be displayed because it contains errors.
But if I download the image to my computer, it works fine.

First of all this image works normally:

https://talkimg.com/images/2023/05/11/TRD-copy2c3b017b31752bf10.png

Then the links of the images placed in this post do not have "https", that's why this error occurs.
Either it was the user who didn't use the link correctly, or for some reason the wrong link was issued. Maybe in server migration, something might have happened.

I have everything set to work on "https" and that's the base it should work on. The proxy doesn't fix links, so if the user types "http" it won't convert to "https". By the way, if you don't put "https" in the link, just put "www" the proxy won't recognize the image.

EDIT:
That said, I'm in doubt: when users create a topic, don't they check if everything is working well?

I hadn't realised the images hadn't been ported.  (I haven't read this thread for a few days now, so I wasn't up to speed on where the old image restoration was at).

I ran the Ninja script a few times as the code was perfected and presumed all of my images had been uploaded.  That must be one of them.

Thanks.

I can't seem to locate it on the talkimg.com web site.
That's because those images are not on talkimg.com yet.

The image is e.g. 5iYD6dG.png (but am using a random file for my example), I try typing e.g. https://www.talkimg.com/image/5iYD6dG.png or https://www.talkimg.com/Timelord2067/image/5iYD6dG.png (or dropping the png off the end) however none of these bring up the file I am looking for.
If joker_josue wants it, I can get him the data. It's 143 GB (after hardlinking all duplicate images to one file on disk). If desired, I can create subdirectories with each username too, but that would mean each user gets their quoted images in there too.

Hi again,

So I downloaded the ZIP file with all the images attributed to me from the old image hosting site (there are a great many not included that I can only presume are contained locked threads) - I unzipped the images and saw one that I would like to use, however, I can't seem to locate it on the talkimg.com web site.

If I hover over an image, down below I can see a URL, but when I click on the image I've got to click a second time (not a double click) to bring up the image and even then the URL in the task bar isn't what I've click on.

Is there any way to search for am image?

Thanks again.

But it gets difficult, with users asking for the name to be random and others asking to stick with part of the original. I can't fulfill both requests at the same time (at least now). Roll Eyes

I don't know if it's a suggestion or request, but I want to talk about changing the TalkImg uploaded image link. As a Campaign manager, I need to upload sometime many slice images, so I am facing the issue more than others I think Smiley. Previously the link was containing the actual name of the image. And this helped a lot to arrange my thread easily. But now it's adding some random number in the image link. It's really hard to realize what should be the header, and what should be the footer if you have for example 10 images.

So can you please back/update it again so that we arrange the thread easily?

I understand the situation perfectly.

Do you think having an account would help? This way you can better manage your images. To have an account, just send me a PM.  Wink

BACKUP FILES: UPDATE
From now on, the ZIP containing the new uploaded images will be made every weekend and kept for 15 days.

Location of backups:
Code:
https://www.talkimg.com/tempbackups/

Whoever is downloading these files automatically, I suggest that they configure their systems to only download them on Mondays. Depending on the number of images loaded, the creation of the ZIP can take a few hours.

Those who downloaded the first files made available can delete them and download the new files that are available at the indicated link. The files now available are all images uploaded so far and maintaining the existing directory structure on the server.

I've updated the OP with this information.

There was some discussion a couple weeks ago about the file limit. I recently uploaded a PNG and had to bring it down to under 2.0MB for it to post, despite the stated 2.5MB file limit. Just wanted to report that quickly.

It was enough for the image to have 2 500 001 bytes for it to no longer be accepted.
But, thanks for the warning, I'll keep an eye on that aspect.

Seems to work.
Wondering why I have to push a button. The page cannot "reset" herself while loading in the first place?
I am not a technical person, maybe it's a stupid suggestion.

She can even update, but when doing so, access to the links in the previous image are no longer available. So, imagine that the page updates before you copy the image link? You'll have to re-upload the image to get the link.

Anyway, several possibilities, difficult to be practical for all scenarios. But this one turns out to be the most balanced.

A small issue I noticed lately: when I upload a file, often the link page still displays and links to a previously uploaded image. There is no way of making the website to work again without refreshing (often wires) or reopening the tab.
Shall I do something on my side (clearing cache/using a defined browser? I use MacOS with Safari)

After the upload, there is a "reset" button, it is recommended for to use, as sometimes it may not recognize the new upload.

I can change the configuration, and the system will create a new name for the file at upload time.

Do you want me to do this?
I think this should be default, yes. Then maybe add a checkbox if that's not too troublesome for you.

Yes, that would be great.
An option to totally ignore the original file name and substitute it with whatever you, @joker_josue, makes sense.
