If a user who has a bot is unable to use the service, send a PM.
Be careful to not give the bad guys via some forum sockpuppet any details how to screw up your site.
I guess it'll just be a whitelisted IP in Cloudflare. If it's abused, it's easy to remove again.

Thanks for your ongoing effort, patience and persistance prevails. I hope we can enjoy to use talkimg.com as we did before all this DDoS shit started. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the alert. I know who used bots, and those bots didn't use any special functions. So, in most cases they just have to readjust something in their bots, without my intervention.

But always alert.  Wink

Now it is only necessary to provide extra protection so that the same incident does not happen again.
That's a tough one. Given a sufficiently large DDOS attack, any website goes down. The problem is that DDOS protection is quite expensive, while a DDOS (using a cheap botnet of compromised computers) is cheap.

On the other hand, they can't DDOS all websites at the same time. That makes me wonder what would happen if everyone would abandon Cloudflare at the same time. One by one, sites are forced to use centralized DDOS protection, and once they're "hooked", they won't leave again.

Yeah, I think it's a bit like that.

As I said before, I had never suffered from this problem until now. What I noticed was that shortly after I changed hosts - which indicates a new IP for the site, the attack returned. It came back with a different load, but this significantly affected the site's performance.

I believe this type of attack was something similar to what the other image hosting site suffered, which caused bitcointalk to be blocked. Maybe it's something aimed at this niche, especially because in the middle of these days the forum's image proxy also suffered a small attack.

I currently have Cloudflare active on the site. Although my goal is not to continue with it, it may be difficult to let go.

Finally, everything returned to normal after a few days of not being able to use it.
But now the images in Pumpkin's Voting Thread are normal as well, and all the images have appeared.

@joker_josue you're amazing, you've done a good job.

EDIT
Can you check if it's already working? Can you see the images on the forum yet?

I've already managed to stabilize server, now I have to check what configuration I made, which I generally block in the forum's hotlink.

You can rest assured that no image was lost. They just don't appear yet. But they will appear, I am permanently doing everything to get back up and running.

The hacker spirit breaks any spell
let's give him time to work, after all he suffered a pretty heavy ddos
I'm sure he's working to fix the problem

the interesting thing about all this is that he certainly has gained considerable experience regarding this kind of problems and attacks

It hasn’t been working for me for a while now which is a real shame as it has become my number one choice to upload images to the forum.

I have been reluctantly using https://imgbb.com/ whilst https://talkimg.com/ is having issues.

i doubt those sons of bitches behind the DDoS attack will back off anytime soon.
for now, it's better to use https://imgbb.com to add images until this gets fully resolved. if anyone knows a better option, please share.

imgvb.com is an alternative with a resize feature on each image before you can upload it the website. It has same vibes with talkimg.com when it comes functionality.

Just recently discovered it when searching for alternative since imgbb has no option to have direct bbcode for image only aside from the full bbcode including the link to the image.

Hoping that talkimg will be back to normal because it offers the most convenient way of uploading image.

Today I tried to access TalkImg, and it was so smooth that I uploaded the image looking normal as usual.

But when I want to paste it in the thread, the image does not appear.

It's true, now I have this dilemma.

I'm trying to understand, what is blocking the images on the forum. Whether it's the Cloudflare settings, whether it's the server settings, or whether it's a combination of both. We are creating so many barriers against the attack, that it is difficult to understand which one is causing it.

But I'm not going to give up, and I believe I'm closer to solving it.

It's been very comfortable with TalkImg and until now I continue to use it and have uploaded a lot of photos.

Sad when TalkImg has a problem like this and a pretty serious problem,
But I am sure @joker_josue can overcome this problem so that access can be done normally again.

Every time I launch the service, they load again and try to block the entire site.

I have managed to mitigate the situation enough so that the images continue to be available on the forum. But, new uploads are complicated to do.

This is giving me a lot more struggle than I really imagined. But, I won't give up and continue trying to solve the problem.

I just ask for a little more of your patience.

We are glad that the talk image is back. Because for quite some time many people tried like me but could not upload any picture, could not use talk image.

For bitcointalk that you continue to strive your utmost. @joker_josue Don't want to be short by thanking you for it. Hope you can solve the problems ahead.

Same here, for now https://imgbb.com/ is the one that I used.

It's very unfortunately that TalkImg.com has been under attack now and @joker_josue is trying to fight the entities behind this DDoS attack. For sure majority wanted to help in any shape or form here but our hands are tied. And yes, we do appreciate his effort here, so keep it up!!!

@joker_josue, i share your frustration and i appreciate the effort you are putting in to solve the problem.
and as much as we want the service back, there is no rush, so don't push yourself too hard Smiley

Try your best joker_josue. I hope you are not doing this alone. You have a group of programmers with server experience working with you. Sometimes all we need is just more than one person to look at a bug and you never can tell how one person will spot a minor something causing the issue. If my memory don't fail me, I remember when you launched talkimg, you mentioned someone's name whom you were working together with. Hope they are still in the team.
