As the image is loaded first here on the forum, when we get to the LoyceV website the image appears.
That shouldn't matter, the image on the forum runs through ip.bitcointalk.org and has nothing to do with the above link.
Not exactly. By chance I already spoke as theymos and he said the following:
So if you send caching headers, this will be passed to the end-user so that their browser caches, but the forum's image proxy will never cache.
The image proxy URL is different than the direct URL, so those are different cache files in your browser.

And we're going to have a factoid suggesting the TalkImg website.
Nice! I am glad theymos reaction was positive.
I started using TalkImg as my regular image uploading service, and I will consider creating account there.
My suggestion is to list TalkImg.com website on alternative.to (it' free), as alternative option for Imgur, ImgBB and other similar services, it will get some exposure outside bitcointalk forum:
https://alternativeto.net/

Please check your PM joker_josue.

Either way, I have the server configured as a hotlink, but other configurations may be generating conflicts in some cases. I'm checking.

I take the opportunity to inform you that theymos was pleased with the project, and gave its support in two ways:
- On the help page, next to the images tag, there is a link to TalkImg.
- And we're going to have a factoid suggesting the TalkImg website.

I would like to thank theymos publicly for their availability and support!

Well that shouldn't happen.
But, it may be due to browser cache reasons, which is causing this situation.
Try a hard reload (Shift-reload) on loyce.club/other/tmp/test.html.

I upload a picture on your service but place the link on another site (not bitcointalk), will this picture be displayed there?
Now test it outside Bitcointalk: loyce.club/other/tmp/test.html
The image doesn't show up.

I don't know about you, but my picture shows up fine. But it is huge, I had to scale it to 25% and it didn't fit in the window completely. It turns out that the picture placed on this service will be displayed on any site, not only on bitcointalk.

I just noticed that too: although the screen may seem blank, if you zoom it down you'll be able to see the Bitcoin logo.

This is a work in progress so there is no problem with that. I'm sure that in different third parties' websites it won't be shown and it works in Loyce's web for some technical details I don't understand. Anyway, I suggest to address this issue sooner or later, because the peculiarity that the images can only be seen here is a great point for this project, IMO.

Keep up the good work!

UPDATE:
The list of BBCode codes to embed has been updated.
Now, you have the option "BBCode full fix HxW" where the BBCode code will include the actual width and height of the image.

Code:
[img height=300 width=300]https://www.talkimg.com/images/2023/05/06/icon_v18aac8248814562c1.png[/img]

I hope this function can be useful.

Note to translators:
I include the term "new" in front of points that were revised in the OP. This will allow you to more easily update the translations.
Thank you for your cooperation.

But you can load the image directly: talkimg.com/images/2023/04/22/bitcoin-logo-1-1-267084567290052a980fb3a46d.png

Or you can embed it through Bitcointalk's image proxy: loyce.club/archive/posts/6220/62205007.html

May I ask? How to understand your words?

All uploaded images can only be used in the forum (unless requested by a user; it can be done after an evaluation by joker_josue).

Will the pictures that will be posted on your service be displayed on sites other than bitcointalk? I mean if I upload a picture on your service but place the link on another site (not bitcointalk), will this picture be displayed there?

The donation address on the site is linked to Bitcointalk ANN. It would be better if you link the payment URL instead of linking it here.

Have been using the site for the last few days and it was a great experience.

This is a great idea and great service!

I uploaded an image to the site and it was easy, bbcode provided so it was just
click COPY, way handier than what I have been using to date, Blogger.

I think it would be nice to set up an account, that way we can see exactly what we
uploaded, then again does it matter given the idea is the images stay on BCT anyway?

In relation to images I would also like to suggest for the smartphone users is
to use the FREE app Adobe Photoshop Express, its great for resizing, cropping and editing
before uploading to Talkimg, also means in the long run it saves on server space.

~ single point of failure. joker_josue manages TalkImg, what about site if something happens to him?
This:
I wouldn't mind making regular backups (rsync) of the data. Ideally, a few people should do that, and if joker_josue ever loses interest, the data could be restored on talkimg2.com. All we'd have to do is kindly ask theymos to replace the domain in the forum database and the images are back.

I understand this is by bitcointalk member for bitcointalk. However, for longetivity for my images I'd likely stick to imgur, it ought to have less dependency on single point of failure.

I don't think you understand. The original post was specifically addressing the use of image hosting services for the Bitcointalk. Although Imgur is a well-known image hosting platform, it still entails relying on a single point of failure. How can you ensure the longevity of your images on their service?

Well, because it's popular, been online since years and is not managed by a single individual, this is what I meant by single point of failure. joker_josue manages TalkImg, what about site if something happens to him?

After several days checking this thread again, and I wanna day I had thoughts about this.

 Huh

Why not use popular service such as imgur,

Because people are crafty and like to build things.  Wink

Ultimately, the choice of image hosting service is up to the individual, but I wanted to provide some context.

But imagine, that someone makes a copy of your image, loads it again on the site and then uses it here on the forum. So, if you contact me to indicate this situation, I know which of the two images was uploaded first, and I can delete the second one.
The second uploader may not have known someone else uploaded the same image, and he'll have broken images in his post.

Logically, for that to happen, there has to be a violation of copyright. And believe that 90% of the cases, the images do not violate copyright.

The main scenarios in which this can happen are:
- Photos taken by someone, and other people use as their own. But, the person had to prove that they had taken that photo, and that it had never been posted in any public place on the internet.
- A brand does not authorize its logo to be on a certain website. Imagine that Apple sends an email saying they don't want their logo on TalkImg, so I'll have to remove it.

Now what is the probability of that happening? Low, but it can happen. But, it's unlikely. If it happens, I logically have to take action.
Therefore, it is not enough for someone to post an image similar to another one here in the forum, which will see it removed. The image must be protected by copyright.

Protected by copyright, the image/brand/holder must be registered with the patent authorities in the country. If it weren't like that, anyone would say that an image was yours. Owning the rights to an image involves more than simply saying the image is yours. It's yours if you register it, something that involves money and time.

When you put that image here on the forum, anyone can take that link and reuse it in another post. If that happens, you must speak to moderation to have this post removed.
I don't think Mods will delete posts because of images used, unless the image itself breaks the rules. Copyright isn't even a reason, since the forum doesn't host the images.

While NSFW images may not be allowed, it would probably be good to have a mechanism in place to report abuse or inappropriate content. Even with rules in place, there is always a chance that someone may try to circumvent them and post something that should not be there.

If you detected any inappropriate content, you can communicate with me to provide this information. In addition, all uploaded images are reviewed daily.

It is irrelevant to check this option or not. By the way, I will remove it in a next update. NSFW images are not allowed, so this option is of no use.

Programs such as FreeCommander create a checksum of the image so it doesn't matter what it's been renamed to (from recollection it can identify if an image has been resized).  Bing.com search will find the same image - even when text etc has been added.  I think duckduckgo.com and google.com do as well but I don't use either much.  Have a search online for duplicate file detection.  Regardless of filename, an uploaded file can be cross checked by file size even prior to a checksum being taken in a matter of seconds.

You're right, I didn't say that this kind of analysis is impossible. But you have to consider two points:
- This requires some resources, which for this type of site are unnecessary.
- The site does not have a gallery system, so the user can not use images already loaded (although it is possible). That is, imagine that you want to upload the Bitcoin logo. But, someone did it before you. If he does that level of control, you wouldn't be able to upload. So you were left without the ability to use the service. It didn't make sense, don't you think?

What I was meaning was if multiple copies are uploaded, then the original uploader (as well as anyone that follows) looses their ability to delete an image.  (then again a user could just reupload all files as their own to lock images on the site)

Not exactly! I will always know which was the first image to be loaded. Unless both images are loaded at the same time.
Also, don't forget the following: the images uploaded to the site are intended for use in the forum. When you put that image here on the forum, anyone can take that link and reuse it in another post. If that happens, you must speak to moderation to have this post removed.
