Hey. I tried to set up a telegram bot (to receive notifications when someone posts a post in this thread, but I see that the posts are published but the notifications do not come). I don't know what's the matter. I checked and see that I did everything correctly (when I used the bot menu)

Should be working. I get notified for new replies on this topic and I see you’re tracking the topic on the database. A reminder that you don’t get notified for your own posts.

Debugging on the phone is hard and very annoying, so I couldn’t look much further.

Strange! this bot works perfectly for me, are you sure you have entered the OP's link in the tracked topics menu? it may happen that the bot may not be able to process all the notifications if there is massive use at the same time, perhaps some notifications will be skipped

I am actually using the bot and is working fine for me, there's a question I really wanna asked maybe it may looks silly but I don't feel bad provided it would be answered.
My question is when I get notified by the bot, is there anyway I can use the bot to also reply on the thread I got notification from ?
Like if don't really wanna come on the forum to reply those that mentioned and or quoted me for that particular thread, I do see an option saying " Type a message" does it goes directly to the board I am being mentioned. Well the reply here are numerous for me to start going through each an every post to detect if same question has been asked but however, if already asked by some users I would be very grateful if someone just shared the direct link to me to just read instead of op to keep repeating himself.
Thank you.
I don't think that's possible to use the bot replying those who mentioned you in the forum. After all, the bot's purpose is to give you notifications when someone or a forum user quoted your post or mentioned your forum username which means it only take data from the forum and send it to the bot to give you a notification. This is the same as the site called https://ninjastic.space/ which do the same thing which is to gather data except the notification thing. You can try asking TryNinja if this is possible or there could be a script or maybe an extension that lets you reply to a thread as what you wanted.

Thank you for kind feedback, I already gain the idea but you know there are some that wasn't clear on my side so just asked if actually is possible. But haven said by you and I believe you are also using the bot this shows it's impossible for one to reply using the bot.

At least this was what I wanted to hear from the creator but haven gotten feedback from experience user like you makes me to understand is not possible and even if that could be, I think it might be another target from the creator then I will be very happy to see that feature being enable and launched as well.

This isn't possible at the moment and can't be possible because for you to post on the telegram bot and it reply comments for you on the forum, you'll have to give the telegram bot access to your account and give the bot permission to post but that's not available at the moment.

And I won't be recommended if that was possible, use the link and reply when you login. I have a question of my own, I set up the bot and enable mentions but haven't received any mentions on the telegram bot when someone responded to my posts.

But I have some quotes from the topic that I started and other reply on other people threads. What is wrong or is it my username that's making it impossible for me to receive mentions but the topics that I'm tracking is working great as I get notifications when they are getting new replies.

I'll love someone to assist me as I don't want to miss any reply because I'm not always online but enjoy discussion on the forum as they are adding to my understanding and improving my knowledge.
Thank you in advance.

I wouldn't trust those to enter server passwords though.
2FA authentication usually fixes this if done correctly (without SMS), but yeah this was only meant for emergency situations and not for super important stuff.
You shouldn't even connect to public wifi networks because someone could record everything that is searched and typed, but on vacations rules change sometimes.

Yeah… judge me

It's a strong argument for bringing a laptop though: all you need is internet access, and the security is your own responsibility.

By chance, I already thought about the possibility of setting up a cyber cafe.

But whenever I look at this situation, this is what comes to mind - how safe would that be for my clients?
The conclusion I reached was that the only solution would be to create a virtual environment for each client, which would be eliminated when he leaves.
I'd go for a (Linux) system that wipes the user account when he's done. Or just use "kiosk mode". It depends on your users though: if they only want to game, they won't care about security much.

I don't know if operating systems can be set up in a few minutes. Most operating systems take more than 20 minutes to set up and install the necessary software. Most people use browsers only to do their work, so you don't have to install any software. You must have dedicated employees to set up the operating system after each session.
A network boot option with reinstall should work. But still, no matter what precautions someone else takes, I'll always assume the system is compromised. It's just the safe assumption.

I never came up with an idea. But, to create such a space, I would have to create a system providing security for all clients.

You may charge them extra fees for that.

For example, Your client might have two options.
One - Fresh new operating system which is totally safe to use. You may charge high fees for that.
Two - Used operating systems which may have viruses, which could be unsafe (Nobody knows). You charge them a regular fee for that.

The point is; No other cyber cafe offers such variations. So, if someone cares about their privacy, they should choose package number one. If someone chooses package number two, ask them to change their credentials after using the computer to avoid issues. You can print a banner and write them in it so you don't have to explain it every time.

Most of cyber cafe computers are not safe. You never know if there are keyloggers or something like that installed.

Or you could try going in some internet cafes or place that rents you computer and internet access, people usually use them for playing games or talking with relatives from other countries.

Yeah… judge me, but I did input the password for my TAP (Portugal’s airline) account in one of those computers and I got hacked a few days later. Coincidence or not, I’m not doing that anymore. Grin
Most of cyber cafe computers are not safe. You never know if there are keyloggers or something like that installed. In my country, many people reported that their account was hacked after using it in an internet cafe. But whenever police go there for investigation, they say since various customers use the computer, it's possible that some hacker rent the computer for an hour and set up his viruses for victims.

So, it's somewhat impossible to catch who is a real hacker. The cafe does not install a Close circuit camera because of privacy. Isn't it funny? They do not install cameras for privacy, but accounts are getting hacked  Tongue

Well, I actually really like traveling slowly and long term. Last time I spent 8 months, doesn’t mean I’ll do that again but I just go with the flow so I never know. Will probably just buy a new laptop at some point, just avoiding that for now since I usually go with the higher ends and don’t feel like spending $1k+ to fix a couple lines of code. Tongue

I wouldn't waste money on junk laptops, but maybe you could look for good old Thinkpad used laptop and use it later as a cold storage, they are almost indestructible military grade T series with amazing keyboards.
Hope you are enjoying your vacation  Cool

Don't talk the talk, if you can't walk the walk.
wow I haven't noticed that it was a telegram bot that could help you to track things like if somebody quote you and stuff like that. this forum really has smart and high tech people.

Thank you for this TryNinja, will make everything so much much easier!  Smiley

If there's one thing I've learned while traveling: the less you bring, the less you have to worry about Smiley In your scenario, I'd pick up a $100 laptop at the local Craigslist (although this might be difficult if you're in, say, Antarctica). All I'd look for is an SSD, 8 GB RAM, working battery and low-power CPU. Install your favourite Linux distribution, encrypt it, and use it without worrying too much about breaking or losing it on your travels. Then buy the $1k+ laptop when you settle down somewhere long-term.
I miss the days I could travel for months!

You shouldn't worry about it. But I am curious about how long your vacation is. Anyways, Enjoy your summer vacation!

Pretty interesting. That's what happens when programmers make money while they sleep. Or work one month and enjoy the rest eleven months!  Cheesy If you like long-term and slow traveling, you might consider carrying your laptop. Or maybe it doesn't give you a proper vacation feel if you work on your laptop  Tongue Haha, just kidding.

But I cannot imagine traveling for eight months. I traveled for ten days last December and was already missing my friends and family. Ocean and mountains always attract me. But I am bad at hiking because of my weight.
