Wow, this is incredible, I can't believe I never saw this before. I can't wait to try the bot on telegram. For a noob with this bot can anyone kindly tell me some of the coolest things you can do with it? It looks like people have asked for improvements/ given ideas, have many of them been implemented and also is this still being upgraded today?
If you experience some problem like wrong merit count then you can use the command /setmerit (correct merit count) then your good to go. I am quite surprised you haven't checked the bot when it's basically in display in meta board as this thread have many replies so it will stay on the first page of the board. Well, that's what I can share to you and it's up to you to check other features of the bot by checking the menu in the bot.

I wouldn't want the option.Not everyone knows how to use the @ when writing to a particular user, they just type out the name in full, sometimes incorrectly spelt even. Not worth it having a notification bot and still missing where you were mentioned in discussions which you may have wanted to see.
If it's not too much of a hassle you can make two options, one to only get notified of quotes and another to be notified of all mentions.

Personally, it wouldn't be a function I use - notifications don't bother me.
Either way, if the development is not too complicated, it could be an interesting new feature.

A quick question.
Some people might get annoyed when they are notified every time someone writes their name. Maybe you only want to get a notification when someone quotes your post or when you're tagged with an @.
- "Notify me every time someone mentions my name"
- "Notify me only when someone tags me (@TryNinja) or quotes my post"

Yeah, exactly. I think it was the first time I used commands with this bot. lol. I never noticed the merit was wrong so I never explored the commands that could be ran with the bot. And I thought somehow the bot was able to read the data from the users from the database, so information should match.
I guess the bot doesn't match it's calculation against forum database, so when its count get tangled a little bit, the two numbers can differ.
I think checking the merit balance would add a too elevated number of enquiries to the forum, and I think this is the reason TryNinja didn't implement it.
Anyway the /setmerit command works as a charm, and I find myself using it every few months when I realise my merit count is off by a little.
Probably this is a good compromise between accuracy and resource usage for both the bot and forum infrastructures.

I'm no expert at this bot since I am not the one who created it and I am sure that TryNinja can answer your questions about the BOT but if that's your problem then you can just set it to the correct count by sending a command to the bot to change the merit count. If you don't know how to do it then you simply type this in the bot and send it. /setmerit (number of merits you have) e.g, /setmerit 656 which is the current merit count I have right now. Thanks again! Great work on this bot. Hope you continue to support it and even add features over time. If you want, I can have another job for you in this forum. And if you allow me I could take your work here for my suggestion and take it to another forum I use to use quite frequently.
The idea is to develop some type of pluing / browser addon to enable syntax highlight of code. Tere are a few foruns, this one included of course, that could use such thing.
The other forum I would like to see a plugin like this is the Debian forum at https://forums.debian.net/ and EEV Blog forum at https://www.eevblog.com/forum/.
If there was a way of creating something that could be used in these foruns, it would be f**** awsome! :p

I think there's a problem here. When I try to track usernames with capital letters (for excample Hhampuz and TryNinja), the bot automatically changes the capital letters I input into lowercase (output from bot hhampuz and tryninja). Maybe that's the main reason why I'm not getting notifications for some topics and posts created by users I've added to 'Tracked User'.
The bot checker is case insensitive, so this is irrelevant here.Link some examples if something was missed.

The username "hhampuz" is not found on Ninjastic, while "Hhampuz" is found. I believe the same applies to the username "tryninja," which won't be found on Ninjastic, while "TryNinja" is found.

The Bitcointalk BOT is one of the best things that has ever happened to me as a forum user.
The fact that I can actually keep track of my Bitcointalk conversations using the notification bot is indeed a life saver.
These days, I go directly to my account by clicking links from the notification bot and it takes me with precision, to the exact message whose notification popped up.
A commendable innovation there, I appreciate its developers as well

There's no notification when someone mentioned you when they edited the post after 5 minutes. When someone quoted your post then you will get notified or received notification. If someone quotes you after editing the post within 10 minutes, you don't get notification for it?
