The Australian women's final between Sabalenka and Rybakin is very certain and dramatic. The current score is 1:1 in sets and 3:3 in the third set.
A very interesting match to watch and a good preparation for tomorrow's men's final  Grin
It is interesting that in the media, at least in my country, more is being written about the incident with Djokovic's fans for holding Russian flags and symbols, and their meeting with Djokovic's father, than about the upcoming final tomorrow.
Last year we read about Djokovic's deportation, this year about flags and symbols worn by fans, and we listen and read the least about sports.
This is a lot of pressure for Djokovic, he should be focusing on his tennis and his game, instead he has to think about things like this and why his father won't be watching his match live tomorrow.
I hope this doesn't affect his match tomorrow.

I don't think it will affect him that much, if there is, it will be positive seen the Australian fans cheer him in this comeback game here, so there is no love lost or something.

So it's going to be Tsitsipas who I have been supporting for the last couple of years, give me some good win but in the last year it was pure disappointment.

Anyhow, I'm going with the over 36.5, I think the +5.5 for him might be a trap, IMHO.

Sabalenka, who was always criticized for her mentality and attitude, got back the match she fell behind with a great comeback, especially in the 3rd set, she served very well, reduced mistakes and scored a lot of winners, especially in that last game. She came out of a draw 4 times and got her first grand slam. She showed how much he improved his mental and service with this tournament and this match. Consistency in women's tennis is something that we rarely come across. The last and most specific example is the iga swiatek. Sabalenka and Rybakina are considered players with high potential and ceiling. I am sure we will see more of their names in the grand slam finals in the coming years.

I also agree with the thing about Djokovich. I don't like to see these things in the sports. He should just focus on his game and career. Other stuff shouldn't affect us, the simple viewer.

Tsitsipas had a bit of a 4 set struggle against Khachanov to get to the final, I can't
see him beating Djokovic. Unfortunately I can't see Paul getting to the final.

Yes, it was not an easy match for Tsitsipas. It was not clear for a long time whether he would win the match. Now he is number 2 in the world ranking.

At the beginning it looked very good for Djokovic. But then Paul came back again. He is now in the game and will not make it easy for Djokovic now. But I think Djokovic will get to the final.

Yeah, seems to be a long coming for Tsitsipas, now he is on the finals against and most likely it will be against Djokovic.

Looking at the scores and it's somewhat 4 set, hmm, not sure if that is a struggle, maybe in the beginning, but once he finds his groove, and smooth for Tsitsipas, specially in the close out.

Djokovic looks good against Paul, wins the first set and up 2-0 now in the second. No surprises if he wins by straight set here.
Indian player Sania Mirza took retirement from her Grand Slam career.
I think she made a good decision - of taking retirement from her career now she will focus more on her tennis academy and will polish  some hidden gyms.

Novak has another fairly dominant performance. In his 10th final at the Australian Open, Novak Djokovic defeated Tommy Paul to face Stefanos Tsitsipas! In the final, the AO king returns to his rightful place. On Sunday, he will hopefully reclaim his crown! Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas are playing for more than just a trophy. It would be great to see Novak win a 10th Australian Open crown and 93rd career title. It would be great if Tsitsipas surprised everyone and a new name would be added to the trophy.

I honestly believe that  Djokovic will be able to win the final against Tsitsipas. And certainly, the Australian Open King is ruling the tournament. He has not faced too many difficulties in this tournament so far.

I am not saying that the final is going to be easy. But he certainly is going to be the favorite to win the Australian Open this time. I actually agree with you that it will be interesting to see if Tsitsipas can show some surprises in the final. But honestly, I do not think that is going to happen. Novak Djokovic is going to reclaim his crown as the king of the Australian Open again after this final.

It was to be expected that Djokovic would win his match. It is striking that he almost handed over the first set despite his break lead. After that, it was also done with the resistance of his opponent. Djokovic has shown nice tennis, but he has not really been tested yet. Tsitsipas seems to be the first big test, but if he passes it, he can add another grand slam victory to his palmeres. He is also the top favorite in this match. I think Tsitsipas is a good player, but he is not in the category of Djokovic's level when both are at their best.

Might be interesting if Tsitsipas can finally break and beat Djokovic in AO. Or Djokovic is still too good at this point that another Grand Slam is on his way.
Seeing Djokovic in the Australian Open final is like seeing Nadal in the Roland Garros final, victory is like a certainty for both players at his favorite Grand Slam. Tsitsipas is a great player but sometimes he can't keep his game at a high level especially when he's under pressure it's proven that in the third set in the semis he could finish it but failed and he has to be at a very high level if he wants to beat Djokovic in the final even though I doubt he can doing so perhaps he would not give his opponent any ease but the trophy will be lifted by Djokovic.

Man, if Tsitsi takes this somehow, it's the biggest slap in my face. Backed him for a number of tournaments, then trimmed my expectations to final appearance and even then just gave that up.

Anybody betting on Djokovic match today? Really hard to find the value bet with odds like this ao I went for a strange one. Paul to win more than 8.5 games. If he takes a set or even gets it to tie break this passes. Did not watch him at AO at all so I am unsure if he is serving good enough to pull it off, I know he has no chance if serve does not help him. I guess he must have been doing something right to get at semi final  Grin

I went for 3:1 as I thought since yesterday that was the most "Value" bet -- I know it was too much to ask for Paul to play his best (couldn't he just have won 1 more game for you haha), but I've been waiting for Djoko to do his classic "drop a set for fun" but this time around he kept to his word of saying he wants to set a statement of intent.

Nothing left to bet on except live on the next, and that's even if Djoko finally gives me a first set loss.

Re: Tsitsipas

I think a good few of us got let down by betting on Tsitsipas in the past, I haven't
been betting on him either since then.

TBH it seems to me (and it's something I said back in December) Djokovic has to
be feeling superior, and knows he is superior ATM to any other player on tour.

I would say he has already at this stage lined up a win in every tournament in his schedule
and definitely every GS this year as a win.

He fairly breezed through his match today, 3 sets!

I really can't see Tsitsipas winning tomorrow. Djokovic to me is super focussed, after
last year - he is on a mission now.
Yes i agree djokovic is on another level compared to the other players and seeing alcaraz withdraw from the tournament i was disapointed i think this year is his chance at winning all four grandslam's and if he stays clear from injuries no one will stop him i hope we see an entertaining final not a one sided show.

I made many threads predicting this would be the easiest Australian Open of Novak's career and I was right.

After being deported last year he has come back on a mission and is seeking revenge.

It was different though last year, there was a lot of drama back then.

But yes, it was relatively easy match and path for Djokovic in the finals. Might be interesting if Tsitsipas can finally break and beat Djokovic in AO. Or Djokovic is still too good at this point that another Grand Slam is on his way.

Checking on the odds, Tsitsipas a huge underdog, almost 5:1 against Djokovic.

Just finished the third set of Djokovic vs Paul with a "very easy" win for Serbian player (7-5 ; 6-1; 6-2)

Set 2 and set 3 were really impressive from Djokovic. In the first set, Paul was still able to annoy him a little. But then we saw that Djokovic has more experience to deal with those situations. Paul did not make it easy for Djokovic sometimes. That was definitely not his last semi-final. He has now climbed from place 35 to place 19.

For sure it will be an interesting match against Tsitsipas not easy to be predicted the winner since both players have performed very well during the tournament.

Hell, Marin Čilić is still in top 20 and I have a feeling he had a constant struggle with form and injuries last season. What the hell are others doing then?

honestly, I thought that he retired last season

just looking at Murray with artificial hip, that is playing competitive is enough to judge current situation in tennis world

in the end, it suits Djokovic great, he could get 4x GS this season easily with this competition if they allow him to play on US, and he probably thought that it is over when lost from Medvedev in 2021 on US Open

Both Cilic and Murray are currently at the same level and now Murray even looks better then Cilic. But still Djokovic is same age as them but he takes care of his body in a special way so thats why he isnt struggling both of them. Plus Murray with the hip is doing the best he can so far

Ah but I don't think Murray is progressing, he is at a level and seems to be able to
hold that, Cilic had some good results last year but couldn't hold that same performance.

I don't see either of them doing much more than they already have done from last year.
