In the men's part of the tournament, it will be interesting to see if Nadal can win the GS again and overtake Fedrer in the number of GS titles.

This is what I didn't expect to happen, not about Nadal surpass Federer records but about Nadal win another French Open title, It's boring the winner dominated by one name in a decade.

In the women's competition, the main question is whether Swiatek can repeat last year's surprise or we will have a new winner.
Barty and Osaka seem to be the main favorites for the title.
The results at Clay have always been bad for Osaka, and it looks like it will be here too. Could Swiatek and Barty face in the Final? It will be interesting to see

Yes, it's kinda boring, what Nadal is still dominant as far as clay surface, and no one can even gets closer to his performance, not even the young generations, and it will be very hard to topple his record in clay.

I will consider Swiatek the favourite, she is the defending champion after all, and she is improving a lot since she last won. Osaka hasn't had a good performance, so I will bet against her as the game progresses specially if she is up against Paula Badosa in round of 16.

I just check, Barty and Swiatek are in the same bracket, so we won't see them in the finals.

The French Open 2021 is ahead of us, so here are some interesting things that might interest you.  Cheesy
Last year, 1000 spectators could watch the matches, but this time as many as 5,388 will be allowed, which is great news for both fans and tennis players.
Unfortunately, spectators will not be allowed on most evening matches.

That is still a low number all other countries are allowing a lot more members into the stadiums. Just watch Belgrade open now the entire stadium is full. All football stadiums are starting to get full but france still not allowing a lot more people to go to the games

^^ I checked my favorite sportbookies and it's still qualifiers though.

We would like to see Nadal vs Djokovic in the semis, and Rafa even admitted that no one is unbeatable in this tournament not even himself. Yes, he is still the favorite, but we do hope so see another name to challenge them. So this is going to be an interesting French Open as a lot of good clay players are all here, including Tsitsipas, Thiem, Rublev and others.

I think that's Rafa just being humble, or maybe he knows that the young players are really getting closer to him and the big 3, but regardless of the names, we all know that this is Rafa territory unless the next gen really proved themselves in this tournament. And so far they all failed against these all time great players.

Sorry @Jating

Regarding the mens side of the tournament, it looks like Nadal, Djokovic and Federer
are all on the same side of the draw! this means that everyone on the other side
have been handed a carrot in a chance for a semi/final slot.

More info on R1 > https://www.rolandgarros.com/en-us/results/SM?round=1

Oh, what an unlucky draw for the big three, and this is the first time if I'm not mistaken.

Not very smooth sailing on the other draw as well, Medvedev vs Bublik in the first round, while Federer's conqueror Andujar will face Thiem.

In the ladies, Barty vs Swiatek might face each other in the semis.

@Jating while this is a tough draw but I’m sure that the top 3 will relish this opportunity, because they know if they win and progress ahead then they will further prove that they’re unbeatable. Also I expect Medvedev to win his match against Bublik, and therefore will check the odds for wagering a small amount on his victory.

Tough draw for the big 3, on the other hand, young gen will have to fight it out as well to face either Nadal, Djokovic or Federer in the finals. So I'm expecting Nadal to go to the finals here, against the best the young players have to offer.

For the ladies, I would say that Swiatek will be the early favorites to retain her crown.

The quarter-final round is expected in the second Grand Slam tournament Roland Garros for this season .
The draw is remarkable that it put the old generation on the same side and the young rising generation on the opposite side .
meaning that we will see a final between one of the best of this generation and one of the promising next generation in the near future.
Nadal is always the first candidate on the clay ground, because he is a king in these parts , although I wish Federer get to something, but it is very difficult because he returns from a major injury.

We've been talking about the how Nadal will be the favourite in the French Open, How about the ladies though? Lest we forgot, this is the break through grand slams for Iga Swiatek, can she defend the crown again this year?

Barty suffered a injury, Osaka so-so performance, who do you think can give Swiatek a competition or at least has a good chance to win in the ladies side?

This is what Stake.com has to offer for the French Open outright.

Nadal @1.79
Djokovic @4.30
Tsitsipas @6.80

So obviously, majority of tennis bettors here are correct. For me that's a good odd for Nadal in the beginning, maybe throw some good amount and see how it goes. Of course as a Tsitsipas fan boy, I will definitely put money on him regardless.

Nadal will always be the favourite in clay surface even if he losses the last tournament against Djokovic. And with the strength of his multiple trophies in French Open, I would say that he has hone and zone on his 14th crown.

Yes, he has been the favourite in almost any clay surfaces because that is Nadal expertise. While Djokovic is all around player and love fast surface. And Nadal winning against Djokovic just prove it and Nadal is just right on time performance wise before the Roland Garros.

But it will be a tough road for him, haven't seen the draw, but if he gets lucky and will not cross path with either Tsitsipas or Djokovic in the quarter finals, I think his chances of winning increases.

If he gets lucky, get a bye and maybe starts at round of 32 then he won't get either of the two. But there could be some players that will really challenge him before there are also a lot of good clay court, Sinner, Karatsev, Ruud, Berrettini to name a few.

Yea Medvedev has been nowhere for the clay season so far. Over the last 4 years I think
he has bowed out in the first round of RG. I think hard court is his favourite surface.

Its a pity and something future champions need to be mindful of, to be successful
on various different surfaces.

This is exactly my point, current young generations of players should be all around, and could adapt on different surfaces like Medvedev. At least Roger won a title at Roland Garros although we all know that clay is his weaknesses.

No surprised to see Nadal as the clear favourite, he just won against Djokovic and then we have Stefanos Tsitsipas getting ready to fight against Rafa and Novak, will be interesting to see how this years French Open will be like with a lot of good players trying to upset these 3.

The tournament, i.e. the qualification for the French Open, has begun. Tsitsipas is definitely in top form and one of the favorites for the final after bis Victors, even if he is older, the French Open title will again go over Nadal like in the recent years.

I just checked the odds for Nadal to win and it is only @1.85, which is too low for me to place a bet on.
Their might be some value in betting on Djokovic as his odd to win is @5.

As a series winner of the French Open, Nadal will of course have bad odds and I see it like you, a betting on Nadal as not useful. Will Nadal win his 14th French open tournament this year? There is of course the possibility, Nadal is in good shape again at the moment.

I would have thought Nadal would have shorter odds, I tried checking the sportsbet
outrights for Tsitsipas but its not showing any outrights ATM.

Anyone watch the UTS final between Taylor Fritz and Corentin Moutet? I just saw the
last 20 minutes and it was really entertaining. I dont know much about the rules but it looks
really fun and the players are really free to express themselves according to the winner, Moutet.

I have to say some of the shots by both players were really creative.

any thoughts?
