I watched the match only until the second set between Rublev vs Nadal, Rublev played really well especially in the first set, but when he lost in the second set I thought he would also lose in the third set because Nadal was able to find his best again, but when see the final score is sure to make the bettors who choose Rublev will be happy because the odds for him when the match is quite high.
Hopefully, someone will be able to do the same thing at the French Open, beating Nadal, isn't it very boring when we see him has to continue to win French Open.
French Open will be different though, perhaps Nadal is just starting to get going and warm up his body. So still a win-win for him even though he lost, he can make some adjustments and going the a tournament wherein he is the king, maybe we will see the best version of Nadal and let this be a motivation again.

What's your prediction in the finals?

Will it be Tsitsipas vs Rublev?

Ok, so it will be Rublev vs Nadal QF. I think Nadal being the king of clay is unstoppable in this tournament. And the last person to beat him in clay is Diego Schwartzman who exited in this tournament very early if I'm not mistaken.

Djokovic lost is a big shocker, Tsitsipas vs Fokina on-going, Fokina leading the first set 4-3 but Tsitsipas serving to tie the score. ML for Tsitsipas is not that attractive just @1.14.
The Novak Djokovic loss was a shocker but the most shocking was the Rafael Nadal loss as i did not expect that to happen and glad that i did not place a bet in the entire match and i have seen many making huge bets on the second set for Andrey Rublev to win but Rafael Nadal was able to come back and win and i thought he could win the third as well but today was not his day.
Well Novak Djokovic himself said he had a really bad day and wasnt feeling so good.Evans just returned the ball while Novak just missed and missed and missed. But on the other hand Nadal got schooled today by Rublev.

Ah the beauty of another upset, now Nadal falls to Rublev, another unexpected turn of events.

So my boy Stepanos has won and set up a tough semis with Djokovic conqueror. Huge underdog as I checked the money line today, @5.x. While Stepanos is @1.14 favorite. I might do some live betting, see first what Stepanos looks in the first set.

Rublev is obviously the favorite on the other bracket, currently @1.30, against @3.45 for Casper Ruud.

Only problem - Fognini will probably lose today Smiley

you had right on this one, and when saw that, Nadal obviously did not want to pass either, so he lost on Rublev
it is a shock, maybe even more than Djokovic to see Nadal out, and it would be interesting to see who will take the crown now, Rublev is probably on fire after this (did not saw the match), but Tsitsipas seems as better pick in the end
Rublev was on another level hitting all sorts of corners in this match and was better against nadal.
If rublev continues to play like this he will be a really big player one day

Oh yes Rublev has a very bright future. The thing is he isnt afraid to play anybody
especially Nadal. He isnt phased by having to play him whereas others would
certainly have a degree of doubt about playing Nadal on clay.

Rublev is a power player who can make an opponent work hard and run a lot.

To be fair I wrote that post when Fognini was 1 set down and just managed to make mini comeback in the second set, from 0:3 to 3:3. I even got some money on Rublev today, I did not back ML win but I had +5.5 handicap on him. Good enough.

I never bet against players like Rublev, he takes the ball so early and if he has his day and hits those timings he can win against absolutely anybody. Did not watch him today but he must have been on fire to leave Nadal on 2 games in first and third set.

A weird loss for Đoković today, I did not expect such a bad performance from him. He said afterwards that this was one of the worst matches he played in the last few years.

Fun fact - this was their first h2h match and Đoković is 33 and Evans 30 years old. Not something you see very often and Evans has a rare opportunity to finish his career with a positive score against a player who beat all the records Grin

Evans is probably the only player with a perfect track record against Djokovic lol  Grin.
Djokovic didn't play good but Evans seem to be in fine form, he also won (in 3 sets) against Goffin and is now for the first time in his career in the semi final of an ATP Masters 1000 tournament.

Fokina had to give up after the first set. It's a shame that we could not see a full game between those two because it was pretty tight. On the other hand it is very good for tsisipas as he can save a lot of energy which can make the difference in the next match. Rafael nadal is of course the big favorite for this tournament, now that djokovic is out even more. Maybe tsitsipas has a chance to beat nadal if he has a perfect and fognini is also good on clay but Nadal is just the greatest on that surface.
Fognini actually knows how to play against Nadal on clay and I would love to see their match once again. He managed to beat Nadal on clay 3 times, somehow I don't think many players can say that. Last time, a couple of years ago here in Monte Carlo.

It was just an off day for Djokovic, we see this time and time again in these tournaments where the top players lose matches we don't expect them to lose which is why I stay away from betting in these tournaments. THe top players just use these tournaments most to gain match fitness and stay match fit ready for the grand slams.

I didnt see the match but was shocked to hear the result, no disrespect to
Evans but its a game Djokovic was expected to win comfortably.

The tournament officials would be dissapointed, they would be hoping
for the top cedes to make it to the final, a big ticket final like Djokovic V Nadal

the match that i thought Djokovic could win easily is the one that he lost and got out of the tournament in the first rounds, i didn't see that coming, now the only contenders for the tiltle are Nadal of course, Tsetsipas and Rublev, i think it's between the three of them.
With all the names left, Nadal looks like it will be easy to get the trophy in this tournament, not looking to demean the other players, but in Clay he's king, and almost hard to beat.
I remember the last one who could beat him at Clay is diego schwartzman was last year's in Italy, after that he still unstoppable in Clay.
Even when he will face Rublev who is also the seed in this tournament, the odds for Nadal are very low, only 1,085, which is very unattractive for bettors.

He admitted after the game that he really feels awful as Evans handled Djokovic his first lost in 2021. It just shows that Djokovic surface is not clay though.

Another fun fact - 0-7 against top 5 opponents

Lost on clay for 10 consecutive games dating back to 2017.

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2021/apr/15/dan-evans-stuns-novak-djokovic-with-straight-sets-win-at-monte-carlo-masters

I didn't check the odds but for sure the ML for Evans is huge. And I'm not sure if tennis bettors give him a chance.

Unexpected, but yeah, probably he had an off day against Evans. We can't take away anything from Evan though, he played very well and push Djokovic.

Stefanos Tsitsipas should go through to the semi-final unless he has a bad match and lets himself down again. Nadal will have a tough match against Rublev however as its on clay you have to go for Nadal to win the match but I wouldn't be surprised to see the match go to three sets.

I do hope mate, his next match will be against Fokina, relatively unknown, so I do hope that he can win easy and take a rest. Rublev on a tough game against Bautista-Agut, but he prevail in 3 sets.
