^^ Yeah, Osaka has the form and the mental patient just like Serena when she was just starting her career. And 4/4 in a Grand Slam? that's huge already in his career.

For Tsitsipas, definitely we do hope that we will come back strong after this lost. I'm expecting him to learn from this, his win from Nadal and subsequent lost to Medvedev.

Djokovic wil raise the trophy for this year, unless Medvedev played solid tennis and has the mentality of the champion.

It will be interesting to see what "antics" Djokovic gets up to when its a close match
and Medvedev is his equal or slightly better. Its going to be close.

It was sad to see Tsitsipas lose the way he did after coming from behind to beat Nadal. It just shows that Tsitsipas still has a lot to learn when it comes to winning mentality and being more of a consistent player. I also felt sorry for Tsitsipas as everyone was commenting on his shorts with all the sweat which wasn't a good look but its not his fault and Nike need to work on making them better, or maybe change the colour.

It seems though that he was fatigue with his match against Nadal. And Medvedev played a tactical game here, he say that Stepanos was tired and take advantage of it, and then he had some shots that make Tsitsipas guessing throughout the game, very good tennis IQ.

I read that Medvedev has now won 20 matches in a row and if he wins the AO final it will make it 21 in a row which I find interesting as I'm a numbers guy so my theory is that Medvedev wins and makes it 21 matches in a row to win the first grand slam in the year 2021. Just as I said Nadal and Federer would both be on 20 grand slams each in the year 2020.

And he will overtake Nadal in the rankings as well, first time to see a player breaking Djokovic, Nadal, Federer and to some extent Murray to win a Slam. So there's a lot of weight on his shoulder against Djokovic, who suddenly feels great after a supposedly abdomen injury in the third round.

Yeah I think that was the case with Tsitsipas as coming back against on the top players would take a lot out of him. I think that he will learn from all this and will only make him a better player.

Yeah it will be something different to see another player ranked and split between Djokovic and Nadal.

Congrats to Osaka on winning her fourth grand slam and second AO title. I think we'll see her win a lot more grand slams in the years to come. Osaka could be the next Serena Williams but not sure if she will ever reach Serena in grand slam titles.

When you're the favorite, either you need to be way above the competition and crush it (like Nadal last RG) or you need to sow doubt in your adversaries. It looks like Djokovic is going for plan B.

I still think he will win.

Djokovic said in this interview that he finally feels good and ready for the finals: https://ausopen.com/articles/features/djokovic-building-momentum-drive-nine
''I felt as best as I felt so far in the tournament tonight – physically, mentally as well,”
When he feels like this and has no health or other problems Djokovic is the strongest and I think Medvedev will find it very difficult to stop his winning streak in Australia.
Meedvedev also has a big streak of wins but the question is whether he has reached the psychological level of Djokovic and whether he can cope with the big pressure of the GS final.
The last time he failed to do so.
Was interesting to hear that he is feeling good as the tournament progress, few games ago he said he had some kind of injury in his abdomen. Anyhow Djokovic has a history of faking his injuries though. So it will be a good finals, him and Medvedev battling it out. Old and new generation, so it won't be any easy match, but I think that Djokovic still has the numbers of this young players and won't easily handling the torch yet.

Djokovic has a big edge when it comes to experience, he had face a lot of top players many times, so he is a bit relax because he knows what it feels like under pressure, but I have seen Djokovic lose control of the situation when opponents get under his skin, while Medvedev is cool in court that what I have seen so far, he is going up in the tennis ladder.

Edit: not looking good for me at all, did not expect a match like this, maybe he is trying same tactic as against Nadal, first loose 2 sets warming up and then win it  Shocked
Scoreboard tells 3 - 0 but hopefully it was not a boring one sided match. I won some money Djokovic vs Zverev match and then lost mora than that in Tsitsipas vs Nadal. It's okay anyway.

Too busy and missed all the maches in this AO except Nadal vs Tsitsipas and Djokovic vs Zverev. Now that final is set and it's between Djokovic vs Medvedev, I will tune my clock to watch the match. I am going to stick with Djokovic however I have seen Medvedev and he is someone in his day can easily win any match against anyone. If he wins the first set then maybe I will put some money on Djokovic. The odds for Djokovic is still good thought 83/100.

Brady got the luck of the draw where she never faced an opponent better rank then hers until the finals.
True that, but she managed to win against Muchova and she was the reason why Brady had such draw. Muchova took care of favorites from that side of the draw wining against Barty, Mertens and Pliskova. Barty was the one I felt could go the distance from this side of the draw while Osaka was my favorite from other side.

Managed to hit my outright bet for women singles, and to think I would have probably never took it if there wasn't for that great Sportsbet promo.

Brady got the luck of the draw where she never faced an opponent better rank then hers until the finals. It looked too easy for Osaka to take Brady apart. This wasn't worthy of the finals tbh but hey, at least we got to see Osaka play Serena again. There are rumors flying around that Serena might retire soon but I'm not sure how much truth there is to it. She's been chasing quite a few achievements if she carries on playing  so, I hope we see her compete in all slams this year at least.

Delighted for her (and me!)

She played brilliantly, Brady put up a gallant challenge but Osaka's power and skill
showed from 3-0 in the first set to win 6 straight games.

Brady did well in her first GS final, if she can stay injury free hopefully she can
continue and improve her game.

Good luck to all that are having a bet or have a bet already, I'm out as I only placed one bet on Tsitsipas to win the AO before it started.
Russian beat another half-Russian in tennis Grin Just a strong feeling that Medvedev is continuing one continuous tournament since the last ATP finals and he is starting to resemble Federer, Djokovic and Nadal with their best series. Tsitsipas seemed to repeat the scenario of the match with Nadal from the last match in the third set, but Medvedev again began to play confidently and won the match.

Same here, I thought that Tsitsipas would at least win one set, so lost my bet  Sad. Just checked the odds for the final of Djokovic vs Medvedev and both get an odd of 1.93 to win.
Can be a long match, but betting on Djokovic seems to have some value in my eyes. What do you guys think?

I will not bet on it because I took that outright special on Đoković to win AO at the beginning of the tournament on Sportsbet - it got me like 5 freebets so far as well.

If I did not have that already, Đoković to win would be a bet I'd be interested in at such high odds. In games like these it often comes down to experience and mental toughness and Đoković has both in excess.

What a pity guys, Tsitsipas completes an epic comeback and he defeats Nadal In Melbourne. As a good Spanish tennis supporter, I wanted to see Rafael Nadal like the biggest Grand Slam winner in history but it looks like we have to wait for the next Rolland Garros Grand Slam. As all the people know and as Almagro said, Nadal will be winning Roland Garros 40 years in a row Smiley
Anyways we will support Novak since he is the other amazing player who will play the Melobourne final. Enjoy the final!

cannot be sure, but think that Djokovic will beat Medvedev, his motivation is on the peak, and what he passed on the tournament so far is really some journey, just take a look on his matches, till semi-final neither match was the easy go-through, but he is on a big scene, and while Medvedev is certainly good, and probably tougher choice on AO than even Nadal at the moment, Djokovic will win this one, no matter three, four, five sets needed (probably more than three is the best bet)

So, it is Medvedev vs Đoković for the trophy.

I expected a lot more from Tsitsipas today, he was in the game only for a brief period of the 3rd set where it seemed he could maybe turn it around. He missed a few volleys then, Medvedev had a good serve when he needed it most and won far easier than he expected.

Đoković will not give so many points the same way and I expect a long and probably even a bit boring final. Maybe not result-wise, but tennis-wise for sure.
