As I mentioned in my previous post its going to take a while before we see Federer back to match fitness. Yes he has been training and looks fit but not match fit. This is to be expected which is why I wouldn't be betting on Federer until we see him being more consistent with his matches and that he is at peak match fitness. Its sad to hear that he will be pulling out of next weeks ATP 500 tournament in Dubai but I think its the right decision until he feels that he can play up to the standard. We just hope that he doesn't end up like Murray and not be able to get back to his best.

as predicted that Federer will be able to beat Evan but this time Evan is able to get one set, Federer's experience and quality is not in doubt if he loses in the next round it is likely just due to the stamina factor.

Another match of top seeds in this tournament Thiem vs Augut, their last meet was 2018 and Thiem was able to win, it will be a tough match for him.

Yeah its going to take a few matches and tournaments for Federer to get back to 100% match fitness. Its ok to train and build up from training but its not like playing matches. I think Federer will be using this tournaments to build towards the Olympics as he will be aiming for that singles gold medal which is one title he doesn't have currently. It was great to see him back playing again and we hope that he can do well this year and get back to being a top ranked player again.
I believe Federer is a born to play tennis player due to his performance in the Doha game against Evans in spite that he undergoes rehab from two knee surgeries which literally making him not playing the game at his best, he still defeated Evans. Also, believe it will take some time before to recover 20% but we have seen another different case though due to how he played against Evans

Further even I was expecting Thiem to win his match against Bautista-Agut, but unfortunately he lost, and I hope that he’ll come back stronger and learn from this defeat.
I am seeing Thiem as a clay player and that is it. He is quite prone to unexpected loses or at least loosing a set in the match on other surfaces. I am looking to exploit handicaps on his opponents but I missed my chance yesterday. Handicap on Bautista was 3.5 if I remember correctly and that was a bit low for security. When clay season starts I am gonna bet on him destroying all opponents except maybe Nadal and Djoko. He is my first pick for RG for sure.

Takes time to get back into full match fitness and thats expected of most professional athletes after a long break/rehab. He still managed to beat Dan Evans who's been in good form recently and is a worthy opponent being top 30 in the world. Grandslams are still a bit far away so, there's plenty of time for Federer to get back into form.I'd consider the first taste back into competitive tennis as a success. Would be nice if he could have won the match against Basilashvili but it was a good show none the less.

Exactly, I don't expect Federer to go full 100% in this tournament, sort of a gauge for him. So unfortunately, he lost Basilashvili in the Quarter Finals. But at least we have seen him coming back.

As for the Thiem vs Bautista-Agut, it was a close match, I put some bet on Thiem, however the final score is 6-7, 6-2, 6-4 for Bautista-Agut. He will be facing Rublev in the Semis.

@Kemarit in my personal opinion Federer can no longer be relied to win the tournaments, and hence one should consider placing bets only on the initial matches for him, and then avoid placing bets on him. Further even I was expecting Thiem to win his match against Bautista-Agut, but unfortunately he lost, and I hope that he’ll come back stronger and learn from this defeat.

He will be facing Evans in about 12 hours from now (round 16), and I'm sure Roger will win this one.
Put some money on it then, the odds are very good around 1.5 and H2H is of course in Federer favor. He never lost a set against Evans and should take this match even if he is a bit off his best game. I doubt Federer would come to play if he is not 100% ready so he is just lacking match fitness which he should be able to overcome with experience and pure quality.

Good to see Federer getting back and he will have that extra motivation to be great again, and to be in the discussion.  He is not done yet that's for sure and that needed and extended rest will bring more passion to him in the Doha Open.

Djokovic #1 for 311 weeks a record broken!

What do you guys will anyone be able ever to beat this record 311 weeks aint a small thing.

With this record i think now he will go for the grand slam records and try to overtake both nadal and federer

That's an amazing achievement for Djokovic, when we break it down into years, its almost 6 years which is crazy to think. I will say now that I don't think we'll see this record broken within our lifetime unless there is one dominant player. Also we need to take note that Djokovic has been able to do this while we still have Nadal, Federer and even Murray at the top of their games in these years so it just makes it even more special that Djokovic has been able to achieve this. @Kemarit and I said years ago on here that Djokovic will most likely be the player to have won the most grand slams and its looking very likely now.

The only way I can see this number record broken is if we see just one player dominate tennis for years with out much competition from the other players but even with the young talent coming through, it looks like it will be spread between them all as in my opinion there is no stand out young player right now as they are all around the same mark right now.

I agree, I don't think this record will be broken the next couple of years. There is a lot of young talent nowadays (Thiem, Zverev, Tsitsipas, Kyrgios, ...) but nobody (atleast at this moment) stands out really.

Roger Federer is eager to return now in Doha Open

Great! Lets hope he can come back to the same level as before his injury!

Quote
“I just feel like the story is not over yet… I would like to get that high of playing against the best players, playing at the biggest tournaments, winning them, hopefully, and being in the conversation,” said Federer.

And I think he is motivated since Djokovic has broken his record. So it's reset for Federer, and it seems that he has recovered already and hope that he won't aggravate his old injuries so that we can see him having his second win this year.

Every record will be possible to be surpassed by other great players, but when that record can be passed it will be witnessed by the next generation, because records like this will usually last quite a long time can be more than 10 years, just look at the record for most GS holders from Steffi Graff to Serena Williams took quite a while.
Judging from the record that Djokovic currently has, it is possible for him to set another record like more GS titles.
I agree, it might take 10-15 years before someone can break that impressive record of Djokovic. When Federer established it, we are in awe and said it will be hard to break. And look at today, it was surpassed by another great tennis player.

Yes, Djokovic might end up having having the most GS titles in the modern era. He still have a lot of good tennis years ahead of him, (barring career threatening injuries).

That record will definitely hold on your years, until someone comes a long just like the rest in tennis history.

Yes, I think that is his main goal to beat Federer's record. And we can do it, still physically strong as compare to the two and no one is getting closer to him. The young guns doesn't have the mentality to challenge them in grand slam tournaments.

Rotterdam semi-finals: Tsitsipas vs Rublev

What are your thoughts on this one?

Of course I have Tsitsipas winning, but Rublev is also playing super tennis in this tournament. H2H though, Tsitsipas has the advantage, so probably a great match but I'm going to Tsitsipas to win here.

I am not betting on this one since Rublev can be quite unpredictable. He takes the ball very early and when he has his day he can win against anybody on fast surface. Tsitsipas has better H2H but all those games were close. If I had to bet I would go for over games in this match, especially if the line is set around 21,5. It will probably be higher but still worth taking since this one has 3 sets written all over for me.

You are right, Rublev is on the winning streak right now, beating my boy this time, 6-3, 7-6(2) H2H is now a tie. And that win against Tsitsipas extended streak at ATP 500 events to 19 matches. The record is held by Federer at 28.

On the other side, it was Fucsovics winning against Coric. So it will be Rublev vs Coric for the trophy this year in Rotterdam.

I didn't get to watch Tsitsipas match but it seems as though he is still struggling with playing consistent. We are now heading into the clay season where he doesn't seem to play all that well so I'll be keeping an eye on him to see if he has improved on clay.

My predictions all wrong, The final will be between Fucsovics vs Rublev, h2h 1-1 but both matches at Clay, Rublev was more favored, even more so he managed to beat Tsitsipas, but Fucsovics could not be underestimated.

Yes, I was also wrong with my previous prediction and we have an unexpected final between Marton Fucsovics and Andrey Rublev so let's enjoy the final game.

Find attached the final match details:

Have fun!

I have the same prediction with you that Tsitsipas will advance to the Final, while for other semifinals between Coric vs Fucsovics, Coric is ahead in H2H with Fucsovics and I think this is the advantage for him to advance to the final against Tsitsipas, just my prediction.

Stepanos Tsitsipas just lost the double match today, and I think it later he will have this semis with Rublev. I'm sure that it will have an effect on his body with back to back matches, just saying.

I will also go with Coric, on the second semis, and I will say that he is more battle tested than Fucsovics.
