Andrey Rublev won the title in vienna, this is the fifth title he has collected these years, and also this year the first time for him qualified for Nitto ATP Finals in London.

How many times do we see the top players losing in these smaller tournaments. It seems to always happen and most times it happens towards the end of the tennis season which I and several others have talked about on here in the past. That is why I think its very risky betting on the top players in these tournaments as I believe they don't really play at their best. Now if it was for the number 1 ranking then I would think there is something to play for but as we know Djokovic will finish the year at the top and people might say well what about the money they can win from winning these tournaments, well do you really think that money would worry Djokovic and the other top players? They already have a lot of money and that is why I think their main focus is on the major tournaments and grand slams.

Right, it had happened in the past as if they are giving some players a free pass in this smaller tournaments. But when it comes to big tournaments specially grand slams, the big 3 will take over, regardless if they have injury or not, or have a bad day, they will try to recover, even if 2 sets down because that tournament counts. Djokovic will remain the number one though so worries for him. But in Sonego's part, it is his biggest win in his career and do hope that he can continue so win in the finals so that the win against Djokovic will make it more sweeter.

yeah, Djokovic was satisfied with breaking the Federer record, and was out of motives this afternoon
happened already after RG title, when he won each GS one time, and lost motives for some time, i do not think that will happen again, it was just this tournament, and he will be good on next one, probably
Lorenzo Sonego played better tennis and won a match easily against Djokovic and it is not because Djokovic was less motivated but he had an off day and lost the game fair and square  Tongue. I did not expect this to happen and Lorenzo Sonego was rightly a heavy underdog and i bet no one placed a bet on him to win the match.
Damn, this was unexpected, did he had a off night or just dived this game? Lol, Anyways, this will motivate the remaining seeded players, like Thiem and Medvedev and an unknown Evans who defeated Dmitrov. The same Dmitrov who gives Stefanos one hell of a match and defeated the Greek Freak. So it's very unpredictable tournament, if I was to bet, I'm sure I'm going to lose already.

I don't think that Djokovic took a dive here, it's just he was really having an off night and bad form and can't shake it and the more the tried, the more unforced errors he committed. And the Italian proved that it's no fluke, as he is marching to the finals against Rublev and riding on a big momentum.

Sonego though is more than 5-1 underdog despite his win against Djokovic. Yes, it is a very attractive odd so I have no doubt that there will be tennis bettors who are going to bet on him against Rublev.

And Sonego does to the finals as he beat 6-3, 6-4 and will be facing Rublev in the finals.

Haven't check the odds, but I'm expecting that Sonego will have a good and attractive odds against Rublev in the finals. And it will be a cinderalla story for him, if he goes to win this tournament and beat Rublev although it will not be very easy as Rublev is also playing high level tennis as of the last couple of months.

If he took a dive then all the gamblers who took a big hit will put a value on his head  Cheesy. Most of the bets were for direct win for Djokovic and not only that almost all of the top seeded players crashed out on a single day which is rare, may be a group dive  Cheesy.

I was lucky that i did not place a bet because of the really low odds and never thought about wagging for the underdog which save me Kiss.

Today was the day of upsets in tennis Daniil Medvedev, Dominic Thiem and then Novak Djokovic which is by far the worst defeat in the career of Novak Djokovic because i parlayed a bet for him to win in two straight sets and he ended up loosing two straight and that too without much resistance. I wonder what the odds would have for placing a bet on all the underdogs but it is really strange that these upsets happened in a single day.

It is, it was only Rublev who left standing as the top seed in this tournament, the rest are unknown who are going to fight it out for the semis. And when we thought that Djokovic will stream roll a never heard in Sonego, he pull the biggest upset of his career in Djokovic.

My boy also lost already, and very unpredictable so it will be hard to bet on the next coming match, but I'm sure the odds will be good, even the handicaps.

I can't remember what the odds for Sonego though, but Djokovic was like 1.05 to win that match, so it will be huge, probably like 10 for Sonego.

The odds for Novak Djokovic to win was 1.02 in the betting sites i saw and to get dominated in such a fashion Lorenzo Sonego needs some props as no one expected an upset in this manner, after a good final against Rafael Nadal in the French Open and to come back against someone who is relatively unknown and getting dominated is far beyond imagination.

https://www.skysports.com/tennis/news/12110/12110078/novak-djokovic-confirms-he-will-skip-paris-masters-next-month

Djokovic confirmed that he will skip Paris Masters next month, because there is no points for him to win, since last year points will be retained, his goal is to overcome Federer as player with most weeks on the top of ATP list
It's a pity but Nadal confirmed he will be there.
Moreover there will be an audience with 1000 spectators allowed in the arena.

At least we'll see one of the big three playing and I actually think Nadal can back up his French Open win and win this tournament as its the last big tournament of the year and I'm sure he will want to finish the year on a high even though he can't get the number 1 ranking.

We all know Nadal's mentality so for sure he will want this trophy right before the season ends. Of course we want Djokovic there but he has made his decision to skip the tournament.

But there are still a lot of good players that can give Nadal a run for his money, so definitely it is still very challenging for him as a lot of young players are also coming up very quick and wanted to test the big 3 in every tournament, but Nadal will be the top seed and everyone will be going after him.

@vella85 I’m glad that Nadal is participating in this tournament, because all he needs is to win one single match to become the second player to win 1000 matches in the ATP tour.

Also what do you’ll think of Djokovic PTPA because he claims that Nadal and Federer were invited to join, but both of them decided to turn down his invitation.

Wow this was totally unexpeceted,i just seen now that he lost 6-1 6-2 against Sonego i didnt even know that was possible from Djokovic to lose against a clay player this badly, what just happened? Even thiem lost against Rublev, some wierd stuff is happening at the end of the tennis season
I sort of expected that Thiem could lose against Rublev. Rublev is very good on fast surfaces and their head to head was quite even before the match. I consider Thiem as extraordinary clay player but he can and will loose even against worse players than Rublev on other surfaces.  I a had small bet on Rublev as a part of multi but lost it on eSports games.

Djokovic loosing against Sonego is a total shocker. Did not watch the game but to see Djoko loosing 6:2 6:1 against anybody is a shock let alone against player like Sonego. I guess his focus is quite far from tennis in this smaller tournaments.

It seems to me that Djokovic has been suffering a lot more problems lately than just losing motivation.
He is focused on too many things that have nothing to do with tennis, and that is not good for him in the long run.

yeah, actually he said that he could not play today due to stress caused by the Orthodox priest in Montenegro Amfilohije dead, that happened yesterday evening, due to corona/covid, it was a bit of surprising dead, since Amfilohije was very active this year, regarding situation in Montenegro and latest elections, more can be found on the link

agree that he should be focused more on Tennis, then on other things that he is involved with

Djokovic`s path just opened clearly ,i think he will reach the finals easy and probobly win it,all the other favorites are struggling already on the start of the tournament, also Novak with the last win confirmed his 6 year win,6 times at the end of the year he is #1,federers record is also coming to an end, just a few weeks to go and Novak will be one of the greatest of all time, only thing missing are the grand slams,he already has the most master titles and all master tournaments.

I hope so, unfortunately the result vice versa, He lost from Sonego, Djokovic under performance, this match is not tough match for Sonego to defeated Djokovic.

Another suprising result is Thiem defeated from Rublev seems He got injury.

Instead of wasting time on conflict with other tennis players and starting a new association of tennis players, it would be better for him to dedicate himself completely to tennis.
Djokovic will become the greatest tennis player of all time and avoid such unnecessary defeats only if he concentrates completely on tennis and forgets everything else.
Already against the Croatian tennis player Borna Coric, it could be seen that Djokovic has problems with his performance.

I sometimes wonder what influence the supporters have in a match with tennis. In football it is clear that the home team has a lot of advantage, but how would that be in tennis?
Many fans are there for tennis, and not fans of a particular player. Or that is in any case not noticeable.

Vienna Open already in the round of 16, Anderson beating Carreno Busta, very interesting, I thought that Busta as of late are playing really good, but at 6-1 in the second set?

Djokovic also won against, it was close in the first set, maybe Djokovic started to slow, but he completely dominated the second set.

Good match, Tsitsipas vs Dmitrov and Thiem vs Garin tomorrow.

Hey welcome back Joca, I'm been following your tennis tips for years, I would say that he is one of the best tipster we have.  Grin

Yeah, I would agree that Djokovic will have a clear path on this tournament, Tsitsipas won on a 3 setter, while Thiem blasted Garin. While they are out there trying to win every match, Djokovic will have a easy opponent in QF, Sonego, so after this he will be through to the SF relatively easy. While Thiem will have t to content with Rublev, while Medvedev vs K Anderson is another tough one.
