In Austria, Zverev will play aginst Rublev. It will probably be a close match.

yes thats an interesting match up, Zverev gas found some form but Rublev will be tough
gor Zverev to beat I think.

Really tasty quarter finals in Vienna:::

The most interesting is Tsitsipas v Gojo who got a wildcard into the tournament,
and who could possibly beat Tsitsipas. His odds are 3.0!

Medvedev should win and
Sinner should win

Yeah, any of these matches could have easily been a Masters or a Grand Slam final! I watched Rublev v Zverev and it was a great match! Rublev showed more consistency and won 6-1, 6-7 (5), 6-3. Earlier, Medvedev defeated Khachanov and Tsitsipas came out victorious agains Gojo.

Sinner v Tiafoe under way at the moment Sinner taking an early lead 3:0.

Meanwhile in Basel, Holger Rune continued his winning streak with a win against Etcheverry 6:1, 3:6, 7:6.
Finally top four seeds have reached the semifinals. The matches were between Medvedev and Tsitsipas, Rublev and Sinner.
Medvedev and Tsitsipas have met 12 times and it is Medvedev to take the lead of winning 8 matches. The recent match being played in the ATP Masters 1000 Rome in which Medvedev won 7-5 7-5
Based on the head to head stats, Sinner have won 3 matches and Rublev have won 2 matches. The recent encounter between the two had taken place in this year's ATP Masters Miami. In the match Sinner had won it in the dominant manner 6-2 6-4. Lets see what happens in the upcoming matches.

Holger Rune is back! He managed to win against Baez in Basel earlier today. The Dane won 7:6, 6:1 finally giving his fans a glimpse of hope after a series of losses.

Also an interesting tournament with surprising results so far. Ruud lost in 3 sets against the Swiss Stricker. in 3 sets. As in Japan and China, the local heroes seem to outgrow themselves in such tournaments.
Even surprising that Fritz was eliminated. His opponent, Shevchenko, will play against Felix AA in the next round. Felix AA won 2 matches so far.

In Austria, Zverev will play aginst Rublev. It will probably be a close match.

Right now I'm watching Tiafoe v Monfils and the Frenchman unexpectedly took the first set 7:5. Let's see how this is going to play out.

He could still be in the hunt at year's end bid to return to the Nitto ATP Finals.
He may still be qualified for the event if the players ranked below him cannot displace him because the remaining tournaments still allow for many things to happen.

An interesting match between Medvedev vs Dimitrov in Vienna, and seeing Dimitrov being able to take the first set from Medvedev was quite interesting because in several of their meetings, Dimitrov had difficulty being able to take just 1 set and this result opened up opportunities for Dimitrov to reach the quarterfinals if he remains solid in the second set. However, Medvedev is not a player who will be easily beaten on hard courts so it looks like this will be a three-set match

Sinner v Shelton was a close match as predicted. Sinner got revenge over the American 7:6,7:5. Frankly I was hoping to see the 3rd set in this one but Sinner was too good tonight.

Btw, was I the only one who spotted the weird ballkid gear: https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/24512663/tennis-fans-baffled-ballkids-bizarre-equipment-protocol/ ?

I am sure many would have liked to see a third set. In any case, it was a good performance from Shelton. He did not make it easy for Sinner. I am curious to see how Sheltons performing is in one year. He is on a good way to get into the top 10.

The ball collector of the ball kids you mentioned also caught my eyes. If they can collect balls better with it they should keep using it.

Today at the Vienna tournament Shelton failed to get past Sinner seeded 2. Sinner won
in 2 sets with a good challenge from Shelton in the first set tie break.

We already have some tasty lineups in the round of 16 tomorrow, Sinner plays Sonego,
Sinner should beat his countryman, I have no odds yet.

Medvedev, Tsitsipas, Paul, Rublev and Tiafoe through also...

Last match for today is Zverev v Norrie, Zverev ahead by 1 set, Norrie has been a bit
dissapointing recently.
The first set was a real fight as Sinner won the set 77-62. Even in the second set Shelton couldn't finish as Sinner took advantage and kept his lead. Sinner's next match against Sonego and this is going to be a win for Sinner.

Based on my prediction to reach the quarter finals are Rublev, Medvedev, Tsitsipas, Tiafoe, Paul, Sinner. Already two have reached the quarter finals.

Other than this, already Zverev have confirmed his quarter final entry winning against Norrie and Khachanov have confirmed his position winning against Lehecka.

With this win he has moved up to place 14 in the ATP ranking and is getting closer and closer to the top ten. Shelton is probably the biggest hope for the USA at the moment. In any case he is showing good development.
This week he is playing the tournament in Vienna (Austria) and will play against Sinner in the first round at 25.10. I think he can go very far in this tournament.

Definitely one to watch for the future and could easily go to the US #1 spot. He does
play Sinner next who is seeded #2 so its a tough one.

Both have played against each other one time so far. That was at the Shanghai Masters. Shelton had won then. But only because Sinner had a tough match in Beijing before. And  Sinner has not played a tournament since then and therefore he is better rested for this match. But Shelton has certainly gained a lot of confidence and with his young naivety he could beat Sinner. After that he could make it to the semi-finals.

And Shelton takes the tournament title!

Karatsev yesterday beat Mochizuki after play was suspended for a time but he failed to overcome

Dimitrov v Musetti has just started, I expect Dimitrov to win this one, he has been
playing good recently and Musetti has been quiet.

Earlier Tsitsipas, Paul and Rublev won which would be expected.

From an Italian point of view Sonego is leading Cerundolo ATM...

Very interesting lineup tomorrow at the Vienna open, most notably Shelton v Sinner! that
promises to be a cracking match.

Odds have Sinner as favourite @ 1.27 against Shelton @ 3.89. I think they are a bit skewed
and Shelton could be worth a bet at that price.

This is a big tournament, Medvedev, Zverev, Sonego, Musetti and Karatsev are all playing tomorrow!

And it continues with the poor performance of Felix Auger-Aliassime. He managed to win two games in a row. But against Giron from USA it was over and he lost in two sets. So it comes to a semi-final between the USA. Shelton against Giron. Shelton is the favourite in this match and he has the possibility to enter the final. And how it looks, he will win this tournament in Tokyo.

And Shelton takes the win in a battling 3 set match, two tie breaks and only one
break of serve in the third set. Shelton is on his way to a possible first ATP title
if he wins this, which I think he has a very strong chance.

He will be facing either Mochizuki or Karatsev, TBH I can see him beating both but
the home guy Mochizuki is a bit unknown.

Its amazing how none of the top 10 players are in the reconing....

I checked the odds for hese two when it was 1-1 in the first set and they were even.

Tsitsipas failed to get past Fils in the semi final at Antwerp, he got beaten over 2 sets.

Fils now faces Bublik, seeded 4 and 3 respectively. Looking at the odds Fils is favourite
at 1.74 and Bublik is at 2.1, I'm doing a small bet on Bublik.

Tsitsipas v Hanfmann
Tsitsipas has been out of form for a while and he stopped the bad run with a win against Van De Zandschlup. Today he has a more serious match against Hanfmann. Hanfmann played a long 3-set match against Thiem and this is in Tsitsipas' favor. Still, Tsitsipas is not very confident this season and even if he wins, it could be a long match.
He is a great player but seems to have difficulty showing his greatness so some tournaments can only last a few rounds, if he can win and get to the final and can be champion it is actually normal because he also did it at the ATP 250 Los Cabos and it looks like it will be a second title for this year.
Tsitsipas has changed his coach several times and recently he has done it again while still having his father as one of his team. We will see whether the change in coach will make a difference to his career, as well as Holger Rune who is no longer with Patrick Mouratoglou and now he has appointed Boris Becker as the coach because he was quite disappointed with the results he got this year.
Boris Becker has quite a tough task because at the end of October, there will be the Paris Masters where Rune is the defending champion. If he hasn't found his best form, the title will be lost and many young players will have difficulty defending the title.

Yeah, and it seems that Tsitsipas won against Hanfmann,

https://twitter.com/atptour/status/1715436948876153211

I haven't follow my tennis for months now, however, there could be some members here who knows that I'm a big fan of Tsitsipas way before he really had a break out performance like years ago. However, I will have to agree as a big fan of his that he hasn't reach his full potential, or maybe did peak already and now he can't pass that stage to become great as there are players that have over took him recently.

He could still be in the hunt at year's end bid to return to the Nitto ATP Finals.

But as you can see in women tennis there is not a single players that wins tournament in a row like Djokovic does in atp tennis

Two names come to my mind: Naomi Osaka and Iga Swiatek. They are potentially capable of this, Iga even had a long winning streak of 30-something matches won in a row. Unfortunately, big money kills motivation.

Fils v Varillas
Varillas is a racket we know for his good clay court game, but here he surprised everyone, beating Marozsan and Shevchenko. He is up against the talented young Fils. Fils is one of the most effective servers on the tour and he showed that he can be good under pressure, winning 2 tie-breaks against Lajal. I'd say he's close to victory again today.
