Sometimes at the end of the tournament season it will seem less interesting because more top players have chosen to rest to prepare for the next season and also the top 8 players are already concentrating on the ATP Finals, and the tournament at the end of the season is an opportunity for players whose rankings are still far away to get points because they can get a balanced opponent.

Schevchenko is a pretty good player and compared to Herbert, Shevchenko will have a chance of winning this semifinal match, and facing Humbert or Fognini in the final will be an interesting final match.

Sofia Open, the two semifinal matches of Struff vs Draper will be a match between two players with big service and it is quite difficult to predict who will win and go to the final, Kotov vs Mannarino will probably be more of a rally, and Mannarino will have the opportunity to win the title again if successful to the final and a few months ago managed to become champion at the Astana Open

Semi finals over at Metz Paris its a chance for lesser ranked players on the ATP tour
to win a tournament.

Surprisingly Fognini beat Sonego yesterday and plays Humbert today. Humbert seeded 4
is favourite @ 1.23 but TBH I wouldnt be surprised if Fognini pulls off another win @ 4.3,
could be worth a bet!

Shevchenko plays Herbert of France, this could go either way, Shevchenko favourite @ 1.45

The ATP Finals are a few days away, and seeing how Djokovic, after losing at Wimbledon, managed to win several titles and has not been defeated, again he will be the favorite in the last tournament of the year, and also Alcaraz, who actually got the opposite result after Wimbledon, will try to end this year with a prestigious title.
However, apart from Medvedev, there is Sinner who is also very ready for this big event.
This will be an event that will feature matches with the best quality tennis and of the eight players competing, some will have quite a small chance of getting to the semifinals, Rublev and Tsitsipas are quite weak in my opinion.

As it stands from 8th to 5th is Zverev, Ruud, Tsitsipas and Rublev. I cant see them
beating the top 4, Sinner, Medvedev, Alcaraz and Djokovic so indeed the semi
finals should be the top 4 and its hard to see anyone beating Djokovic at this stage.

It highlights what we were saying yesterday about the current crop of "top 8" players,
they are competitive among themselves but Djokovic stands out from them somewhat.

He wins an average of 5 titles a year so in 3 years, he could beat that but he will already be 39. Right now, he is still in top shape but things can change quickly (look at Federer and Nadal). So chances exists that he could break that record but I wouldn't put a lot of money on it.

In Tennis you also need to be lucky about which era you became professional.

For example, Pete Sampras was a phenomenal athlete. He was number 1 from 1993 to 1998. It would have been very difficult for other athletes to win their tournaments if Sampras was still playing.

Considering that Đoković hasn't lost to Dimitrov in more than 10 years, it was expected that he'll lift another title.
It's truly impressive how dominant he still can be aged 36.

This is his 97th title, and one of the rare records he hasn't broken yet is Connors's 109 total titles. Can he do it?

If I had to bet, I'd bet against it. But he's a mental monster, if he puts his aim to it he'll play until 45 if he has to in order to achieve it.

Tournament in Metz Paris. Wawrinka vs. van Assche:
Wawrinka had good results in indoor games last year after his break due to injury.  Unfortunately, he has not been able to play on that level this year year and so his balance is even for indoor games. He is also noticing his age and recently said that he needs more time to recover.
Van Asche's games have been more positive this year and so he can go into this match with more confidence.
Wawrinka is the favourite in this match due to his extensive experience. It will be difficult for him if the match goes too long. Then it will be easier for van Asche.
Seems a match for a live bet.

Unfortunately Wawrinka couldnt overcome van Assche, it was over in 2 sets. Its a pity but
Stan is another who is close to retirement and wont be winning any tournaments next year,
age and the threat of injury followed by a long recouperation holds hime back.

Interestingly Fognini overcame Bublik today which is something I didnt think was going to happen,
Bublik really hasnt been able to progress further this year in his performance since winning
that tournament earlier in Halle and losing a final in the European Open against Fils.

2 of the top 6 seeded players are in the quarter finals, Khachanov and Humbers, Sonego is playing
currently against Shelbayh, he shouls win that.

It will be touch and go really, he needs 13 more titles to beat that record. Going by this years performance
of 6 titles it will take him another 2 years approximately. He still have the mental strength, skills and fitness
but he needs to maintain this level and not get injured.

Yes I would probably bet against it too realy.

Looking at it statistically - he won his first trophy in 2006 I think and has 97 titles - meaning that he is winning an average of 5.7 titles per year.
He's won 5 last year and is currently on 6 in 2023.

He'd have to keep averaging the same until he's 39 years old in order to achieve it. Probably doable, but definitely not likely.
The only thing working in his favor is that the current crop of players is below the standard we've been used to in the last 20 years or so.

Yes I agree that currently the quality is not as it was with Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Murray and
because he is the last of the 4 still playing top tennis he can continue his winning levels.

Its interesting that his average is 5.7 titles per year and he is still on that average winning streak.

Also it has to be said that of the current players there are a few who could possibly improve like:
Alcaraz, Rune and Sinner.

There are those who could still maintain their current level: Medvedev, Rublev, Tsitsipas and Zverev,
meaning they are probably not going to improve IMO.

And all the rest will either marginally improve but not enough to reach top 5.

Thats how I'm seeing it now so if Alcaraz can improve and take a few GS's next year he will be a
big obstacle to Djokovic beating that 109 title record.

Novak Djokovic is the best racket and the best athlete of all time, winning his 7th title at the Paris Masters, his 40th masters trophy and 97th trophy in total. With this victory, I can say that he is guaranteed to finish the year as the winner for the 8th time. It will be enough for him to get through the first round of the ATP finals. Djokovic was in control throughout the whole match and won almost effortlessly. Each of his points received a standing ovation as usual. He is the most tournament winner among active players, a great experience and a mental genius.

Even though he's 37, he never stops. He never will. I'm very lucky to watch him. He's fighting tooth and nail against two generations below him and he's won 3 grand slams and 2 masters this season. There are very few records left to break. He will break them and that's how he will end his career.

Dimitrov won the match and he qualified for the final while Djokovic also won the match over Rublev to qualify for the final.
The final match was held yesterday and Djokovic won it in two sets. In this final match it looks like Djokovic is still quite agile even though he is quite old.

This is the title that Djokovic has won for the umpteenth time, even now I think Djokovic is still one of the best tennis players in history because what he has achieved cannot be achieved by most tennis players, even young players.

Djokovic can also still maintain his first ranking in the ATP with 9945 points and is followed by Alcaraz and Medvedev.
Yesterday's final match did not live up to expectations because Dimitrov was quite easily beaten by Djokovic, there was hope that this would be a tight match but unfortunately, Djokovic can always find a way to take his opponent's game so at the Paris Masters it was the three matches before the final that gave Djokovic the strong resistance that must be passed through the deciding set.

The WTA Final in Cancun, which was supposed to be the last tournament with all the best players, went very sadly, the stadium was not good and the weather was bad so several matches were postponed and there were players who had to play two matches in one day, also the final was delayed one day from the schedule to be held November 7, Mexico time, which should have been the 6th.
The chaos in this event made Martina Navratilova call for a change in leadership at the WTA Source

I can understand what you say about top players losing to lower ranked players but
on this recent case Sinner technically wasnt beaten, he forfeit the match to de Minaur.

Todays semi finals are:

Dimitrov v Tsitsipas - I wouldnt bet on this one, Dimitrov could well beat Tsitsipas
but also Tsitsipas could actually make it to the final.

Djokovic v Rublev - I cant see Djokovic losing this and either playing Tsitsipas or Dimitrov
in the final will mean he will beat either of the two.

Wow they were some semifinal matches, both went to 3 sets each and both had tie breakers.
As I kind of suspected Dimitrov beat Tsitsipas or maybe its more that Tsitsipas lost the match?
For a top player who has have some many great things written about him he isnt really delivering.
Anyway Dimitrov is really performing well this year and is in the final against Djokovic who had
a tough match yesterday against Rublev 5-7, 77-63, 7-5

The odds for today are not outragous: Djokovic 1.31 - 3.5 Dimitrov

Is it worth a bet on Dimitrov? maybe under 24.5 @ 1.64...

Yeah, Djokovic v Rublev was one hell of a match. Watched it yesterday, the level of both players was extremely high, some serve returns by Djokovic were out of this world...

On a not so positive note, my combo bet yesterday didn't work because of some undisclosed Greek player  Grin

Meanwhile in Cancun, semifinals of WTA Finals tournament went on. Jessica Pegula breezed past compatriot Gauff 6:2, 6:1. Second semifinal Swiatek-Sabalenka was suspended at 2:1 in favor of Swiatek.

A few of us here have stopped betting on Tsitsipas, ge has become somewhat unpredictable.

They were the same on Rune the other day - and that bet made sense to me.
Đoković is 11-1 against Dimitrov, and hasn't lost against him since 2013.

I'm not saying he can't win - but I'd need odds at around 6 to have a go at it.

Ah it was a win for Djokovic anyway in two sets, handy enough and if I had done the
under bet it would have won. Djokovic way too strong in the end and Dimitrov was
very emotional, he has been playing great lately and obviously had himself pumped
up that he was going to win today....

lots of news today in Italian newspapers reporting Sinner's retirement from Paris.
there is no doubt that this game schedule can clearly disadvantage some players, but it seems that ATP has no intention of doing anything about it...
The problem is that the tournament schedules from one to another are too close, so it is almost impossible to postpone the match because it is late at night because the next day the players will play two matches which are much more detrimental, but if I am not mistaken what is being questioned is that the organizers did not allow the match to be held at other court whose match schedules have finished so the reason is always about economics.
Women's tennis players have also experienced how the match schedule is very unreasonable, because of the rain delay in Montreal, Elena Rybakina, who finished the quarter-final match at 3:30 AM because the match starts at 11.59 PM and 02.00 PM needed to play the semifinal match with the final schedule at 4:00 PM, she lost in the semifinal against Samsonova and Samsonova losing to Pegula who had had more time off and the match score showed how it was not a masters 1000 final 6-1 6-0, Rybakina said that the schedule damaged her mentally.

Paris Semifinals: Dimitrov vs Tsitsipas and Djokovic vs Rublev, Rublev certainly feels this is a big challenge because he has only won once against Djokovic and he said how disappointed he was when he lost at Wimbledon because he felt he was ready enough to fight Djokovic but apparently he wasn't able to beat him and Dimitrov is on fire, maybe we will see Djokovic vs Dimitrov in the final but this is just my prediction because Tsitsipas and Rublev also have the same chance of getting to the final.
