Congratulations to Djokovic. With 7 titles, he is the sole record winner at the ATP Finals.
And he almost did not reach the semi-finals. But in this final he showed Sinner who is the number 1. He needed only 38 minutes for the first set. What a performance. And the second set started breathtakingly again. A break in the first game and then fighting off two break chances from Sinner.
Nevertheless, Sinner can be proud of himself and next year will certainly be a very good year for him.

Due to his playstyle, Nadal had huge issues with injuries even when he was young.
I really feel he should not be pushing his body anymore - and I think he will not be able to return properly.

I understand the need to try and stop Đoković, but whereas Novak looks like he can play for a few more years, you can clearly see how much Nadal is struggling every time he's on the court.

Of course it will be great to see Rafa back in action for next year. From this article it sounds
like ATM he is still building

https://www.tennis.com/baseline/articles/rafael-nadal-confirms-he-ll-play-in-2024-things-are-going-in-the-right-direction

Reading between the lines its touch and go as to how competitive he will be and I
would say this could be his last year, hopefully not though but I think the chances are
high that he gets injured again.

I sincerely believe that I will return to play

I can’t say at what level I’ll be able to return, but I’ve never lost the desire to play and
now it seems that things are going in the right direction.

I'm not ready to say whether it will be in one place or another, but I'm happy with how things are going

This time I saw more voices on this forum saying that Sinner probably has a great chance to win the game, but what can I say... Djokovic is Djokovic and he did everything to mute those voices and go in two straight sets. I also thought that this could very well go into a third set and I ask myself whether Sinner played worse than the last few days or whether Djokovic didn't take any prisoners from the first second to the last. If this was a three set game, it would look like Sinner may have been close and besides winning this tournament, I believe that Djokovic also wanted to let the pro-Sinner crowd know who the boss is. And he did.

Sinner definitely played worse today, how many unforced errors he committed? 20? 25? Anyway it was a lot. Djokovic's serve was flawless tonight. He also attacked Sinner's backhand quite aggressively. All in all the Serb deserved this win. I admire his ability to play at his age at the top level.

I hope from the bottom of my heart that Nadal can start all the tournaments without health issues in 2024. Nothing would be worse than him having to say goodbye on his final ATP tour because of yet another injury. I have my doubts that we will see Djokovic against Nadal in one of the final rounds of a Grand Slam again, but if it's coming, both should be in their best physical condition and play their best tennis. If I had one wish for the 2024 tennis year, Nadal - Djokovic in the French Open final! Wink  Smiley

Anyway, Sinner v Djokovic again. TBH I fear for Sinner, Djokovic is treating this as another record
which has to be broken. He is level with Federer on 6 Finals wins, he will want to beat that.

it will definitely be an epic match... one of the main reason is that Sinner is the first Italian tennis player to reach this milestone and in the event of victory he would reach a historic record also in terms of prize money won (over 4 million dollars).
last but not least, he is playing in Torino Roll Eyes and italians love see other italians achieve such high results Tongue

Djokovic is always a "loose cannon", he will do everything to win I'm sure...

That final was a replay of the Alcaraz v Djokovic semi final yesterday, the net again was
Sinner's enemy, way too many errors, completely different Sinner . . .

Ouch, I picked the wrong tournament to bet against Đoković. The odds were simply too attractive but neither Medvedev nor Sinner came close to an upset.

Đoković learned quite a bit from his recent loss against Sinner and adapted much better - that's what experience does at this level.
It's incredible how he can still perform the way he does at his current age. I don't think he'll return any worse next year.

Djokovic really couldnt too much wrong, thats final time, Djokovic plays differently, he knows what
matches are more important than others. He more than liklely knew losing to Sinner earlier in the week
was not detrimental and probablt knew he would meed him again in the final . . . just as some here
on the board did too!

I also think next year wil be a continuation of 2023 for Djokovic.

Sinner is in a really good form and won against a player that is really good on hard court. Sinner so far with all wins on this tournament and has one more step to win probobly the biggest tournament in his career. Djokovic is tired because he played all matches in three sets but i wouldnt count him out. It will be close for sure.

The second semi final between Alcaraz and Djokovic should be interesting to watch. Haven’t followed tennis in a bit so will not place any bets on it, but Djokovic to win @1.7 is a nice value. He might be tired, but he is still the best right now.

What a match by Djokovic he destroyed Alcaraz in straight sets. I never seen Alcaraz getting mad that he throws the racket. We will see a rematch between Sinner and Djokovic and i think this will an entire new match due to Djokovic playing finals much better then regular matches and Sinner will be under pressure
Thats a big defeat. Alcaraz could've never thought of such a loss against Djokovic. Much expected game have ended in a very short time. It is kind of revenge game from Djokovic, and it will take time for Alcaraz to come prepared from the loss. Djokovic once again proved that he's experienced one.

That was one very frustrating match to watch, Alcaraz was playing great in the first 3 games
of the first set and then it fell apart he just made way too many errors.

The second set picked up from where the first left off, while Djokovc was doing his thing, Alcaraz
wasnt, he had a purple patch in the 6th game of that set where everyone thought " this is it, its
game on now" but it ended there and very little seemed to be working for him, drop shots, volleys
or slices were going into the net.

Anyway, Sinner v Djokovic again. TBH I fear for Sinner, Djokovic is treating this as another record
which has to be broken. He is level with Federer on 6 Finals wins, he will want to beat that.

agree here, didn't watch a lot, but I find it hard to believe that Djokovic is going to lose tonight
IMO, Sinner made a mistake with a win over Rune, that let Djokovic to went through, he would have easier schedule with Rune passing through

nevertheless, probably a three setter tonight between Alcaraz and Djokovic should be expected, and a fun night that will close with a Djokovic point

The best players are meeting in the semifinals. I honestly felt Medvedev had what it takes to kick out Alcaraz, but Carlos was better in most of the important points.
If they do meet in the final, I'll bet on Medvedev once again - I feel it's really close and that he's the best player in the world on hard surface on his day.

Will be a great 2 days of tennis - it's really too tough to call who the finalists will be.

Sinner has just defeated Medvedev in a 3 set thriller. Sinner was very confident all throughout the match, winning the first set 6:3, losing the second set on a tie-breaker 6:7 and then easily winning the decider 6:1. The Russian failed to take several serve games that eventually lead to his defeat from the hands of Sinner.

I won't be betting on the second semifinal but a have a gut feeling Alcaraz will win that one.

I recommend this video...
https://video.repubblica.it/sport/il-bambino-e-il-campione-il-momento-di-felicita-della-mascotte-che-accompagna-sinner-in-campo/457129/458091?ref=RHCV-BG-P1-S3-F

As you can see Sinner is really a great man!!!
He perfectly embodies the spirit of the Italian, kind, polite, respectful... he doesn't "get bold" even if he could, truly a champion of other times.
And above all, it is practically certain that he will become the most titled tennis player in this nation .

Let's wait for the next match, even if he has some "back-pain" I am pretty sure he will put any effort to defeat the Russian player.

Yes thats a great article, that mascott was so proud.

Quote
"Come on Jannik, we're all with you. Please, win!"

All I can say is WOW for Sinner, he won in 3 sets with the final set 6-1. His last service game
was very impressive.

It was a nervy match with both Sinner and Medvedev making a lot of errors and Jannik's
service game was not great. He will have to improve that for tomorrow's final against either
Alcaraz or Djokovic, I hope for Sinner it is Alcaraz.

Can he win again against Djokovic?

Odds for the winners of second semi final, Alcaraz 2.2 - 1.68 Djokovic.

today we have two great games, Jannik Sinner will play against Daniil Medvedev. This will be a very interesting game because we are facing two great tennis players, with Sinner currently being number 4 in the world and having achieved a good performance in this tournament so far, he will play against a strong opponent who currently occupies the number 3 position in the world . In my opinion, although Sinner is being seen as the favorite, he also performed well and I see that he will win the game with difficulty. I have seen on some YouTube channels people commenting that Medvedev had won, I disagree and if I were to bet on this game, I would bet on the sinner to win the game

the second game is Carlos Alcaraz against Novak Djokovic, in this game Novak Djokovic is being seen as the favorite to win. but it won't be an easy game for novak, because Carlos Alcaraz, who currently occupies the number 2 position in the world, after losing to Zverev, he managed to recover to the point of winning in the next game against Andrey Rublev and then he won again in the game against Daniil Medvedev, which clearly shows that he comes to this game with a lot of optimism and determination to achieve victory, while Djokovic had victory in the game against Holger Rune, then lost in the game against Jannik Sinner and then in the game against Hubert Hurkacz who is ranked number 9 in the world, he won, but it can be seen that Novak is playing in a way to save himself physically. In my opinion, Novak would win this game against Carlos Alcaraz
