It looks like it might be a rematch of nadal and theim since djokovic plays him in the quarter finals tomorrow but I think theim is on a roll after beating federer in three sets.

Have gone for Thiem to win the match against Federer because Thiem has confidence after defeating Nadal in the previous tourney but right now Federer is dominating and Thiem is struggling . I guess this will go to 3 sets and although Fed is leading right now its still 50/50.

Just watched the end of Thiem vs. Fognini match and they both played some incredible tennis. Thiem prevailed in the end and he looks like he will be going far in the tournament again.

It was indeed a close match, 6-4,7-6 for Thiem, he will be facing Federer next in the quarter finals, as Roger needed 3 sets to win over Monfils. And then we have Djokovic vs Cilic on the other side. Nadal, Zverev and Tsitsipas already through.

On the womens, Osaka lost to Bencic in quarter finals. So it's now Bencic vs Halep in semis. While Bertens conquers Kvitova in QF.

Match are getting interesting.

The Madrid Open is going to start heating up with all the big names making it through to the round of 16. There is one match I'm looking forward to and that is the Federer/Monfils match up, Monfils is a great clay court player so lets see if he can test Federer and push him hard in this match. Then we'll get an idea on how well Federer is going on clay. Also another good match up is Fognini v Thiem, these are the only two matches were seeded players are playing each other, the other matches should see the seeded players go through to the next round.

Exactly, we are getting closer now. Yup, Federer vs Monfils is very interesting and I'm sure Federer will be push in this match. Del Potro lost and so is Coric. Fognini vs Thiem will be good as well. Djokovic will have an easy time against Chardy so I'm expecting him to get to the quarterfinals easy as compare to other top rank players.

I dont want to tell that Krygios is very inconsistent because I would have sounded like a broken record, but it is what it is. He and Tomic are also ousted in the doubles as well. Anyhow, almost the seeded players are thru to the next round (round of 32) so this will get more exciting.

Was surprised that Naomi Osaka was pushed to 3 sets in the womens side Sara Sorribes Tormo, but he is a hometown girl so fans are cheering for her. Pliskova though is out as she losses to Vekic.

The Madrid Open has started with the qualifiers and the round of 64 starting on Monday. Its good to see Federer back playing on clay after 3 years out, he is in the same half as Djokovic, Thiem and Juan Martin del Potro, while Nadal has Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas that will likely be opponents standing between him and the final. This is going to be a great tournament to watch as all the big names are here to play. Good luck to the ones who will be betting in this tournament.
This is the kind of tournament I've been waiting for a long time now and surely I'm not the only one waiting for this. I'm just hoping that all of this top seeds will not be eliminated in first rounds like it happened in last tournaments and well see some very entertaining matches in the quarter and semi-finals. Maybe a final between Federer and Nadal will be great.

Yes lets hope its not like the previous tournaments where the big name players are knocked out early on. I too would like to see the big names playing in the quarter and semi finals. Lets just hope that Federer gets through and then goes onto playing in the French Open.

There could be surprises, that's for sure. Lots of young prospect are playing without pressure so I'm seeing may a couple who could reach as high as QF before being steam roll by the veterans. Did I see N. Kyrgios already eliminated? Damn by boy Auger Aliassime will be facing Nadal in his next match. It will be difficult for him but let's hope he gives us a good showing. Fognini vs Edmund is another good match to watch in the round of 64.

In other news, Tsitsipas defeated Cuevas, 6-2, 7-6 to to capture the Millennium Estoril Open crown.

Yeah Kyrgios seems to have lost his way since losing early on at the Australian Open.

This is the clasic Kyrgios we are seeing these days, the player that's here only for the entertainment and doesn't care about the end result. I don't know what the heck is wrong with this guy, as he could easily be in top 10 if he wanted to. It seems like 90% of the time he's just bored and tennis court is like a pain in the ass for him.

So far the top seeds have made it through to the next round, it was good to see Cilic make it through even though he had to do it in three sets. Monfils also made it through in straight sets and a guy we don't hear much about anymore, Gasquet who is also though to the next round.

There's a lot of matches currently on-going. Wawrinka is up against Herbert and so is Medveded, De Minaur vs Hurkacz is interesting.  Djokovic vs Fritz in about an hour from now, and so is Fognini vs Edmund.

Kyrgios, well, he has been so inconsistent this year and another early exit. He needs to get his self up again if he wanted to win another tournament in 2019.

Yeah its great to see so many matches going on. We have our first upset with Medvedev losing to Guido Pella in three sets. Djokovic, Federer and Thiem are all through to the next round, Thiem was lucky after losing the first set and then Opelka retiring.

^I am mostly looking forward to see how well will Federer perform on clay. I will definitely not bet on him in initial rounds before I manage to see his level of adoption to surface he didn't play on for long time. Maybe kh on his opponents could prove lucrative. We shall see.
Do not get surprise other players too are doing their best to rise their fame and fortune in playing this great sports. I am a tennis player and this is why I always see not those good players but rather those starters that has the potential to become great in the sports. Well, who among of the players you had in your mind? I will leave that to you.

I’m excited to see Federer back on clay but I very well know it he’s not going to win it, the number of tough competitors has increased tremendously. The biggest thorn for Federer will be Nadal who’s unbeatable on clay, but then again you can’t rule out Djokovic too. I’ll agree with you this is one of the best tournament we have seen in a while where all major stars are competing, I feel it’ll be a gamblers paradise and we all can make lots of money.

Guys, Federer will not play French open, he simply doesn't want to spend his energy on clay. It is most demanding surface (physically) and his worst. He is enjoying 6 weeks of holidays before giving his best on grass part of the season. He always choose his tournaments carefully and older he gets he will remove more and more tournaments so he can give his best on the ones he is playing.

Yeah the chances of him playing this year's French Open is slim, but we can't  discount the possibility that he "might" enter this year. Yes it's demanding and this is like his weakness but then again we wanted to see him and maybe win this tournament even for the last time. He is very selective and that is good so that we can see him play more tennis. But this tournament could be a final nail in his storied career if he ever win this year.

I just read article about Nadal in local newspaper which shortly referenced that Nadal will be playing Madrid next weak and they wrote that Federer will be in the Madrid as well. If that is true and not some sort of typo/mistake then I have been wrong and Federer will surly play French open.

I think Federer is going to play as I read an article in the Australian media that Federer is planing on playing this clay court season as he feels his body is right to play. Like I mentioned in my last post, it has been his back that has been putting him off playing the clay court season so I guess he feels that his back is 100% right to play. Its going to be an amazing tournament with all the top name players playing, now we will see what Thiem is made of coming up against all these top players.

Right, he already confirmed it so I'm sure he feels healthy this time and could be preparing for this tournament as early as two months ago. I think the top players will win this trophy again. I don't see anyone close to at least upset someone as this stage. We have a lot of good upcoming talents, but this is the big stage, wherein the top players love to show their prowess. I don't know if Thiem can replicate his performance this year, but we will see, it's going to be a big test for him and proved that he is really a clay court specialist as well.
