Just when you think Kyrgios has got it together after winning the Mexican Open he goes and does something like lose in his match against Philipp Kohlschreiber. Not only that he got frustrated an angry during the match breaking his racket and even throwing his shoes into the crowd which I thought was funny but still he lost it once again. This is what Kemarit and I have been talking about on here for the past year, Kyrgios will never be a great player until he sorts out his issues.

And just now alexander zverev loses in straight sets. What is with these top seeded players losing all their games in this tournament?
I think just because I place alittle bet on them earlier yesterday they all have to fall over and get get hammered in their games. Roll Eyes

Was watching a few matches for indian wells tournament and noticed some favorites to win lost today.
Puig lost her match then right afterwards kyrios. Both in straight sets.
So this tournament is full of upsets for the higher ranking players.

Yes I remember this well even though I was young at the time but I remember watching this with my grandfather and we thought who is this young Women beating the best Women's player in the world at the time and now Serena would have to be the greatest Women's tennis player of all time. Osaka will be hard to beat in this tournament and I think she will be hard to beat all year, can Osaka win all four Grand Slams this year? I think she can go close, what does everyone else think?

Good question. I think we should look at the top 5 ladies right now and see how she gauge against the competition.

2. S. Halep
3 P. Kvitová
4 S. Stephens
5 K. Plíšková

~ snip ~

I think the only thing that can stop Osaka this year is an injury or she loses her winning mentality which can sometimes happen in tennis and sports in general. All these players are great however Osaka I think is above them right now and just think that she is so young. Halep might be tough to beat on clay however she needs to get her winning mentality back. The French Open will be interesting to watch as I want to see how Osaka goes on clay.

Right. That's why I put up the list so that we can see how Osaka is above the rest in the ladies division. I think we have seen her slip early this year when she was affected mentally about the news of her break up with her coach, so she needs to keep focus and not be influenced so to speak. Same here, I wanted her to play in clay and see how she peform, her 2 slams are in a fast court, so it's going to be interesting if he can play her usual in a slow court like clay this French open.

Yes this is the question my friend, can Osaka perform as well on clay as she does on hard courts. Wimbledon will also be interesting as sometimes the grass courts can be slow. We know that Halep and Kvitova are great players on clay so lets see what happens with the upcoming clay season.

Anyone is watching Berdych vs Lopez  and Young vs Hurkacz? I am just observing the matches as someone predicted that Hurkacz and Berdych win in these matches. Interested to see his claims.

However, I think Hurkacz should win since he is far ahead in the ranking than his opponent. The Berdych vs Lopez match can go either way but I will give Berdych the advantage.

Paire v Guneswaran going on right now

Indian is up by 1 set and is looking strong in second set too . If he manages to pull this off , it will be one of the best victory in his career .

Looks like Guneswaran pulled one of his biggest upset this year 7-6, 6-4, in almost one and one half hours. He could land in the top 80 at least because of this win. It's interesting to note that Guneswaran mentioned about the windy conditions. We might see some upset if players are not accustomed to this kind of conditions. Still a long way to go to, its round of 128 so let's see if other rated player will faltered along the way.

I think with that competition, she definitely had a edge right now and the thing with here is that she is still very young, just like Serena did early, Naomi will continue to dominate the tournament and the odds are very high for her to win all four Slams this year.

For history buffs: 20 years ago in March 1999, in this tournament, a young American tennis player by the name of Serena Williams vs Steffi Graf. But we all know what happened that day as Serena over powered Graf 6-3, 3-6, 7-5. I remember this day because I was stateside that time and watching the game live on TV. And 20 years later, Serena, perhaps slowed down, but still a power in the WTA. Naomi Osaka is the defending champion in the women's side, while Juan Martin Del Potro, but we won't see a repeat champions as there are reports that he withdraw already.

Sorry mate, next is the BNP Paribas Open to be held on March 6 - 17, and then Miami Open after that. So couple of days from now. Not into cricket though, I'll probably go out again and try my luck in a land based casino if I got bored here (about 9:00 pm, local time.) Grin
Ah I will need to wait few more days then.

Anyway, I won some real gambling in the PSL. I was betting on balls. So, it was very good evening for me so far.  I don't visit land based casinos that often. It's dangerous for me.

Nick Kyrgios has won the Mexican Open title beating Zverev in straight sets 6-3 6-4. Kyrgios has claimed his fifth ATP title and I must say that this would have to be one of his best title wins in his career only because he beat Nadal, Wawrinka and another top ten player in John Isner on route to the title where he beat the world number 3 Zverev so that is why I think it was his biggest title win so far. Now he just needs to produce this in grand slams.

Krygios defeated Zverev in the Acapulco 6-3, 6-4. It was a good week for Nick, as he has defeated a lot o good players including Nadal, but again, he really needs to be consistent and stay away from controversies. Of course he can boast because of this win, but how about when he started losing against good players? What's his excuses?

@Indamuck - I think we have a discussions about one a few months back, maybe you can back read few of our comments.

Roger Federer - 20 majors
Nadal - 17
Djokavic - 15

Do you guys think that Nadal or Djokavic will be able to reach Roger Federer's majors record by the end of their careers?
I will pick Djokavic over Nadal. Problem with Nadal is his injuries where Djokavic is a very fit player. When it's Nadal Vs Djokavic, I always found Djokavic to win the matches comfortably. Imagine Djokavic is playing with the same ups and downs for the next five years. He will surely take more than 20 majors in Tennis.

Another title for Federer but Tsitipas played really good match today. He was matching Federer stroke for stroke except in first and last service games where he was a bit shaky and Federer took advantage of it. This was the best match I watched this season and I believe we will see both of these players in later stages of the tournaments this year.

Congrats to Federer he entered the tournament slowly but finished it superbly Smiley

Roger Federer never ceases to amaze us all. I would say that he took the young Tsitipas to school today. Although he was able to match Federer, at the end of the day, Federer's experience was too much. And I don't think that this lost will put a tool on the kid. Playing Federer in a finals is almost like giving you experiences, so I hope Tsitipas learn a lot from his lost and will take this as a challenge for him to become the next tennis star in the future.

Edit: In about 10 hours or so, it's going to be Zverev vs Krygios for the Acapulco Open. This is going to be a good match for sure.

That's right my friend, Federer just continues on & when it looks like he is slowing down he comes out and does something like this. Federer got one back on Tsitipas after his loss in the Australian Open. I think Tsitipas will learn a lot out of this match and will only improve with experience.

Zverev V Krygios is going to be an epic match which I can't wait to see. It has been an interesting tournament for Krygios so far with a lot of controversy with the fans and the underarm serves so if he is able to win I just wonder what the reception would be from the crowd. Lets hope that it is a good match and may the best Man win.
