Amazing comeback from Halep being 1-4 and break points down in the final set vs Svitolina. She managed to make a comeback and win 5 games in a row to take the match 6-4. Halep's mental toughness seems to have improved a lot as she's been playing a lot more attacking tennis when she's under pressure. Trusting her shots a lot more than before. Usually, she'd go into her defensive more like we've seen in the previous French Open and other finals. She has developed her game to the next level and is looking to take her world no.1 spot back. Next match is Kerber vs Mertens..which will be interesting as well. All the technically defensive styled players have made it through in Doha. Impressive feat on a pretty fast hard court.

Mertens takes the match on the other bracket overpowering Kerber, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1. If I'm not mistaken, Mertens is unseeded so this is a big upset, specially taking out the number 1 seed in Kerber. She also won the last 5 game points so its going to be interesting finals match. Will Mertens continue her giant killing or will Halep get back the number 1 spot from Kerber? I'm not familiar with Mertens though, so I don't know how the final game with be played stylistically.

Theory behind Rafael Nadal’s Australian Open demolition by Novak Djokovic revealed

It's all coming down to this theory that Nadal was not fully fit to beat Novak in the final. Why are not they are accepting that Novak was playing outstanding and deserved the win?

However Nadal was honest to admit his opponent, “It was unbelievable the way that he played - no doubt about that."

I think we know that Nadal wasn't really 100% fit during the Australian open, but he had some amazing run himself. And we didn't think that he will be able to reach the finals, at least in my opinion because of his injury. I guess there's no explanation here, he really met Djokovic at his peak and really looks unbeatable at that stage. Its a day wherein Djokovic can't do anything wrong and very positive that he will steamrolled Nadal that day.  Grin

The tennis world is very quite. However here are some news I was reading online:
ATP New York: Isner overpowers Tomic. Lorenzi, Albot and Thompson prevail

Lleyton Hewitt drops cheeky troll on Bernard Tomic at New York Open

This is sad for Australian tennis as this has started to effect their moods on and off the pitch, I feel both should sit down and patch up. I read few articles but I felt that their issues have been blown out of proportion, and the media has done it’s part in keeping them apart. I’m hoping we get some more insight into their issues, and whether it’s possible to see them bury it and start focusing on the game.

Halep vs Svitolina today and Svitolina leads H2H, 4-2 and has won last 3 meetings against Halep. Halep's previous defeat to Svitolina coming on Clay Court in Rome on May 2018. 2x on Svitolina seems to be a decent bet as they both have similar styles of play but Halep makes a lot more unforced errors. Svitolina can also attack better than Halep on hard courts while the conditions will be warm and ball will fly through the air faster. In the other Semi-finals, Its Kerber vs Mertens. Kerber didnt look great in the last match as she was down a set and a break but she managed to pull it back against Strycova and won in the tie breaker in the 3rd set. H2H its 1-0 to Kerber but it was a close match as both sets went into the tie breaker. Will be an interesting watch but I think whoever wins between Halep and Svitolina will win the cup.

Doha Qatar Open updates for those who haven't been following the news:

Simona Halep beats Julia Goerges 7-6(1) 7-6(6) and sets up a semi finals showdown with Svitolina who beats Karolina Muchova 6-4 6-2. On the other side of the semi-finals draw it will be Kerber vs Mertens. Wozniacki pulled out of this tournaments because she's reportedly suffering from "viral illness".

I don't know, this so called war between Hewitt and Tomic is really putting a lot of strain on the relationship and performance of the Australian Tennis. This has been going on for quite sometime now that Australian Tennis is a mess right now, and it looks like there are factions inside, that really hurt the players individually and as a team representing their country. Haven't seen @vella85, but I'm sure he can shed some light on the issue, since he lives down under.  Grin

I really don't know what's the reason why the split with Sascha Bajin. She is doing good winning back-to-back Grand Slam titles under him, as the saying goes "don't fix it if it ain't broken". So this is quite a big surprise, to say the least.

This is really strange, but it looks like that everything is not good between Osaka and Bajin.

https://www.news.com.au/sport/tennis/did-naomi-osaka-suggest-not-everything-was-rosy-with-her-coach-before-their-shock-split/news-story/4fe45ffef7080c164dc311aa447f282d

There are a lot of great coaches out there, I'm wondering why not get someone who really knows the game like past champions?
If I understood it correctly, based on the article, it seems that Sascha Bajin is not really a full time coach but somewhat just a training partner? Yes? then she has every right to look for new coach so that she can still improve and win more grand slams.

Yeah that is the one thing that Bouchard is lacking and that is dedication to play tennis and win again. She just needs to concentrate on tennis and then she'll be back to her best and maybe even start challenging for the Grand Slams. We all can see she has the talent and become a great player but its up to her if she wants it or not.
Guys let's move on from Bouchard  hehe
I see she was beautiful.

Is there any tennis match today which I can enjoy and use some extra money to bet?

Cheers :-)
There is the ATP New York open and ATP Buenos Aires in Argentina.
Some recoginzable names in both these tournaments. Like Fognini and Theim in the argentina one and Sam Querrey in the New York one.

Bouchard is still beautiful!

Well I guess we are all waiting for the big tournaments to start and that is why most of us are talking about other related things to do with tennis. Right now most of the tournaments going on are indoor tournaments with no top players playing. The only tournament which I see that is well worth watching is the WTA tournament in Qatar where there is a number of top Women players playing. Halep and Kerber won their matches and are through to the quarter finals so if you are looking to bet then maybe check this tournament out.

People still wait to see her game , not used to . She is great , mistakes happen the general crowd should be more apologetic in few matters if you ask me . Bouchard had similar entrance like Sharapova to tennis field but she spoiled that herself.
Oh yh I will also would like to see her in the court hehe
Who is this Bouchard by the way?
Best emerging women player in 2014 Royse and then she concentrated on modelling more .

Yeah it was a shame that she went down the modelling road instead of concentrating on her tennis as she was a great player and was even up there with the best a few years ago. I really think that if Bouchard concentrated on her tennis that she would of won a GS by now. But it hasn't just been her modelling that set her back, she also had a injury which really set her back as she lost a year playing because of the injury. I still think she can get back to her best if she just concentrates on her tennis as she is still young and has the talent to be a great player.
That's exactly my thought . She is young and has got what it takes except dedication . Look at players like Osaka or take example of Karlovic , he came back fighting a major disease and won many tourneys . You can't step in two boats at a time .

Thanks for that. I have no prior knowledge about her. Seems like struggling with form and injury led her to leave tennis?

Cheers ;-)
