Its a shame that so many top players will be missing in this years US Open and like you I think this gives Roger Federer a big opportunity to win his 3rd Grand Slam of the year but he does have a tough draw to get through first and if he does then he deserves to be US Open champion. Also Nadal has a big chance even though he isn't the best on hard courts but he is in top form which is good enough to win this tournament. Or will we see an up and coming superstar win? I'm looking forward to this US Open.

Yep, no Raonic either and Nishikori out rest of the year. Things are lining up quite nicely for Federer as it did at Wimbledon. Nadal will probably be his biggest obstacle. What a year it will be if he can win 3 majors after turning 35

There are a lot of big names reportedly missing from the US Open this time around, with Andy Murray withdrawing due to the injury he sustained during his semi final loss at the hands of Stan Wawrinka who has also withdrawn together with Novak Djokovich. Its gonna be a tough road for Roger then. But I guess he has all a winning records against the 3 of them but either one of them can upset him down the road. He needs another level up of play to really reach at least semi-final here and it will be really good if he can raise the trophy once again. He needs to be healthy, focus and mentally strong to be able to overcome everyone and win and put him closer to Nadal for the no. 1 spot.

So is Roger Federer going to be in the Open next week or not?
If he doesn't make it, then who will win this thing since Djokovic and Murray have bowed out of this thing already?
Haven't seen Wawrinka in any of this years Opens as well. I Think the last time saw him was in the Aus. one but he got beaten in the second round.

ATP qualifications US open L.Mayer vs Marterer that L.Mayer will win

Nadal , he may not be in good form in hard court but he certainly is in good shape , you can't rule him out from big tourneys . I am rooting for him as this is a great chance for him to increase his Grand Slam count . Also don't forget about Thiem .

This is great to see one of the greatest players get back the number 1 spot after a long time not being up there. Its great to also see Federer right up there as well, two of the greatest players ever and they are still performing well at the top level. Congrats to Zverev on his best ranking of his career so far. I can't wait for the US Open to start!

Yeah good to see young player like Zverev being in the top 10 ranking at his age of 18 years old he belongs to the top caliber player is quite amazing, hopefully he can get grand slam trophy sooner in other hand Rafa Nadal is performing well this year what really excited to see is when Rafa & Roger will fight for Championship in US open this is a fight of the verteran and great name of tennis.

Finally the day comes, i am waiting for this day to see Nadal in 1st place. He really deserves this place. This year his performance is outstanding. Murray time is over he will come down still 1 rank. After this US open he may go down to 3rd position. Yes i am also waiting for this epic match b/w Nadal vs Federer in US Open finals.

For me the podium of the ranking atp at the end of the season will be: 1)Federer 2)Nadal 3)A.Zverev.

I don't think so , according to me Nadal will finish at top and Zverev won't be in top 5 . I am pretty sure Djokovic won't go out of top ten if he comes back in January just like Federer did in 2017 . Not sure about Murray lol

-Federer and Nadal fight for first place but if Federer wins Us Open will surpass Nadal
- A. Zverev is already virtually third
-Murray is in a bad shape and will hardly make more than 2,000 points in this season's final and will hardly be in the top 4 places.
-Djokovic is almost virtually out of the top ten and his season is over

-Djokovic is really in bad shape I think he cannot recover to reach top 5 this year, may be because he has some injury which he endured, but I don’t believe he won’t able to bounce back next year,because he still in the prime of his carrier his talent is still superb, for him to go back on top seed next year .

It's very sad to see the top player Murray in 9th place and Djokovic in 8th place. This year they don't have any chance to come under top 5. but if they played well in coming tournament I think next year beginning they can reach. My eyes on only Nadal and Federer these two players fantastic I hope any of these two players will win this time the US open.

Both Murray and Djokovic is very unlucky this year. Injuries, Personal issues and other factors that contribute something to them not to perform at par in 2017. While the old dogs Nadal and Federer kept their focus and stay healthy by taking some breaks between tournaments and concentrate on the more rewarding championship trophy.

But, I pretty sure that Murray and Djokovic has already thinking for next year, Specially Djokovic who has fallen from the top. He needs to re-think and maybe needs to chance some or improvement areas to be able to compete at high level again.

I agree with your prediction, these two guys will not just do nothing next year their early rest year is for sure part of their strategy to have a big steps for the next year tour, its really exciting to witness tennis event next year because of rivalries of great players to settle in the top rank.
