Well there we are now, Swiatek is out at the hands of Pegula. I rarely make any bets
whatsoever on the WTA, it is too unpredictable. We could say now that Sabalenka
is the probable title winner, but could quite easily lose that.

On the mens side Sinner has kept his win rate over Medvedev by winning again
in 4 sets. He plays Draper next which we expect him to win again.
WTA is always having interesting upsets as now Swiatek is out and things are pretty clear for the Sabalenka to win, but both Americans are also doing good job, and we can expect them into final as well with Sabalenka is also quality player but as WTA is always brought surprises things can go either way.

Sinner is impressive against arch rival Medvedev and won his match in just four sets with no potential player against him so now it's clear US Open is going to his way, and he is now having good chance of staying at the top after end of top three era in last year.

Draper is the good player but need more time for having any potential upset at the top level in any Grand Slam outside England.

On the womens side its looking like Swiatek could take this title, although Sabalenk is still in
the mix too. Muchova is playing really well and faced Haddad Maia next after beating Paolini.
Tennis is never been easy to predict specially while you are talking about WTA even there is no doubt about Swiatek will be winner because she is playing impressive and having good time on court with Sabalenka is also doing good for having win in this last Grand Slam event of the year most chances we will be having Swiatek vs Sabalenka into final.

Medvedev has been impressive against Borges... ok there is a difference between the "value" of the two players but the Russian was play very strong and aggresive... Now he has to face Sinner. During the last 5 matches on this surface he has always lost!
Medvedev is great player but usually against big players he played nervous and lost his confidence which bring some problems for him after the exit of Djokovic and Alcaraz I was expecting him into final against Sinner but these both are facing each other into quarterfinal with on papers most chances from this match winner we will be having winner of this year's final as well because these are best in current situation no other can give them challenge in last round matches while things are interesting for winning a big event.

So three Americans made it through during yesterday's matches in the US Open:
Emma Navarro sent Paula Badosa home early with a 6-2, 7-5 embarrassment where Badosa was leading 1-5 then a complete collapse in the second set.
Taylor Fritz put away Alexander Zverev in a rather quick fourth set match.
Frances Tiafoe beat Grigor Dimitrov after he retired from their match later in the fourth set.

The rest of the quarter-finals should be great to watch but bad to bet on with Sinner taking on Medvedev and Draper going up against Alex de Minaur.

Did we see again such result? I don't know, but for sure this is not the easiest match for both players.

Sinner is looking very good so far and will face Medvedev next after beating Paul in 3 sets
with 2 tie breaks. I think Medvedev in the quarter final will be a tought task than Paul was.
Medvedev's favourite surface is hard court and has won this tournament already beating
Djokovic. Sinner is still favourite though at 1.36.

Sinner vs Paul
World number one Jannik Sinner has been flawless so far at the 2024 US Open. After losing his first set of the tournament, the Italian star has turned his matches into a formality and will now face host country powerhouse Tommy Paul. Having beaten Paul twice in their three previous matches, Sinner is close to the result here. Given his sharpness on both serve and return, he has a chance to win without dropping a set again.

Things are getting day by day interesting as we are heading for the last rounds of the US open many big names are losing their games and having early exit now in men we are having Sinner, Zverev and Medvedev these can do good for having spot into final with most chances we will be having Sinner at the top with his impressive quality.

In women's we are having early exit for the Gauff as things are going not favourable for her and she is losing at the important stage in big events now we are having Swiatek, Paolini and Navarro for the top spots with most chances Swiatek is going to be champion because she is doing impressive job in early rounds and looking solid for the win another big event which could be challenge for the second favourite Sabalenka.

That was a great run by Dan Evans to get to the third round. de Minaur will be happy
to move to the round of 16. All eyes are on making the final especially now that Djokovic
and Alcaraz have already been beaten. Medvedev especially and Zverev who is just
playing Nakashima will fancy his chances.

On the womens side its Swiatek looking strong.as is Badosa and surprisingly
Haddad Maia and my hopeful Paolini.

Daniel Evans had a really rough match yesterday with Alex Alex de Minaur having issues with his fitness in question at the end of the second set.
He had to have a medical timeout while right in the middle of game:

After treatment he was certainly questionable to continue as he had both sets bageled:

With that win he is the first Australian in 20 years to make it to 4th round of the U.S Open with shots like this one you can see why he made it on to the quarter-finals:

Hijikata vs Dimitrov
Rinky Hijikata, one of the rising stars of 2024, has been putting in some decent performances in preparation for the US Open. Now at the highest ranking of his career, Hijikata has a tough match in the second round. Grigor Dimitrov, who was impressive in his first match here, will take to the court with the confidence of having dominated Hijikata in both of their previous meetings. The former world number 3 is likely to put up another comfortable match.

Well it did end in an easy win for Dimitrov, we have mentioned here a while back that Dimitrov
is having a fantastic time now for at least this season, he moves to Round 3.

Ruud vs Monfils
Former finalist Casper Ruud performed well in his opening match at the 2024 US Open. 37yo Gael Monfils beat Diego Schwartzman in four sets to advance. Ruud is undoubtedly my favorite in what promises to be one of the most enjoyable matches of the second round, but we have to remember that Monfils recently beat Carlos Alcaraz. So Molfis still has the power to get big wins. I expect a competitive match.

Monfils also won the recent UTS New York tournament, albeit with different rules, But Ruud came out
on top over 5 sets. Not sure how far Ruud can go on the hard courts, its not his strongest surface.

Sinner goes today and has dropped a set already against McDonald in the first round. I wonder how
his mental state is with the "Drug" scenario going on in the background? He is massive favourite at 1.02
while Michelsen is 14.1, I wonder if an over bet 29.5 is on the cards here @ 1.62 ?

On the womens side I am watching both Osaka and Paolini. This is Osaka's favourite surface, its the big
stage and has probably been targeting this all year. She isnt getting easy draws recently and plays
Muchova tomorrow in the second round. Paolini plays Pliskova today which she should win.

Anyone follow the UTS series in New York?

This was .y first time actually seeing this event and I have to say I really like it, so
much so that I completely forgot to check it there was odds available!

The rules are very different and I found it hard to predict who would win each
match. Gael Monfils came out the champion beating Biblik!

it seems that Sinner is not completely out from doping claim... or at least until september 6th he could have a notification regarding further investigations by WADA....
Today he has officially fired his athletic trainer and his ("famous") physiotherapist.
in addition to losing a team selected with dedication, he has lost about 1 million dollars in prize money (Indian Wells).
so many difficulties for the number 1, who knows if they will have an impact on his performances.

I think some other players have an issue with the fact that this was kept quiet for
a number of weeks. Is the head of WADA Italian?

I was reading some news about Sinner who took a drug that will penalize him and the last tournament he won he won't be awarded points so I don't know now what the federation will do with him but in my opinion it was a mistake and it wasn't a desired thing so it's not right

AFAIK Sinner didnt take any illegal substances. His Physiotherapist used
medication on his own hand before treating Sinner and a very minute amount
showed up in Sinners test.

US Open kicks off with round 1 on Monday, qualifiers have finished so the matches
have been set. As it stands on both the mens and womens I cannot see any upsets
on the cards for the top seeds.

On the mens side Dominic Thiem got a wild card and ends up playing Shelton, thats
bad luck!

On the Womens side Osaka has bad luck too in having to play 10th seed Ostapenko.
Osaka is slight favourite at 1.65 v 211 for Ostapenko.

Funny, I just read that 10 mins ago!

I was fully acquitted though, seemingly one of Sinners physiotherapists was
the substance which is sold over the counter in Italy for a cut he had on his hand
or something like that.

Sinner is clear to play but will lose his points and prize money from his semi final
in Monte Carlo - this is when all this happened!

Sinner has just been found positive in a doping test!
It seems the Italian guy from San Candido has taken "Clobestol" - anabolic-androgenic steroid.

https://www.repubblica.it/sport/tennis/2024/08/20/news/sinner_positivo_antidoping_ma_innocente_giochera_us_open-423454599/?ref=RHUO-UO

However it seems that has been a very low amount and much probably not directly linked to a doping case.

Closing stages of Cincinnati and we had a battle royale in the semi final between
Sinner and Zverev, 3 sets with 2 tie breaks and the middle set 5-7. If you had an over
bet on you were a winner!

The other semi final was an unlikely pairing of Tiafoe v Rune, neither player has
been lighting up the courts this year but Tiafoe with his new coach are on a mission.

Sinner v Tiafoe - 3 sets could be on the cards here

In the womens side its Sabalenka v Pegula. Sabalenka put out Swiatek
and Pegula put out Badosa. This has to be going to a 3 setter?
