WTF did I just see? Djokovic has demolished Alcaraz in the opening set 6:1! One way traffic baby! Alcaraz is leading now 1:0 in the second but frankly things are not going great for him.

It's never easy to step out onto center court at Wimbledon and play a final. Tradition and experience are on Djokovic's side, it seems to me that so far Djokovic has lost only 1 final and won 7, which is a great result.
Djokovic obviously likes to play at Wimbledon and along with the GS tournament in Australia, he had the most success in this tournament.
Due to his style of play, it is clear that Alcaraz will always be the best on slower surfaces like Roland Garros and that is why I am delighted that he is so good on the fast Wimbledon surface as well.
However, I think Djokovic has a better chance of winning today.

The first set is going on right now. Novak Djokovic is ahead so far in this match. But this is only the first set, which has not even been completed. The whole match is yet to be played by both of them. So I believe anything can still happen in this match. But so far things are going as we expected it will. Novak Djokovic is playing well. But I still think that it is going to be really close. Alcaraz Garcia is also trying to play well. But as I was writing this post, Novak Djokovic had taken the first set. Right now, the second set is going on.

Alcaraz or Djokovic for the final? really have not got a clue, both players have been
fairly clinical this year at Wimbledon, maybe I'm edging towards the young gun
if he can replicate his fine drop shots again to mix up his game??
Of course, his drop shots will be very troublesome for Djokovic. If he can do that then he will get many points on that, but what he faces is players with a lot of experience, sometimes Djokovic can read his opponent's strategy very well, but it's true that this is a difficult prediction and if Alcaraz can beat Djokovic in the center court, it will break the record his opponent who hasn't been beaten in quite a while at this stadium, which will also be quite interesting how the crowds will fully support the young Spaniard compared to Djokovic. It will be very close and Djokovic will win again in my opinion.

Alkaraz and Djokovic have done a good job on the way to the Wimbledon finals. Both tennis players are in great shape and surely there will be a long fight between them. Alkaraz is a very strong rival and it should not be underestimated. However, in the finals of the Grand Slam tournaments the key role played by the experience, which in this confrontation will be on Djokovic’s side.
I think Djokovic will win the final with his experience, fighting spirit and mastery in five sets.

To be honest, I was quite disappointed with yesterday's semifinals, either because Djokovic and Alcaraz were really ready to face their opponents or because their opponents couldn't play with their highest performance, last year Jannick Sinner was able to take two sets from Djokovic but this time not even for a set though, and Medvedev, who looked like he couldn't get out of the pressure of the third set, was a bit hopeful but still couldn't find his best form.
The final between Djokovic vs Alcaraz was as predicted, Djokovic remains the favorite considering he is quite superior in this tournament and rarely sees odds on Djokovic above 1.30 this time he gets 1.54 with Alcaraz 2.55, if many think Djokovic often loses the initial set and after that playing at the highest level of his game but I'm pretty sure he's not going to do that this time and from Djokovics match with all the young players it's surprising the age difference is over 13 years but his fitness doesn't show he's older.
I still think it will be 4 sets; Djokovic will loose the first set and than go on and win the next 3 sets. I am surprised that the odd for Djokovic is around 1.5; this is the first time that Alcaraz gets so far as grass is not his favorite underground so Djokovic is the clear favorite here to win Wimbledon again.
The young versus the experienced gonna play the finals. Djokovic being the favourite for the Wimbledon finals is an expected one. Losing the first set and winning the match is kind of style that Djokovic follows. At times this can fire back, because against a player like Alcaraz is different from playing against unseeded players. Even a small mistake could make Alcaraz make the lead. Lets see what's gonna happen as the top seeded ones compete for the title.
This is the first time in history something unexpected have taken place and that is really appreciable. In Women's tournament an unseeded player have reached the finals and won the title, Vondrousova have won against Jabeur 6-4 6-4
The final between Alcaraz and Djokovic is going to be a really good one. This is also going to be fairly close and competitive between both of them. I know that it is a match between young and experienced.
All the young one, Alcaraz, does have youth on his side which will probably give him more speed and stamina I think Djokovic being the experienced one will be able to come back even if he is behind at the start of the match. I agree that the style of Novak Djokovic is losing the first set and then making a comeback. Probably he is more concerned about reserving his energy.
Age won't seem to matter between these two as it was on display during their two previous meetings.
There is a 16 year difference but when it comes to tennis, it won't matter since experience is the determining factor as the player can recuperate after every set and come out stronger after gathering their senses to power through to the next set.
Remember Carlos cramped up during the Miami tournament and lost to Sinner of course that was on hard court then he had to withdraw from the French Open earlier this season from the very same symptoms.

For myself, I will go with the tested and true game play of Novak Djokovic to win this Wimbledon in a set of five since Alcaraz will probably suffer the same fate as he did before if it does go the distance.
And many are imagining this matchup of the world's #1 and #2 will end up being. As this tournament's final will determine who will be #1 of the world.

Surprisingly, Ons Jabeur lost two in a row in the finals, especially how she could overcome the defending champion Rybakina and also Sabalenka, but Vondrousova is not just any player, injuries made her stop for 6 months due to wrist surgery, and at the age of 19 she made it to the French final. Open but lost to Ashleigh Barty in two sets, this proves she is a pretty good player and a strong competitor for Swiatek, Sabalenka and several players who shine quite a bit in 2023

It would have been a big bang in the tennis world if Eubanks really eliminated Medvedev in that game. All sports live upon such surprises as people want to see the small guy beat the big guy. This would have been the perfect plot in this match-up and damn it was so close. I believe what is so special about Christopher Eubanks is his age. There have been youngsters in the past who played amazing tennis and spread enthusiasm among the fans. Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Alcaraz and others, but here it was a 27-year old guy who out of a sudden played world class tennis. As if he woke up one morning and suddenly became a different player overnight.
Eubanks will become a tennis player with a million pride if he manages to beat Medvedev in that match and he can definitely make his own history as a tennis player.
It's true, surprises exist at every sporting event and Eubanks has been one of them.
Even though the match ended in disappointment, many tennis fans applauded Eubanks for his hard work so far.
Maybe in the future he can create even more spectacular surprises with his quite impressive tennis game.

WTA final live now. Jabeur lost the first set to Vondrousova by making loads of unforced errors. In a couple of last games of the first set she could return a single serve. She lost the opening set 4:6. Right now, second set is under way and it's 4:3 Jabeur. Her quality of play has improved considerably and I'm hoping to see the third set.
Vondrousova won the match easily in straight sets and only had problems in the first set. Realtivly easily won the final and too bad about Ons Jabour that dominated through out the entire tournament and just didnt have focus in the final. If she played like before the final i think we would have seen a different outcome. Now Vondrousova is in the top 10 and jumped from a 42th place on the wta tour.
Wasn't Vondrousova the first lowest ranked (42) womens player to win at Wimbledon?
Think I heard one of the announcer's saying this before the match started.
I managed to watch the first set and then got a bit busy and ended up watching the final game where she won it.
They showed there were only two other unseeded players to win the major but those were both in the ATP.
Really good showing from Vondrousova because she was 80 to 1 to win Wimbledon for the women's side.
Think Ons Jabeur was closer to 9 to 1. Because she has been in this finals just last year but of course lost that one aswell.

Unfortunately, the third set did not happen and Marketa Vondrousova is the new Wimbledon winner.
Jabeur failed to win Wimbledon again and I feel sorry for her. I hope she manages to win this tournament soon because she really deserves it.
Vondrousova won 6:4 and 6:4 and somewhat surprisingly won Wimbledon. I don't know if anyone seriously thought about her as a possible winner before the start of the tournament?
Now we have to wait for the men's final tomorrow and see if Djokovic will rewrite tennis history again.
Alcaraz will be his biggest challenge yet.

no final for Sinner. not being able to reach the final is not a  surprise.... the bookmakers quoted his victory today between @4.5 / @4.80 ... after so many defeats due to injuries at least he seems to have found a decent physical form .. and he is certainly a player who will play at a very high level in the next few years

Well i won my bet on under games and it was pretty close due to Sinner missing those set points. But still Sinner got lucky to come to this stage of the tournament. The best player that he played during the tournament before Djokovic was Halys that is ranked 79th. I think that also had an effect on Sinner because he played only easy matches.

Well done Joca97 in calling the under bet, it was all done in 32 games! and like bitbollo
I am still waiting for bigger things from one of my favourite players.

I too am dissapointed with both finals Strongkored, I actually thought they would have
been closer.

What this means for grass court season at least is that a grand slam winner
in Medvedev needs to find another level or two to get up to where our finalists are - performance
wise and Sinner probably needs another 2 levels?

Alcaraz or Djokovic for the final? really have not got a clue, both players have been
fairly clinical this year at Wimbledon, maybe I'm edging towards the young gun

to quote myself, Eubanks had good match, and provided some gains
but, I did not cash-out when possible after third set on a win, and should do that, but at that moment expected to see Eubanks winning this one, and he could do that in fourth set, fifth was just a formality

will be interesting to see Alcaraz against Medvedev, but I think that Medvedev is without chances to take even set there, should be straight sets for Alcaraz, will check odds and probably have it like that

Good performance from Alcaraz. Both waited for mistakes from the opponent and Alcaraz was more consistent overall in terms of performance than Rune

Eubanks as expected from me, did not disappoint me. The fact that he managed to play 5 sets in the quarter-finals shows that we have to expect more from him in the future. It seems he have lost concentration in set 5.
At Thursday the mens have a day off and at Friday the semi-finals will be played.

It was refreshing to see how the guy called Eubanks played against Medvedev. I have never heard of him before and it seems that he was about to give up professional tennis. The telegraph and some other news outlets have written that he was on his way to a different career path as a commentator. I love life stories like that. A player decides to end the career and then to his own surprise almost beats Medvedev in a Wimbledon quarter-final.

Alcaraz was strong and he is looking good and confident. I don't own a crystal ball but I think that both Djokovic and Alcaraz are too stable and focused to fail in the semi-finals.

I have followed Eubanks for a long time now and he is a good player that serves well and has a good forehand but his behand is bad and that causes problems for him. But he has improved so much lately and this is one of the biggest achievements of his life. But cant wait to watch the semifinals,it will be awesome.

I am not sure we have both seen the same articles about him but as far as I know this is THE biggest achievement of his life that nobody ever expected. Eubanks played like an experienced end level Wimbledon competitor. But Medvedev know how to counter it in the end.

I think Carlos Alcaraz has no chance. Novak Djokovic will win another championship and show that he is the GOAT again. Djokovic, who broke another record by reaching the grand slam final for the 35th time, wants to reach the maximum number of championships before he retires. I see Djokovic, who has statistics that will not be approached for many years, as the heavy favorite in this match. No need to even consider any other option.
Alcaraz did a great job beating Medvedev, but playing with Djokovic is something else entirely. These names may become champions after Djokovic retires, but for now, the legacy of the big three continues.
