Novak Djokovic is ranked second in singles by the ATP. After his defeats at Wimbledon, Novak Djokovic becomes the man with the most grand slam final losses; nonetheless, Carlos Alcarez may still consider him to be the finest opponent he has faced in the sport, it was difficult to watch. Djokovic is getting older, and I don't see him producing at his best any more; all he needs is time to rethink his strategy and move on with his career; this is not the end. He has further greater heights to go, but the truth is that this period belongs to the rising stars, and Carlos Alcarez is a probable star right now.
@borovichok Djokovic will definitely win one or two more time’s before he fades away and it’s quiet natural for that to happen in this sport but if anyone feels that he’s already over then they’re clearly mistaken. Furthermore he’ll recover from this loss and he’ll come out even stronger as he always does hence I yet believe in him and wish that he continues to amaze us with his performances.
absolutely! he isnt done and dusted just because he lost at Wimbledon. Djokovic is just
as effective on Clay and Hard courts and is still in unbelievable condition.

Also not to forget he only lost the GS at Wimbledon by one break of serve in the 5th set.
It would be something if he lost in 3 sets with big margins, that would be concerning.

No he isnt done yet.

He is not done, of course. I completely concur. It is not like he lost the final against Alcatraz by a big margin. He brought the match to the final set. The match went really well for him. It's just that he couldn't secure the win because he was up against the world's top player.

In my opinion, despite his age, I have faith that he still has the capability to win additional trophies. As long as he remains in top condition, Alcaraz will pose as his primary adversary. Undoubtedly, there will come a day when he manages to triumph over Alcaraz in the finals.

Djokovic is now at the brink of age that if he were to win this very US open it would have been his last but he was unfortunate to be stripped up by Alcaraz at this time. He doesn't stand the chance of winning it anymore as the chances are that his age would grant him the needed energy to stand out as before. The disappointment he expressed as a result of the loss by hitting the rack post of the net which has led to a fine of  6'117 pounds  on him is enough to show how unsure he felt about the future for him with age by his side.

Lol this is greatly exagerated. I didn’t expect that Djokovic would lose the final against Wimbledom but it doesn’t mean his career is over. While I am no fan of Djokovic, I think he still got chances to win 2 or 3 more grand slams. Alcaraz is the new kid on the block but it doesn’t mean that Djokovic stands no chance anymore.
A shocking defeat that was almost the same as when he lost in the US Open final to Medvedev, it was the last Grand Slam tournament of the year and if he succeeded, he would become the second player after Steffi Graff to win 4 Grand Slams in one season, even in the final he is the top seed so there is no doubt that he could lose a Grand Slam final by any player but so far other than the big four and Wawrinka only two players have been able to beat him in a Grand Slam final, I agree his loss at Wimbledon is not the end In his career he still has the possibility of winning another Grand Slam, the Australian Open has always been his favorite venue beside Wimbledon and he has never lost in the final of that tournament.

US Open Alcaraz is the defending champion but apart from Nadal and Djokovic the currently active players hardly anyone has won consecutive Grand Slams, Wawrinka, Thiem and Medvedev have failed to do so, Alcaraz will try to do so but injuries can haunt him because every year it is always there was a time when he was hit by injuries and could not compete

Djokovic has had multiple accolades with a fair share of wins on clay but for center court at Wimbledon 2023 he will have to accept his loss to Alcaraz who is now tennis player number one.
The final match was quite dramatic where the two of them were fighting each other for points until in the end Alcaraz had the superior points and came out victorious.
But there was a bit of an astonishing incident where Djokovic damaged his racket and reportedly he was fined for this incident.

You're right because it would be very unfair to write off a man who's won about six grandslam titles with several of those at Wimbledon just because he's lost some final games, going into multiple finals should let people know how great of a player he is , because my expectations are that he would decline gradually as he's aging but he keeps taking everyone by suprise by defeating tough opponets to always go beyond the quarter and semi finals into the final stage of the game, even though he's lost the recent final I still consider him the best.

Well era's they say come to an end because one man would never be at the top forever, and maybe the era of Carloz Alcaraz who is currently ranked no 1 in mens single by the ATP having won 12 tour ATP level single and aslo 2 major titles at 2022 US open and Wimbledon championship this year, with several other troophies as well, but let's see if he'll be able to defend his title next year because there are others like Medvedev  and ruud including Djokovic that would give him a tough challenge next year. Anyways congratulations to Alcaraz on his victory in winning the 2023 Wimbledon championship title.

Regardless of who won the match, this match between Alcatraz and Djokovic was absolutely incredible. A test of temperament for both of the players.
agree, but what I saw today from highlights, didn't noticed yesterday during the match
Alcaraz had 66 winners, compared to 32 from Djokovic, and looking at that, one can conclude that match was pretty much one-sided, Alcaraz was on attack, and Djokovic just defended and waited for him to make a mistake
even in first set, which he lost 1:6, Alcaraz had more winners (7 to 5), so on that time, it was just him trying to put his shot in, not playing bad, as it was seemed during the match, highlights after are good to reflect on whole thing

I thought that Novak Djokovic is going to be on the defensive and Alcaraz is going to be under offence. Because if Novak Djokovic played aggressively from the start, he wouldn’t have had any stamina left by the end of the match. So I believe he did the right thing. Sad that it did not work out for him.

and interesting enough, Djokovic is still favorite to win US Open, according to bookies, @2.2, Alcaraz on @2.5

Probably bookmaker are giving Djokovic a bigger chance to win the US Open because, after the loss at Wimbledon, he will be determined to prove himself. I wonder if that is going to work out properly. Because he is getting older day by day. And as time progresses, it will be harder for him to beat his opponents who are almost half age compared to him.

This is pretty surprising since Alcaraz is world's number 1 and fresh off winning the last tournament beating Djokovic usually the odds are in favor of the champion of the most recent win and the higher ranked player.
Just goes to show you how confident the bookmakers are of him to make an immediate comeback I would think.
Because before Wimbledon started Alcaraz was 3.50x to win the entire tournament while Djokovic was closer to 2.00x
So as you can see the oddsmakers have always seen them as close favorites to win these major tournaments on the tennis season schedule being ranked number 1 and 2 respectfully.

Just looking at the ATP Gstaad in Switzerland I can see both Wawrinka and Thiem are
playing there, I think those two have a very good chance to go far in this, I cannot see any
of the "top 10" players in attendance.
Bautista Agut is seeded 1
Kecmanović is seeded 2 and
Sonego is seeded 3.

Wawrinka plays Carballés Baena today who is seeded 6
Thiem plays Medjedovic tomorrow

Next up on the ATP schedule: Gstaad, Bastad and, of course, Hamburg 500 tournament! The lineup includes stars like Rudd, Zverev, Musetti, Cerundolo, Struff, Gasquet etc... It would be interesting to witness Sascha Zverev play at his home tournament. I wonder if he would be able to win the title on home courts.

Beyond all the performance I was surprised by the stamina of both the players. The match lasted 4 hours and 43 minutes. From the very first serve to the final serving there is no difference in their performance and energy level. How both have competed against each other. Young Alcaraz had been using power shots from the beginning. Till the last everyone predicted the match to be a win for Djokovic, but things changed as performance went high with Alcaraz at the right time.

What I'm curious to see now is if there's anybody else that can even challenge them anymore. Medvedev should be able to do on hard, at least in theory.

On Wimbledon both Đoković and Alcaraz lost only 2 sets until the final, on RG they lost 1 set each before their semifinal duel and the winner (Đoković) won in straight sets against Ruud in the final.
On Australian Open Đoković lost only 1 set, Alcaraz did not play due to injury.

This just shows how dominant they are, and how even more dominant Alcaraz will be when Novak retires.

Interesting cryptofrka, who indeed joins Alcaraz at the top? will there be another
TOP 3. True maybe Medvedev can be more consistent on hard courts and string more
wins together but who else?

Rune, Ruud, Sinner, Berrettini?

I think with Djokovic' loss yesterday its definitely a changing of the Guard, there are
more and more competitors on clay, Alcaraz, Rune, and Ruud, on Hard Alcaraz and Medvedev
and now on Grass Alcaraz and Berrettini.

As Novak Djokovic won first set I was really shocked and then have feeling most chances he will win this match by big margin and straight sets but after two sets things were looking fascinating, but Alcaraz's fight in third set completely change the momentum and things were at level for the both players but in last and fifth set we have early breakthrough which helps Alcaraz to win this historic event and Novak Djokovic have his first defeat in years.
This was fairly one of the best match while we have two top class players in our front in tennis court, and they were giving their best for the win now with this win we have big change in tennis future because big three eras is almost ended now who is going to rule it's surely interesting.
We watched a really great match that will be talked about for years, a tennis classic.
In the past, Djokovic won a lot of such uncertain matches, but this time he failed to win.
Djokovic had at least two great chances to turn this match in his favor, at the end of the second set when he had a set point and at the beginning of the fifth set when he also missed a big chance to lead 2:0.
Alcaraz played fantastically and concentrated until the end and should be congratulated.
I wonder if we are witnessing history, the slow retirement of a great tennis champion and the arrival of a new tennis champion who could come close to Djokovic's records?

Regardless of who won the match, this match between Alcatraz and Djokovic was absolutely incredible. A test of temperament for both of the players.

First of all, I have to say, it is incredible to see Novak Djokovic from like this, even at this age, especially against a player who is much younger. Almost half of his age to be honest. Players who are actually older, are always going to get my support personally. Because at the age of 18, you can break your leg and still walk. People at 18 in general can actually get a sixpack by mistake. But at the age of 36, the body of a human can hurt a lot by even sleeping funny for a long time. And at the age of 36, Novak, Djokovic is still one of the best players in tennis, if not the best.

Novak Djokovic and Alcaraz's match has concluded with a surprising twist. My expectations of a fiercely contested and captivating battle were not misguided. This showdown had all the ingredients for an enthralling spectacle. Ultimately, Álvarez Garfield emerged victorious. Although both players put up a strong fight in the fifth set, ultimately, there could only be one triumphant player in this fiercely competitive contest. Novak Djokovic has a chance, I thought after the first set. But Alcaraz Garfia, number one in the whole world, showed why there is a reason.

this is probably what driver Novak at the moment
with current competition, Alcaraz can easy have full domination and put all 3 current GOAT players in second plan

expected to see Novak winning yesterday, but it was kind of worst defeat, on a way he usually wins matches, first fifth set lost on Wimbledon for Novak, of I remember well

and lost chance on all slams in one season
