Great match to watch. Alcaraz won the first two sets 6-0 and 6-2 against Chardy. The third set was a real fight as both kept taking consecutive points and Chardy missed break point when he was in lead 3-2 which then moved into the hands of Alcaraz. Finally the third set won by Alcaraz 7-5. The third set of the match have lasted for 59 minutes. Alcaraz winning the title would make him the third youngest player in the open Era to Win Gentleman's Singles Event.
Matches with the first three sets system often provide an opportunity for players who are behind to come back and put up a tougher fight so that the match can be longer, but Alcaraz did not let that happen by continuing to pressure his opponent so that the match could be finished in 3 sets.

Considering that this is just the twelfth time Alcaraz has played on grass he made a convincing performance. It was good that Chardy improved in set number 3 and the match was played at a higher level.

The thing that I do not like about Wimbledon tournament is the rain. Every year some matches cannot be played or have to be interrupted. Just like right now.
Alcaraz just cleaned the grass with Chardy in that match. Chardy should have given a lot more against Alcaraz,he got a wild card for this tournament and just got destroyed. Maybe the wild card should have been given to a player that is much younger. Two days of rain are causing problems. Even today we seen rain but looks like finally matches are gonna be played

Schwartzman will play against Sinner... 3 matches have been played and all 3 times Sinner has won! (Last this year in Barcellona - Clay surface).
Sinner is very confident in grass surface so probably it can be an easy match for him, specially if he will be in a good fit.

Yesterday disappointing loss for FAA Roll Eyes this year has been really disappointing for him Sad
Interesting win by Wawrinka, he was quoted as underdog (up to 3.50) but he was able to overcome the match against Ruusuvuori.

Everything ready for Alcaraz, it's very hard he will face trouble against Chardy Roll Eyes

Ah yes Sinner should win against Diego. We are still waiting for Sinner to have a
"brilliant" GS and get to a quarter final  and Diego is not having a brilliant season but
I would really like Janick to make a big mark at Wimbledon, he is big favourite
for today 1.05 v 10.0

Up until about 2 years ago Wawrinka was my favourite player. He plays against Etcheverry
which I think he should win also.

So my two bets today are Bublik to beat Wolf and Wawrinka to beat Etcheverry.

honestly, sinner has really disappointed me in so many "simple" games that I'm almost afraid to place a bet on him...
Injuries, loss of concentration, lack of form, in short, a strong player shouldn't have these problems if he intends to become "number 1" or at least obtain results beyond the norm.

Today it is interesting to follow Berrettini vs Sonego.
Berrettini (Wimbledon finalist) is going through a very bad period (he practically lost all the tournaments in the first round ....) Roll Eyes

I was hoping that this year Janick would do big things this year but it hasnt worked
out that way...so far.

Here is a question which can be asked of a lot of the younger players, is the high
prize money and expensive lifestyle a distraction for them?

On Berrettini, he just cannot get back to his former performance after the injury last year.

Andy Murray also won in three sets of matches by defeating his compatriot, so he advanced to the next round.
Today Medvedev will have his first fight and his opponent A. Fery, the odds of the bookmaker favoring him to win easily because it's 1.01 against 21.00, so it could be a 3 set match in my opinion.

I am never playing against Wawrinka, he is experienced enough to beat anyone on the tour, and odds are never favoring him
so, it is better to play on him, if you think that he can pull out, than against on low odds

Alcaraz should have as easy match as possible against Chardy
Hanfmann is yet to finish against Fritz, but I don't think he can win this after an overnight break, should cash out yesterday, but didn't

I have actually only one bet on for today and thats with Bublik - I really hope his recent
great form is not short lived and he can win today against McDonald, Its currently on serve
in the first set 3 - 3

Bublik is good, but he is down at the moment, and I usually avoid players that are mid range and recently had good tournament result, IMO, there is no players except for Djokovic and Alcaraz that can connect two finals in a row, on any surface, and grass is probably hardest to do that

my bet is on Hanfmann, currently up against Fritz, had him to win set, but also to win match on higher odds/smaller bet
Djokovic started good, easy win, although tie-break had to be played in third set
At some critical point the match between Fritz and Hanfmann have got suspended due to darkness. More matches have been suspended whereas it is the only match that is at the deciding set where Fritz leads 3-2. Tomorrow both playing the deciding set with full energy could turn the match in any direction. A great comeback from Fritz, if not the match could've been won by Hanfmann long back and the points were 4-6 6-2 6-4 5-7 2-3.

Well Bublik got the job done, he didnt disappear after losing the first set but powered
through to win the following 3 - good performance but I'm not sure how far he can go,
he plays Wolf next, I might back him again?

Fritz is having a battle royale against Hanfmann, the remainder of the final set has
yet to be played and it could go either way

another battle royale was Mmoh v Felix AA, 3 tie breaks in the first 3 sets and Mmoh was
able to break Felix in the 4th to win.

Sofia Kenin winning Coco Gauff came as a surprise in this American derby. I was pretty sure Coco was going to win but I didn't place a bet for some reason. Boy was I lucky! Kenin won this in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

That was epic, I watched almost the last 2 sets, Kenin was on fire, some of the shots
she made were fantastic but also Coco made a lot of unforced errors and had to
try and play up to Kenin's performance.

ATP was pretty predictable today, just want to point out Michael Mmoh defeating Felix Auger Alliasime, British wildcard Choinski winning Dusan Lajovic, Schwartzman finally advances to second round by winning Kecmanovic, Swiss vet Wawrinka breezing past Ruusuvuori in three. Also Radu Albot leading Shapovalov 7:5 after the first set is quite unexpected (match suspended).

So many picks to choose from today. What are you guys going with?

I just started to filter them - grass is always so much harder due to a low number of tournaments being played on it. Any help is appreciated Grin

Good odds on Nakashima vs Thompson, they are placed at 50:50 odds and I think Nakashima should be a favorite here.

Im watching the match between Mmoh and Felix AA and its one set each and in the third
set its on serve, Mmoh had massive odds this morning, this will kind of be a bit of a shocker
if he manages to beat Felix.... odds are currently 2 35 - 1.60

Wimbledon Title winner from USA is no surprise, because a big list of players are into the tournament. For now we can expect Isner, Fritz, Shelton, Tiafoe, Korda reach the next round. Anyhow everything is a prediction and we'll know the reality only when the match is being played. Apart it is the tournament for which majority where training for a long. So, the hard competence can move the matches in any direction.
The United States does have many players but unfortunately at this time, there is no one of the lists that appear consistent, maybe because the competition is very tight in the men's section currently, while the women's seems to be even worse after Serena retired and Venus is quite old and difficult to compete in the tournament big like Wimbledon, US does not have a player who is likely to be the winner of Wimbledon this year.
Sebastian Korda is sometimes impressive and in Wimbledon, the best achievement is the 4th round a few years ago, if not constrained by injury, maybe he can show better this year.

The first day of the main round of Wimbledon was rainy, which was quite annoying for the player that lead the match, Aslan Karatsev showed his dislike when Umpire had to stop the match when he only needed a few more points to end the match.
Djokovic excels in the first set and has to wait for the rain to stop before returning to play.

some games are being played at the moment I'm posting.

Andrey Rublev - Max Purcell

Andrey Rublev currently occupies position number 7 in the ATP ranking, two years ago he managed to reach a better position than this, he reached position number 5, well I believe that it is still in the memory of many people who saw him losing against Alexander Bublik and in this game Andrey Rublev will play against Max Purcell who currently occupies the number 62 position in the ATP ranking, he is 25 years old and he started his professional career in 2015 but he never won anything relevant so I see rublev leaving with victory in this game

Laurent Lokoli - Casper Ruud

Laurent Lokoli currently occupies position number 198 in the ATP ranking, months ago he was in position number 167 in the world, which means that he dropped a lot of position, something very bad for him, with 28 years he has not been very lucky, his performance in important competitions are not good and will have to play against Casper Ruud who currently occupies position number 4 in the ATP ranking, in my opinion and the result of this game is very obvious, I see Ruud leaving with a very easy victory.

another game today that I see the result is very predictable is Novak Djokovic's game against Novak Djokovic, Pedro Cachin is 28 years old and started his career in 2013 but never won anything relevant, I see Pedro Cachin leaving with defeat in this game

We have the main draws from Wimbledon starting today inwhich the tournament lasts from July 3-16th.
One of the big names to withdraw from it recently has been Nick Kyrgios:
https://www.atptour.com/en/news/nick-kyrgios-wimbledon-2023-withdrawal

Novak Djokovic has already won his 23rd career grand slam title and surpassed Nadal. He is one tournament behind tying Federer standing at eight for this one.
https://www.espn.com/tennis/story/_/id/37942308/expert-picks-win-2023-wimbledon-titles

I believe Novak Djokovic is going to win this one as well. Some people are not going to take part in this tournament. Don’t know if it would have made any difference for Novak Djokovic to be honest. And I absolutely agree with you that Novak Djokovic is the one to win this tournament. Getting ahead of Nadal and trying to get another one to have the same number of Grand Slam as Roger Federer and doing this also in his mid 30s is absolutely incredible.

and there are some tough draws for the first round for some players:

Bublik v McDonald
Kecmanović v Schwartzman
Hanfmann v Fritz
Sinner v Cerundolo
Thiem v Tsitsipas
Berrettini v Sonego

These are matches which could go either way for those match up's while the likes of
Medvedev, Rune and Alcaraz have easy draws, these should be sure bets if there are
preferable odds

Alcaraz v Chardy
Medvedev v Fery
Loffhagen v Rune
