Stefanos Tsitsipas, who currently occupies position number 5 in the ATP ranking, but 2 years ago managed to reach position number 3, this season he still has not managed to win any title this season, on the other side we have Yannick Hanfmann who currently occupies position number 48 of the ATP ranking, he beat Pedro Cachin very easily and I predict that Yannick Hanfmann will be a very strong opponent. Stefanos Tsitsipas, although I will also bet on Stefanos Tsitsipas I still see this odd being very low considering that Yannick Hanfmann is not a weak opponent
The performance from Tsitsipas on grass has been rather mixed so far. He has not won a tournament for more than half a year, although he is ranked place 5 in the ATP.
The performance from Hanfmann on grass has not been good so far. He has not made it further than round 2. But this year he is playing very well in general and on a good day he could be a strong opponent for Tsitsipas.

I agree with @ bct_ail that on a good day, Hanfmann can be a good strong opponent for Stefanos Tsitsipas. But there is a bigger chance for Stefanos Tsitsipas to win this match against Hanfmann. And I know that Stefanos Tsitsipas has not been great on grass. But I believe he will be good enough to beat Hanfmann.

It will actually be a little surprising for me if Tsitsipas loses this match. Even though both of them are not very good on grass, I think Stefanos Tsitsipas is a little less worse when compared to Hanfmann.

Anyone know if Bublik is playing this week? I couldnt see any tournaments with a quick search.

There is another one in Mallorca but only Tsitsi there worth mentioning. Top players aren't playing in week before Wimbledon unless they need matches like Tsitsi.

Oh right, its funny how they are all bar a few taking this week out together and not
competing.

Tsitsipas at Mallorca should go well although just looking at who is left playing:
Harris, Mannarino, Eubanks and Shelton. Tsitsipas plays Hanfmann today in
the R16. I dont think I will bet on Tsitsipas even though he is the highest ranked player???

Taylor Fritz - Mackenzie McDonald

Taylor Fritz, who currently occupies position number 9 in the ATP ranking, but reached a better position than that, a few months ago he reached position number 5, while on the other side we have Mackenzie McDonald who currently occupies position number 64 in the ranking of the ATP, last year he reached the position number 48 in the world, a very important fact is that he is 28 years old and still hasn't won anything big. I see Taylor Fritz winning this game

Stefanos Tsitsipas - Yannick Hanfmann

Anyone know if Bublik is playing this week? I couldnt see any tournaments with a quick search.

Actually he wanted to play at the tournament in Mallorca (Spain). But he decided not to play there anymore. Rinderknech was put in his place. Bublik has now put his focus to Wimbledon. I think he did not expect to get so far in Halle and needs now a bit more rest before Wimbledon will start next week.
He played well from the start of Halle Open. Particularly against Struff, Zverev and Rublev in the final match is really great perform. Getting closer to the title win his efforts were big. Now he needs some rest before Wimbledon. Everyone will be on their practice sessions to do the best. One of the biggest celebration of tennis gonna start in a week and lets enjoy the game from the big ones.

If I was in Tsitsipas's place, I wouldn't play such a weak tournament before the Grand Slam.

It can only give you a false sense of security - and not winning that kind of tournament (which I feel will happen) will put even more pressure on him during Wimbledon.

Also I only realised just now while searching the above, Alcaraz is back in #1 position on the
ATP rankings again after his win at Queens, just 80 points separate himself and Djokovic!

Over at Eastbourne in the UK its R32 today and there arent too many big names playing, Fritz and Paul
seeded 1 and 2, there must be another tournament on somewhere?

Congrats to Alex Bublik! He won his 2nd title (first one in Montpellier back in 2022) this week. And the competition was fierce in Halle: Struff, Zverev, Rublev... well-deserved win!  Cool

Bublik played the tournament in Halle really well and deserved to win in the end. Nevertheless, it was very surprising for me and I am curious to see how his performance will be in Wimbledon.
I am also curious about Carlos Alcaraz. After winning a tournament on grass for the first time he will certainly go into the Wimbledon tournament with a lot of self-confidence.
It was the hard work from Bublik, if not this win could've never happened. To win the title who all he played against is really big. Starting from the quarter finals he was playing against the leading players. He had been practicing well and was good at the serves in particular. This win had made him reach the 22nd position on the ranking. Back in 2021 Bublik reached the Halle final during the year 2021, and this year he was able to win the grass court title.

I have seen Alcaraz playing a few sets and I was of the impression that he seriously wanted to test his limits in order to develop an idea of what's possible in Wimbledon and he did well. He gained confidence with this tournament win and still he knows that he hasn't yet faced the biggest challenge possible on grass, namely Djokovic. But still he took the games very seriously and he is also a grass player. His clay game will be compared to other surfaces, but that is not expedient in any case because taking his own clay stats as the benchmark for his grass stats would result in Alcaraz being bad on grass, but he isn't. He is in shape again and he wants to win Wimbledon.

Unbelievable win by Bublik, really strong performance and was able to serve for that win
even after 2 double faults had the mental strength to close it out.
...

as far as I could see, I think he's a really strong player even physically (he's 1.90 meters tall).
But very often I have seen in his matches a total sense of "surrendering" when the result was not in favor.
Probably now he has matured and understood his real abilities.

I read articles declaring proudly that he "will be dangerous at Wimbledon" Roll Eyes
I don't know, I have many doubts about it, I don't think he can get beyond the quarter-finals ...

He is a tall player and has a lot of talent. He has been a very unpredictable player
and I for one have never given him a chance thats why I was surprised he got so
far the the tournament.

as for Wimbledon - lets see, lets see how he copes with the 5 set matches and if
he can carry his performance into that.

Changing the coaching team and became a father might give him a breath of fresh air to perform better, and actually he's a pretty good player, especially for his serve which can be said to be more solid than Zverev in this tournament, and his serve gave a lot of points for him to finally secure the title champion here.

His serve is a massive weapon, he has the height as an advantage.

I think I can speak for many when I say I didnt realise he had changed coaching team
and that he recently became a father, In my mind those two factors will change anyones
outlook and it seems it could have been a big factor in his.

Is this a new Bublik? will he finally show us his true capabilities, we will soon find out.

So only one of my bets worked out yesterday, Alcaraz was very strong to win Queens.

Alcaraz was pretty cool at ATP Queen's maybe because we've never seen him impress on grass so that's kind of special.

Wimbledon might be different for the two players, but at least we will see Djokovic get a tough challenge especially if Jannick Sinner recovers at the Grand Slam later, because last year at least he was able to make Djokovic have to play 5 sets in the semifinals even though he lost in the end, I mean this year's Wimbledon can be more competitive because Russian players have also been allowed to play and surprises might happen later.

I'm really surprised to see Bublik reach the final over at Halle, I'm surprised with the odds for Rublev, I
thought he would be more favoured to win this. At 1.65 it hard to pass up on this opportunity.

de Minaur did really well against Rune, I'm happy for him but as you say Alcaraz is rightly the favourite
he looks very strong on grass so far.

I'll be betting on Rublev and Alcaraz but seperately, not a combo bet.
Yes, the surprises continued and finally he was able to become the champion in this tournament, and throughout his journey here it was relatively only when he beat Struff and in the final against Rublev he got quite a tight resistance, Zverev in the semifinals was even difficult to break this player's serve, and this became Bublik's second ATP title, and extraordinary achievement for a player like him because he also often appears inconsistent and this is the first ATP 500 title.

And Alcaraz at ATP Queen's was very solid, even though he looked nervous on his last serve to kill the match but he was able to control the situation quickly and only two sets, so that proved he was experiencing rapid growth

Not that tennis isn’t a great sport on its own, but lately I’ve noticed a rise in tennis derivative sports. For example, I’m seeing highlights from a tennis baseball league that looks like a lot of fun. In addition, I also for the first time saw wheelchair tennis in action and I must say that it looks incredibly difficult. A ton of respect for the people doing that.

I have to admit that Bublik winning Halle is a huge surprise.
Yes, the draw was lucky, but that tournament had a really strong lineup.

I'm really curious to see how he'll do in Wimbledon. Same for Alcaraz - who dominantly won in Queens but still won't be among the favorites.

I am positive for the next weeks for Alcaraz on grass. He seems to be fit again and he won the title in the Queen's Club championship without losing a single set after the first game against Rinderknech in the round of 16. It is a relief to see him play like that on grass as I have no idea why Wimbledon should become exciting when Djokovic is peaking in performance again and everyone else is crashing. I think Alcaraz is again our last hope to deliver some entertaining tennis and hopefully a serious fight should he encounter Djokovic there again.
