Are you seriously expecting Smith to help chase down a mammoth total of 400 runs on his own? He is still human and he cannot achieve everything on his own guys. He needs 2 partners to help him and I doubt that will happen.
I have not lost faith yet :-P
Yeah, I know someone will need to help him by staying in the pitch with him. Let's hope that it's Wade but I am not liking him coming down to the pitch and try hitting Leach.

Odd for Australia is @ 9.20 LOL

Edit:
We have Launch break. Australia 68/3 and 5 full session left in this test match to score another 331 runs (I know my expectation is crazy LOL).

With Smith dismissal early, England will surely win this test making the series level.

Let me analysis what Aussie needs to do in order to win the Ashes

Make ONLY 400 Runs
Or Survive for ONLY 174 Overs

See my focus is on ONLY  Wink

Considering the past records Aussie have won only 1 time while chasing 390+ and have lost 37 times.  Roll Eyes

Ok still they do not need to be sad because even if they lose, they will take the Ashes with them home. So virtually have have nothing to lose. Just play the natural game and see if they can win this.

My eyes are burning after Warner's dismissal, he's now Broad's official Bunny and turn out to be his biggest nemesis in Ashes. he got his wicket 7 times  Roll Eyes

Warner's Score in The Ashes :  2, 8 ,3 , 5, 61, 0 , 0 ,0 ,5,11
Wow. Absolutely insane. The selectors need to keep Warner in the ODI and T-20 side at this point, but give a more capable test player a chance at this point. Warner was amazing during the World Cup while Smith is rocking the Ashes.

Good thing is that Smith is still in the pitch and as long as he is there nothing is guaranteed for England.

Labuschagne could be a bit more careful. The foot was very wide in the air and Bairstow did the rest. Australia lost their 3rd wicket. As usual Warner failed. Early two wickets fall and Labuschagne - Smith small partnership but it was just broken.

Good thing is that Smith is still in the pitch and as long as he is there nothing is guaranteed for England.

Warner's Score in The Ashes :  2, 8 ,3 , 5, 61, 0 , 0 ,0 ,5,11
10 innings total = 95 LOL

Warner really needs to sit back and think about his future move.

Just as I thought ENG didn't manage to get past 400 instead fixed a target of 399 for AUS. Marcus Harris out for 9 and to my surprise, Warner got a double-digit score (11) Tongue So now we have Smith and Labuschagne on the crease and the whole match depends on how this partnership builds up.

And by the looks of it, if anyone had a bet on AUS, I think you are going to lose your bet.

399 seems ok target for Australia. Hope they will chase this down. Either way even a draw is enough for them to retains series so no pressure on them plus they have 2 days in hand. They can easily play this down easily and calmly.

Warner has been out of form this entire Ashes but I do hope for something from him at this ending stage.

I think we can all agree that choosing England to win(Draw no bet) has a 99% win percentile rate at this point.
That's what everyone is thinking. Mind that there are still a long way to go for this Test. Australia needs two good sessions and they have done this thousand times. Considering the recent psychological battle between England and Australia, I will still side for Australia. Of course Smith will need to perform and few of the batsmen will need to support him.

Australia to win odd @ 6.00!

Anyone dare to risk some money?
My problem is that if I start gambling then I will not stop again unless I lose a large amount. I know my habit very well.

Archer is out very early today and i think soon this England innings be over.
Its good to bet on Aussie at 6.00 odds as they will be needing a little less than 400 runs to win and believe me they can do it if the luck favors them.
Betting is the name of taking risk and this risk is worth to take.  Wink

Surprising to see that you still expect Warner to perform, after he failed to even make a total of 100 runs during his past 9 innings. Anyway, even if Australia is not serious about this test (they have already retained the Ashes), the 4th innings is going to be extremely crucial for Warner. It is his last chance. If he fails this time as well, then I expect the selectors to kick him out of the test side (and given his age, any chances of a comeback looks slim).
After this Ashes if Aussie management decides to give retirement to Warner then no one will say a single word. Warner got unbelievable support from the board. So far 9 innings and flop in one after another innings in a row. It seems he turned to be a liability for the team. Whenever Australia starts their innings we know that they will lose a quick wicket and will start from behind. How long?

Warner's performance is not even close to his usual since the World cup if I am not wrong.

The partnership between Denly and Stokes was the turning point. For the first time in this series so far, the Australian bowlers (including Cummins) were looking quite ordinary. Perhaps they were relaxed after leveling the series. Anyway, now it is going to be extremely difficult for them to win this test as the target is going to be above 400.
Observed that too. Its like a see-saw at this point(English bowlers vs Australian bowlers). I think we can all agree that choosing England to win(Draw no bet) has a 99% win percentile rate at this point.

And I am quite sure that one man army of Smith can't get to a total of above 300 in reply.
If Smith and Warner get going, anything is possible. It comes down to whether Archer and the other English bowlers can keep regularly plucking away their wickets. Anything can happen in such high stakes test matches(Example: Recent English win).

The match is in England control now and only if Smith plays a sensational inning again the things may be in Oz control else this should be a England match from here considering the way they had bowled well in first innings to OZ.

As we saw during the first innings of Aus, Smith alone can't get them out of the gutter. To his credit, Smith batted wonderfully during the first innings and he got out in desperation when he was trying to slog hit after running out of partners. Apart from Marnus Labuschagne, none of the other Australian batsmen have shown any fightback against the English bowlers. And it is surprising that the selectors have gone ahead with the same players match after match.

It is going to be very difficult to face the English bowlers at the Oval during the 4th day of play. And I am not expecting much from the Australian batsmen other than Smith. England is leading by 382 with another 2 wickets remaining and getting the lead to 400+ is going to be very easy for them. And I am quite sure that one man army of Smith can't get to a total of above 300 in reply.

I wouldn't say that they are in control. If they had a lead in excess of 100 runs in the first innings, then I would have agreed with you. But their lead of 69 runs is not something that is very unsurmountable.
Would you agree now that England is in control with a lead of 382 and two full days left for this match Wink, when Australia struggled to put runs on the board apart from Smith i knew the match is getting away from Australia and now England have a commendable lead against them and it is a matter of how long they will go before declaring and putting Australia to bat, England will level the series in my opinion and we will see some major changes in the Australian team.

I agree, England will level the series and make it a tie however Australia retain the Ashes. If England can get a 400+ run lead then it will be very tough for Australia to win even with Smith being in the form he is in right now. Yes I also think there will be some changes as Warner has been in poor form this series and I think he needs to be dropped and I'm not sure that Siddle will hold his spot in the team as well.
