What a horrible performance on the last day. They don't seem to even make 150 at this point and now their loss will be by 250+ runs lol. Poor Woakes is left alone to bat and atleast he shouldn't give away strike to to Anderson so that he can get to 150. Lyon proved to be the lion of the game. He's eating away all the Eng batsmen :=P

I am watching the match since the morning and it was good to see how Smith and Head batted the entire first season. Just few overs before the launch Stokes got Head but now Wade is doing the job of Head.
Smith got his century. Australians are in very good position. I think once they will have a lead of 250 runs then they will start playing for big scores so that they can give England enough runs to chase also they can have enough time to all out England. Just need to have a rainless finish.
The first Test is looking very good for Australia now.

England have lost 9 nine wickets and now Australia needs only 1 wicket to win. Only a miracle can save England now. This test match was really worth watching and it's a perfect start to the Ashes.

This title will be relevant only in England but the rest of the world the headline will be " the fluke world champions" somehow managed to draw the test match as they are playing a really defensive game and i am not sure how strong the defense of Buttler and Stokes will be and how much patience they have to defend like that. I still felt 300-350 was a good score to defend as they know that England don't even have enough time as mostly they bowl 80-90 overs and they have chances of picking up wickets too so 398 is far from achieving in one day when Australia themselves took 1.5 days to get those runs.
The main reason Australia took a safe route is that they have Jason Roy in the team who will score at a high pace and if he gets going any score is reachable and with Joe Root, Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes in the team if the total looks approachable they might go for the win and Australia cannot risk that, so is the main reason they delayed the declaration. Lyon is getting good purchase from the wicket and it is interesting to see how England will survive the next few sessions.I think you meant Australia. Anyway
I meant England as i wanted to see their approach on reaching that total on the final day, teams who like to dare will go for the win as they have some explosive batsmen and if they loose wickets then they will defend till evening

Mighty World champions were nearly losing against a Test team like Ireland few days ago. Also thanks to the Umpires that most of the decision turns into in their favor. They are playing very slowly today as Burns got out and now already 20 overs are done and they are at just 54 runs for 1. 3.5 RR is still not enough. Losing hope of England winning but I hope they don't lose by 100-200 runs. Hope they are looking for a draw at this stage. 4 runs per over would atleast keep the board ticking.
Never take Australia too easily. They can change situation in any moment. You will see the 80% chances for England to draw the match before tea break but after tea break before few overs of the end of the day, you will see Australia took the last wicket. I mean I am confident about Australia to win this match.F**k umpires.

Well this test, the worse can be for Australia is England will bat the whole day or the rain will interrupt and we will see a draw. If that not happen then I am seeing a win for Australia. Till now England is in positive mood but if they lose few wickets then they will take the defensive strategy to spend the whole day.Smith is the man. After losing 8 wickets in the first innings, no one thought that Australia was going to win this test.

If you look at first inning of both teams, then you will notice how slowly they made the runs. The run rate was around 2.75 and 3,75 per over. But during second inning Australians were moving scoreboard quickly, and they end up with a healthy run rate of 4.34 per over. It tells us one thing that as match proceed pitch became easy for the batsmen. So OZ camp went for an easy solution about putting enough run on board so that they can not lose the match and then try to get opponent wickets as England need to maintain more than 4 run average if they want to win this test match.
PS : In test match always compare inning with overs-sessions.

Double centuries and huge partnerships are the only way that they can win this or call it a draw. Beauty of test matches where results swing wildly back and forth. Lets see how it plays out.
To score 398 runs on a single day and that too on the final day of a test match is an impossible task, even if you put together the best batsmen in the world you will never score those runs on the final day, it is a sure shot draw and Australia played really well especially Smith back in the team and in prime form was a real surprise as he is playing a test match after a very long time. If Australia could pick wickets then England will have a huge task to defend the match and it will be an interesting first few hours. the first 2 hours on the final day will determine how the match will go as England will look to defend as scoring 398 runs is an impossible task.

Looks like they want to got for 400+. Either Aus will win or it will be a draw as no chance that England will manage to chase 400 runs tomorrow even if 90 overs are bowled. Sad when teams are so ambitious.
