Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee will ring the bell before the start of play, while paratroopers - yes, you read that right - will fly in to deliver the pink balls to the two captains at the start.

This is big and it seems really good for cricket. But in the ground if there are no competition then everything will fade away. I hope Bangladesh will give a good fight.
Imagine if this was in between Australia and India :-D

For sure, we needed this test match to between the two big teams and not like a one sided dull match. There are very few day and night test matches and we want them to be trilling. As I remember the last day&night test match happened from 24 to 28 January 2019 in Brisbane. This match was also one sided and Australia won by an innings and some 40 odd runs.

That 281 by VVS Laxman was against one of the best bowling attacks of that time. And it will be difficult to believe that it came during the 3rd innings. India followed on after getting all-out for 171 in the first innings, but then made 657/7 in the next innings. Laxman and Dravid had a 5th wicket partnership of 376 runs, against a bowling attack that consisted of McGrath, Gillespie and Warne.
And not to mention that Test was actually a historic Test. The entire Indian team took a U - turn and save the series from losing. They also stopped the consecutive Test winning record in this series.
If I can recall then this was the third Test of the series and first two Test was already won by Australia. India drew that Test and then won the last two Test.
Please help me to find the record. I am not sure if I am right but my memory is saying something like this.

I don't know who is managing the board but them have to think about it . I still recall the time when they had Akmal, Misbah, Younis..such fine players. If things remain like this, they will likely by left out with capable bowlers only and only be relying on them rather than on inexperienced batsman in future.

Sourav Ganguly first gig turning out to be good for Test cricket so far, he left no stone unturned for this. Inviting Bangladesh's Hon. PM Sheikh Hasina along with first test team of Bangladesh. i really hope after this he will take care of spectators concerns regarding stadium facilities etc.
This will be great. He is trying to create some buzz around. I guess the match will be full of visitors. Well, he will certainly take care of everything, he was a good sportsman after all.
It's Eden Garden; oldest stadium in India. Let me bring some test history for team India on the board.

Highest Score- 657/d by India
Lowest Score- 90 by India
Lowest Win Margin- 28 runs by India
Highest Individual- 281 by VVS Laxman

These are some good stats for the upcoming match. Moreover, it's the broken Bangladesh.

So BCCI is inaugurating the day night Test match with a bang and there is a reason for that, if the match could attract the audience interest which they are looking for and it will become a grand success in the grant scheme of things then we might see day night matches quite often and their main focal point will be TRP rating and stadium audience.

The day/night test match is attracting a lot of interest, because it is a new concept. But they won't be able to retain this interest, if the matches turn out to be one-sided. And with the current condition of Bangladesh, I am not expecting anything extra-ordinary from them. It will be a miracle, if the match lasts for more than three days.

Yes, this truly serves to be a change in the cricketing if it gets predicted response from the audience. Already few matches have taken place which has lead to historical records and now it is the 12th match to be played. First in this category of pink ball cricket for India and Bangladesh. A very different experience for both the teams. In day night test cricket Australia has the dominance on wins while Pakistan holds the record for highest run scoring. Can expect few records to be broken in this match.  Cheesy

A T20 or one day might be won single handed but a test match cannot be won alone. Even if Rizwan was batting well, yet the whole team got out on 240. This means that even if he remained not out, the team could have scored on 30-40 more runs. You should give credit to the Australian players who are continuing their good form in this test too.
You cannot predict the outcome of a wicket as we have seen some surprising match winning innings in the past and if the Pakistan bowlers can restrict the Australian batsman then it will be an interesting match and these 30 to 40 runs might be a huge difference. With the technology in place the umpires need to check the decisions if they are not hundred percent certain and in this case Cummins bowled a no ball and no one rectified that and the third umpire was chilling at that time  Cheesy.

So if the third umpires knew that he had bowled a no ball, can't they interfere and ask the field umpires to change their decision. Why is that field umpires can trigger the third umpires and third umpires cannot advise the field umpire directly.

Day-Night Test is finally in India, and Sourav Ganguly & Co. have spared no expense or idea to create a stirring buzz. There's been instant gratification for all the efforts too, in the form of rapid ticket sales that has seen the first four days of the Test being sold out already.

Quote
The quick turnaround time between the newly-appointed BCCI president Sourav Ganguly suggesting the need to play a Day-Night fixture and the board actually hosting one was surprisingly short, given India's reluctance to play it in Australia in late 2018. But Kohli had a defence to offer, believing it's the sort of a concept that first needs to be trialled at home, before the team can take the plunge on away shores.

Quote
What to expect: A lot of uncertainty. There's a healthy grass cover on the pitch that will aide the quicks. Kohli believes the pink ball has been travelling a lot quicker than anticipated, making catches difficult to take. There's also the issue of dew that could cripple the bowling side under lights. The weather is expected to be clear throughout, though.

It's not about winning single handed match. It's all about inattentiveness of the umpire. Rizwan might get out on the next ball but the decision is controversial, it's wrong in deed.
Test match can also be single handed. Stoke has proved that as well in the Ashes.

It was very hard for Ground Umpire but Third umpire had millions of camera angle and footage but still he went with soft decision of out which was original decision. i can make peace with Ground umpire when it comes to close calls but third umpire simply has no excuse. this kind of decision can cost game to one team, Rizwan was playing very well and was in attacking mode.

Guess, you forget the 3rd Match of the Ashes where ground umpire turned down the obvious LBW decision against the Ben stokes, He was out and Aussie team didn't had any review left. Result England won the match with 1 wicket.

If we are turning blind eye on ridiculous umpiring then its another discussion and i am fine with it. Having said that if we are talking about hypothetical world then why stick with 30-40 runs only, let's go with 100+ runs and we shouldn't forget Australia have to bat 4th inning.Grin

Not taking credit from Aussie Seamers..... just pissed off with the umpiring standard.

6th wicket down now, have to say very bad decision from ground and third umpire. it was clearly no ball from pat Cummins but umpire gave Mohammad Rizwan out anyway. what's the use of technology if you still not going to use it correctly,
This has been a problem for sometime now. The frequency of bad decisions keeps increasing with time and I blame ICC for this. Majority of the decisions given by the umpires these days are so messed up that I feel like the viewers can do a better job in comparison.

I did not watch the match but all the third umpires usually take a look at the no ball and then proceed with the rest of the ultra edge and other technological methods to determine whether the on field umpire made the right decision and i am not sure what happened in this case but if the third umpire made this blunder then he is not fit to be an umpire as he usually gets a few referrals every match and if he is not even capable of verifying with the help of all the equipment then he might need an assistant  Cheesy

Have Fun )@@( Stay Safe
From tomorrow we will have a day night test match between India and Bangladesh and a first one in India . This is going to be exciting and also a Fun to watch out as India would be stronger side to start with as in last T20 we saw what happened .
I have not watched a day night Test match yet and hope it will help the bowlers too as the pink ball is said to help the fast bowlers as you will get more swing with it and if it is a success then it will continue in the future, India will win the match within 3 days as i do not expect much resistance from the Bangladesh players.

England surprised me with a steady start and they are in a comfortable position.
Pakistan did not surprise me as they are all out for 240 runs.

I agree. It seems that the pink ball is heavier than the red ball according to Kohli. It will be interesting to watch how many people attend this event in Kolkata and if Ganguly made the right call here. Excited.
