Updated WTC point table.

In this cycle Pakistan has a real solid chance of qualifying into the finals. They are playing SENA countries in their own condition (Home) or may be their UAE home ground, all away matches are against Ban, SL and WI.

NZ, Ind, Aus, Eng has a equal chance of qualifying. Although we can rule out England completely cause they are already 2-1 behind one of their own home series against India and playing against Kiwis at home. Ashes is on the line too. Their schedule looks tough af.

These test match rules completely suck sometimes. How the heck does NZ get away with a draw when India clearly won the match?

Really, now you want to award the wining's to the Indian team even if they have not managed to win the match ?

The fact is that Indian team have included failed and pathetic bowlers like Ishant Sharma, Ashwin and Patel who cant even bowl out the last man of the New Zealand team. They were looking completely helpless to get the wicket.
A rare thing happened in the Kanpur draw when the Indian bowling line up failed to pick up the last wicket. Yes, visitors rarely draw with India in a test match. A lot of effort and heart went into that result. The Indian bowlers managed to put NZ under pressure throughout the innings, but NZ batters made a significant contribution till the last ball.

I would say New Zealand deserved to draw the match. I was expecting India to win the match considering they had all the world class spinners and still if they are able to last the entire day is their resistance and fight to avoid the defeat. Glad i did not place a bet on India to win the match, i was thinking to place a bet but the odds were not that great and hence i skipped placing a bet.
Surely they have done one of their best test performance at Indian soil because no one was expecting resistance like this from them specially after losing all well experienced batsmen last pair stay at crease for 10 overs which is best from their tail enders after this draw now they can feel much relaxed because now they have some good experience and better strategy for next game which is going to play after just 3 days at Mumbai which is also heaven for spinners and this is going to be very interesting competition between these two teams because now Kohli is also coming back and New Zealanders also having some better time after this draw lets see what's going to happen with both teams looking for some healthy points for WTC.

Eventually India has given a target of 284 runs to the New Zealand team. The surface of the pitch is helping the bowlers more now. New Zealand has lost their first wickets today and the match will continue on day five. I have a strong feelings that India will win the match. There is a big difference between the betting odds and it is fully in favour of India now.

Congrats to those who made there bet on draw they must have enough funds to enjoy there Christmas and new year. Its proved once again that odds are nothing to predict the outcome of any match. They say and I believe that "cricket is old funny game". India must be disappointed and they should rightly be but nonetheless its an interesting contest.

If you had placed a bet on a draw before the start of the match, that's understandable but i doubt anyone would have placed a bet on draw on the last day of this test match. There were no signs of draw but the last wicket partnership stood in between a winning of a team and a draw. No one would have predicted this in the morning of the last day of the test.

These test match rules completely suck sometimes. How the heck does NZ get away with a draw when India clearly won the match? The ICC needs to add a Duckworth Lewis kind of system in order to prevent draws in tests.

Test matches ending in draws are pointless basically and nullifies all efforts by players of both teams which is messed up. This is one of the primary reasons why I don't bother watching tests from start to finish.

I don't think that a rule similar to the Duckworth/Lewis is going to help. In case of the Kanpur test, there was no rain interruption and 5 days of play was possible. And there is no defense, if a result can't be obtained in a sports match after paying for close to 40 hours. A football match lasts for 1.5 hours and provides a definite result in the end. A hockey match lasts even shorter and it also provided the results. Now comes test cricket, which doesn't provide a result after playing continuously for 5 days. We really need to get rid of this obsolete format.

India failed to take 10 wickets, although they were bit unlucky that bad light ruined their party when they needed only 1 wicket but they had their chances.

I do agree that such kind of draw doesn't taste good to strongly positioned sides but test cricket need similar results sometimes or some last overs finish because it makes test cricket more exciting and will attract more eyeballs in a longer run as far as Red ball cricket is concern. I would also add that no one forgets these kind of tests even after decades.

Having said that, bad light problem could be tackle in some cases if cricket board start focusing more on D/N tests at some venues where sunlight becoming big issue during winter or other reasons.

Did not expect a draw today. Yes NZ has done it so well until the last over. Till last evening, was hoping India would take off all wickets. India set a target of 284. NZ stood still after 9th wicket and that made them drawn the match. Last wicket last till the end facing 59 balls.

Axar and Aswin's performance have really lead Indian fans to win today's test match. Hoping for a win in the second test match soon.
India played good, and New Zealand on the last day gave an unexpected performance. I thought New Zealand will make it looking upon its scoring pattern. In between the consecutive wickets turned the game. For the last wicket India tried all possible ways, but weren't able to take the wicket. In the next match India will try to be more stronger, understanding what to be done and where the mistake took place.

Very unprofessional gameplay for New Zealand batsmen. Henry Nicholls managed just 2 runs in the first innings. After collecting only 1 run in the second innings, he returned to the dressing room. Ross Taylor's collection is 11 in the first innings, only 2 in the second innings. Since now their goal is to draw the match. They should have patiently tried to stay on the crease for a while.

But very much professional play by there lower order batsman as they manage to draw the game. Lyer was no doubt brilliant but credit goes to Ravindra and Patel for blocking the balls.

Meanwhile we have second test b/w SL and WI underway. Due to rain only 34 over were bowled, right now SL in good position with just one wicket loss. But from gambling perspective its difficult to say wt will be result of the match.

Well after the match everyone can say who deserve to win or lose the game but as a gambler you need to make that decision before the start f the match or before the book is closed. This test match took turn every single day of its play, placing bets on such match is very difficult but also profitable at the same time.

I would say that India deserve a win in this test match. Unluckily they were not able to take the last wicket and the match ended in a draw, There is not much teams can do in such situations. Lets see who will win the next test match as the winner of the 2nd test will be the winner of the series.

Vaccinized.. immunity level is full.
The Indians almost getting close pulled off a win today! India fought back in the second session and almost close won the match in the third session. However, New Zealand deserves credit for their performance. The Kiwi batsmen fought valiantly against quality Indian spinners and were rewarded with a draw. When the game is tight and you have tail enders trying to save it under immense pressure, a couple of overs would've been helpful. Overall a good contest.

Well, I also think that India did deserve to win today but Newzealand also did not deserve to lose at all. Their last pair really put up a strong fight against the Indian bowlers. New Zealand should give all the credit to their last pair of batsmen. Because I saw their playstyle, that top order and the middle order were absolutely horrible.

Pakistan ended the day with 109-0. I told before that it won't be easy to win against Pakistan. Now this match is well under our control. We need only 93 more runs and it should not be a problem with 10 full wickets in the hand. Bangladesh played well in the first innings but they failed to produce a similar sort of batting display in the 2nd innings.
Pakistan from here on will win unless they do some blunder. Bangladesh is weak team so can't say its difficult to beat Pakistan.  Shafique is having an ideal test debut, not many have such start along with other opener Abid. Bangladesh got lead in first innings but they collapsed in second innings, giving an edge to Pakistan.

I think Pakistan should easily win from here because they only need 93 runs more and they have 10 wickets in hand and a whole day of test cricket. And I honestly thought that Bangladesh should have done much more better in the second innings. But yet again they collapsed in front of a really good Pakistani bowling attack. For me, Pakistan wins this 100%.

Wow what a match!! Nail biting draw...

NZ survived and debutant Rachin Ravindra (Combination of Ra-hul and Sa-chin, his parents were fan of Rahul Dravid and Sachin) is a hero for kiwis.

In my recent memory especially on Indian pitches, i don't remember any match which went this close. One team needed just 1 wicket and other was on surviving mode and match has been called off due to bad lights. They lost 10 mins of game here, anything could have happen in those 10 mins. India would be very disappointing.

It is really good luck for New zealand because I don't think they would have survived the bowling of India. But the last pair did their job and survived. My question is to the top order and Middle-order that what were they playing for? Their batting order failed completely today and they are lucky to come out with withdrawal from this match.

If India deserved to win then they would have won this match so I would not agree on that. Newzealand batter well and defense was so good even for lower order batsman. With last wicket in hand they did not loose the confiendce and they were able to draw this test match and full marks to them for that. India got very close but just not able to finish it off

I think Newzealand is really lucky to even draw the match because they were dominated by the Indian bowlers. I think they were really lucky to even survive with the last wicket. But I think the last pair did well enough to defend the bonus and come out with a draw.
Now India leads the series by 1-0.

Credit for this draw goes to Ravindra and Patel without that partnership it won't be possible for NZ to draw the game. Can somebody share stats of what's the longest last wicket partnership for such draws? I guess there are not much partnerships like that AFAIK.
When last wicket partnership saved the day

When we talk about the last wicket partnership, first of all, which comes to my mind is Ben Stokes and Jack Leach's last wicket partnership against Australia. They put up a 76 run partnership together. And here are some other greatest last-wicket partnerships Smiley.

Yes, I think if there were two more overs then things definitely could have been different. But the tailenders really fought to stay in the crease. The Indian bowlers were on fire. Jadeja and Ashwin took apart the New Zealand batting lineup. But I honestly expected more out of the New Zealand batting lineup. They should have known that they will have to face these bowlers. But the draw was a good result I'll say.
