Almost everyone say that test cricket is tough but 2 new guys Axar Patel and Kyle Jamieson are having amazing time when playing red ball cricket and if you ask them then they might end up saying nah, its pretty easy.  Roll Eyes

Axar Patel : Playing his 4th test match and already took 32 wickets with 5 fifers.
Kyle Jamieson : 9th match and touched 50 wickets, fastest NZ bowler to take 50 wickets.

My doubt is whether New Zealand will be able to collect 300 runs. They lost one more wicket. They lost their ninth wicket for 284 runs. Now William Somerville and Ajaz Patel is at the crease. They can't bat well. Axar Patel bowled brilliantly today. He has taken 5 wickets. However, with today's third day of play underway, the match is most likely to be a draw.

They were 4 runs short of 300 and india has now lead of 51 runs. The match is now very much interesting, if India can play score 350 runs till second session of forth day and allow NZ to play one session of forth day plus fifth complete day then India has very much chance of winning the match IMO. NZ are very much out of the game now.

Whaaatt the helllll..........Newzeland lost their first wicket at 151 runs, and lost 2nd wicket at 197runs. After collecting 73 runs, they lost the remaining 6 wickets. New Zealand lost 8 wickets for 280 runs. Apart from the opening two batsmen, no other batsman has been able to play well. New Zealand will lose all their wickets before collecting 345 runs. I would be happy if New Zealand lost this Test. They do not deserve to win or draw a match with such a poor performance.

With 49 runs behind India, New Zealand lost all their wickets. The first two batsmen scored 184 runs and the remaining 8 batsmen scored 112 runs. No New Zealand fan expected such a catastrophic disaster. I thought that the New Zealand team will be at least 150 runs ahead of India. However, in the second innings, if we do not see a team batting disaster, then the match will be a draw.

India went down to bat and lost one of their key batsmen by just two runs. Shubman Gill returned to the dressing room with just 1 run. In the first innings, he played a crucial innings of 52 runs. So I thought he would do well in the second innings. And today India will not lose any wicket. At the end of the third day, India 14/1. India is leading by  63 runs.

The match has changed completely now NZ has lost 8 wickets and I do not think they will last till the end of the day. I was expecting Young to score his 100 but it seems he was pretty much struggling today. From India's side, Axar Patel took 5 wickets and he is the person responsible for the debacle of NZ batting. Good comeback by the India team
NZ collapsed like a pack of cards after an amazing opening stand. It seemed like they would provide a lead at one point, but they buckled under pressure and I am expecting them to trail India by 30-40 runs.

India struggled against the pacers(Southee and Jamieson) while NZ struggled against the spinners(Axar Patel) in the first innings.

Honestly, I didn't really expect a draw, but that seems like the most realistic outcome at this point considering everything unless the Indian team collapse and end up giving NZ the advantage in this match.

Typical test match behavior of subcontinent. In there first inning both NZ and Bangladesh were so good and established but they were not able to capitalize there overnight strength.  NZ were hundred for zero overnight but seems like they will fell short of India 345 runs. Meanwhile Pakistan is looking strong in reply to Bangladesh 330. But anything can happen tomorrow with Pakistan batting, so better score as much as they can today.

I am saying 500 runs for Bangladesh because this is their only chance. They won't be able to score big in the 2nd innings and if Bangladesh score under 350 runs, then Pakistan can still win it.
Why do they need 500? Underestimating the Bangladesh bowlers? Shakib is not playing, but they do have some very good spinners. And don't forget the fact that Pakistan is batting second, and in all probability they will be batting during the 4th and 5th days of this match. BTW, Liton Das has got out. Hasan Ali got his man, finally. Right now Bangladesh is at 255/5. They may end up somewhere between 300-350. If they could take the total to 350-400, then there is a chance. Else Pakistan will be having the advantage.
Not under estimating the Bangladesh bowlers but i have confidence in the Pakistani batsmen. After the partnership was broken at 255 runs, Bangladesh only made 80 more runs and they were all out at 330. They unable to capitalize on that partnership.
Also pakistani batsmen are good players of spin so this may also help them tackle the Bangladesh spinners.

The partnership between Musfiqur Rahim and Liton das was really good. But after them, Bangladesh really could not capitalize on that weak partnership and make a real big score that was expected after that. I thought that they were good to make at least 400. But the middle order and late order just collapsed.
Currently, Pakistan is batting and they are really dominating the Bangladeshi bowlers. They haven't lost any wicket and scored 104 runs already.

India pulling things back into their favor quite nicely. Runs are not coming easy for the kiwis and they lost 3 quick wickets after Will Young who batted beautifully throughout his inning, unlucky that he didn't get his first ton. Kiwis should reach the 300 mark easily, despite 4 wickets down cause Latham still there and they have quality all rounders down the order.

On the other hand there is another kind of competition going on between Axar and Ashwin for the wickets.

Edit

Latham is gone! 5 runs short of his century, poor guy. Axar got his 3rd wicket.

^ Newzealand should reach 300 as they still have three wickets left but I think that even then when India comes to bat they will start their innings with a lead. But the lead should really be small like 30 or 40 runs. I think Newzealand should really stay in the pitch and get as many times as possible. Latham was really unlucky to miss his hundred. Indian bowlers are really making it hard for New Zealand.

The Pakistan squad is good enough. Pakistan batsmen will not have a problem to collect 330 runs made by Bangladesh. Pakshithan started their innings. Abid Ali and Abdullah Shafique are batting. They have collected 7 runs in 5.3 overs. Good enough batting. If these two batsmen can be set at the crease, they are enough to destroy the Bangladeshi bowlers.

No batsman has been able to stand firm at the crease since Liton Das was dismissed. Mushfiqur and Yasir Ali were out. At this moment, the last hope of Bangladesh is Mirage. If he can play a big innings then Bangladesh might be able to score 350 or 400 runs. If Miraj is out, Bangladesh will not be able to score even 300 runs. Bangladesh players should be more patient and responsible to playing Test matches.
It is sad to see that even Bangladesh experienced batter Mushfiqur Rahim falls short of his century! He just missed out on earning the deserving three figures. Regardless, Bangladesh has passed 300 runs with two wickets in hand. This is a great effort from 49-4 to today's morning. Under 400 is not good enough on this pitch. I look forward to seeing how far Mehidy Miraz and Abu Jayed can score for Bangladesh.

Bangladesh have lost all their wickets and Miraj is still unbeaten. Apart from Mominul, Mushfiqur and Miraj, I have not seen any other player play well for Bangladesh's Test format on a regular basis. However, Bangladesh managed to collect 330 runs. 330 is a good enough collection compared to the way they started the innings. The match will not be difficult to draw if the bowlers can perform their duties properly.

Bangladesh scored 319 runs losing 8 wickets. As you said, Bangladesh will have hope if Mirage is at the crease. He is still unbeaten on 31 runs. If Bangladesh can score 380 runs and survive at the crease till lunch break then it will be a good performance for Bangladesh team. The draw against Pakistan could be a big achievement for Bangladesh.

New Zealand lost their first wicket by 151 runs. Will Young has scored 89 runs off 214 balls. At the moment New Zealand's collection is 188 runs. They are just 157 runs behind India. The match is not under India's control. New Zealand batsmen now control the match. Maybe New Zealand will win, otherwise the match will be a draw. Everything will depend on the batting performance of India's second innings.
