Only during the WTC the ICC wanted a reserve day but during regular series i doubt that the team will allow a reserve day because the tour date will last longer.
Yes now a days there is not much rest for the players as the schedules are tightly packed and none of the cricket board will approve for a reserve day as they are after money and they do not care if there are results or not, all they want is more series to be played which means more money to be earned.

Fawad Alam is the batsman that is playing well for Pakistan in recent times along with Babar Azam and glad that he is getting the opportunity and showcase his talent at 35 years of age. I thought he would be a regular in the team when he first joined the team and scored a century in debut but that did not happen and late in his career he got the opportunity and now making use of his lost years.

Only 1.2 overs were bowled and the game was stopped then. The filed wasn't suitable for playing. The first session of day 3 is wasted. The match is continued now, but we shouldn't expect anything else than a draw from this point. And I agree with you. A reserve day will be helpful in these cases. ICC should implement the reserve day for each test game like they used it in WTC final match. It was effective too.

There is no need for a reserve day. The delay here was not caused as a result of rain. The delay was resulted from the inability of the ground staff to keep the ground properly covered. And this has occurred on a regular basis in the West Indies, although it is almost unheard in any other country. The ICC should take note of this and issue a warning to the WICB. I feel bad for the Pakistani batsmen, as they were in a good position. If play gets delayed further, then in all probability this test will end in a draw.
The condition WICB is in, I really don't expect that they will care about these petty issues, even ICC knows the condition of WICB, so they won't issue any warnings to them and the way how new countries aren't interested in cricket I am sure ICC don't want to remove another test playing nation from the list. A warning obviously must be there for formality but I don't think it'll change a lot of things.

By the way, after the session is wasted I think Pakistan lost their momentum completely and the result of that is in front of us after the collapse of top order even the lower order collapsed quickly, Fawad Alam is batting like a one-man army. But let's see how far can he take the team.

This is the third day and West Indies is yet to bat and who knows how they are going to perform, Pakistan have Fawad Alam in the crease and he is one short of his century and a well deserved century but he is batting with the tail and how long he can bat with the tail exposed, i am expecting Pakistan to make around 300 runs and West Indies batsman determines how the match ends  Grin .

While it's sunny in Kingston today, the ground is still not ready. As the ground hasn't been fully prepared, there will be a slight delay before we start 3rd day. As we have limited time, Pakistan needs to bat aggressively and score more runs. I hope the ground will be cleared quickly. A reserve day is needed for test matches.
update: We're back in the game.

The start of the third day's play is being delayed due to rain. Even today, no team seems to be able to take the field. Since the West Indies team is already leading the series 1-0. So if the match is a draw, it is good for them. However, Pakistan's middle order batsmen were batting very well. But their fate is not good.

The weather prediction says that there is a good chance of rain, for today and tomorrow. And given the poor run-off system in West Indian grounds, that means that the entire day's play will be called off even if it rains for a couple of hours. The stadiums in Jamaica and Barbados were not constructed with rain interruptions in mind. At this point, it is difficult to say who is having the advantage. Pakistan is mid-way through their first innings. And given how unpredictable they are, I would not make a comment.

The sun is bright today and hopefully there will be some cricket if it stays the same. However the match is still delayed because of the wet outfield. If it does not rain today, we will surely see some action today in the 3rd day.

From ESPN:-

9.25 am: The start will be delayed. There is an inspection at 9.40 am. So apparently, the ground is still not fully ready. Although the sun is out in full force, like it was on Day 1, and it's a sweltering day so far.

LOL... this was what I was talking about. Even on a sunny day, the match got delayed. The drainage runoff system in West Indian grounds is very poor and this is not the first time that matches are getting delayed due to wet outfield. I don't think that we'll get a result from this match. It is the third day, and the first innings is yet to be completed. The plus point for West Indies is that they managed to get both the in form batsmen out (Babar Azam and Fawad Alam), before they could get to a century.

So how is the weather today ? Can we expect some game today or wet outfield won't allow it ?

Also it was decided yesterday that the play will begin 30 mins earlier today. Who will have an edge in this match, it will be decided on how the both teams resumes after this interval of a day or more.

The Pakistan team is now in trouble again. They lost the fourth wicket for 168 runs. Babar Azam was out for 75 runs. On the other hand, Fawad Alam is now out of the field with injuries. There are two new batsmen now in the crease. It is difficult to say how long they will stay at the crease.
Pakistan team still in good position. The new two batsman hadn't made any mistake yesterday and build up a good partnership. They were like a set batsman in that condition. Although the day one has ended without full 3 session for the low light issue. And the game is delayed today for the rain. I think that Pakistani batting lineup will collapse again on day two. We might see a winner if nothing interrupts in the game on remaining days.

Due to the wet outfit, there is no possibility of playing today. Even if the game is played tomorrow, I think Pakistan will be able to survive for 2 sessions. More important than how many runs they can collect is how long they can survive at the crease. If they lose all their wickets in the first session, then West Indies will have a chance to win this match. And if Pakistan can play the next two sessions, then the match will be a draw.

So how is the weather today ? Can we expect some game today or wet outfield won't allow it ?

It is not at all advisable for a team to expect to be a good team just by performing one site. As you can see in the case of India team, in this team Both the batsman and the bowling site are equally strong. The West Indies are a balanced team between the West Indies and Pakistan as they can perform fairly well on both the bowling and batting sites. Pakistan Tim Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are all down batsmen. So did Pakistan lose the first match only because of batting performance.

Yeah, Pakistan is totally an unpredictable team. With the exception of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, there is no continuity in the performance of any batsman. And the team can't rely on anyone but these two batsmen. Other players are seasonal performers. If luck is good they are able to run. Nevertheless, Pakistan's current position is stable. Looks like they'll collect more than 300.
And how about the West Indies team ? Do you think they are any better team than the Pakistan team ?
Seems like both team are of same nature and both needs to improve a lot on their batting ? In last test match, West Indies only won by 1 wicket and this does not stand them ahead of the opponent. There has to be a winner when you play a 5 days match with low scoring on each side.

If you want to know my opinion, I would say neither party is better. No matter how good the players of a team who have no consistency of performance, they cannot be called a good team. They need to improve not only batting but also bowling. The West Indies bowler took 3 wickets for 2 runs. Now Pakistan has collected 212 runs losing 4 wickets. If the West Indies bowlers had been experienced, Pakistan would have lost all their wickets by now.

West Indies is also not having the best team in Test and like the first match i am also expecting a close encounter and the match depends upon how long the Pakistan batsman can hang in there and how much they are going to score. Pakistan is not having the best bowling line up either but the inexperience of West Indies in the longer format will  cause problem for them.

The second day's match is being delayed due to rain. This is good for both teams. If today's match is not played due to rain, the chances of the match being drawn will increase. Because the performance of the players of both the teams is very irregular. Even after losing 3 wickets for 2 runs, Pakistan is now in a good position. I never thought they would be able to collect so many runs. Similarly, the performance of West Indies players is completely irregular.
A draw match will more favor the West Indies because they already won a test and this will give them a series win. Although its bit early to conclude the winner right now. The news is that there is only a drizzle at the moment, and the chances of whole day wash out is very less.
Lets hope that there is play and the winner is decided on the basis of the performance and not by the weather.

On the second day, no team could enter the field. Basically 90% sure that the match will be a draw. Because not even an innings is over yet. Pakistan will play at least 40 more overs. So now I don't expect to see the result of this match anymore unless a team has a very bad batting disaster.

Day 2 ended due to rain, 3 more days are left. A high chance of the match ending in a draw cannot be ruled out. It is also not certain whether the match on Day 3 will be played without any rain interruption. It is very hard for any team to win this match unless they play exceptionally well.
Rain interruption used to make big changes in the game result. Another thing I see with the game is the West Indies play. West Indies used to give unexpected performance to the top level and used to play the worst at times when cricket enthusiasts expect big from the team.

I was not following cricket that long but having a reserve day when they are playing during these rainy season is a good alternative to make things interesting rather than the match going for a draw. Only during the WTC the ICC wanted a reserve day but during regular series i doubt that the team will allow a reserve day because the tour date will last longer.

Already very few new fans are coming to test cricket due to its duration. Most of the test cricket enthusiasts are middle aged or elderly (mostly retired citizens who can afford to watch matches that stretch for 5 days). If the ICC adds another day, then it will make test cricket even more boring to the ordinary sports fan. The solution is to make pitches which will guarantee some support for the bowlers, and not to conduct bilateral tours in off-season, when rain interruption is more common.

End of Day-1, Pakistan is able to collect 214 by losing 4. A great day for Pakistan. Because they lost 3 wickets in the first 3 overs of the match. And at the end of the day, after 74 overs, they lost 4 wickets and collected 214. Good enough collection. If Pakistan can play well in the first session of the next day, they will undoubtedly be able to collect more than 350.
Their match between west indies and Pakistan cancelled due to the heavy rainfall.  They are already second days and match stumps means match would be cancelled 100 percentage.

In the past there is no cricket scheduled during this time of the month because it will be rain and knowing that the ICC should add a reserve day during these times rather than killing the fun altogether.

Even West Indies will be looking for a draw because they are leading the series and with the weather helping them it is possible that we could see a draw or there is a possibility that we could see a repeat of the last match if there is no further rain interruption.

Lets hope that there is play and the winner is decided on the basis of the performance and not by the weather.
