India won the match thanks to the batting. There were two very important partnerships. The first one was the century stand between Rahul and Rohit, and the second one was the partnership between Bumrah and Shami. The bowlers were not very impressive in the first innings, in which England made a total of close to 400. In the second innings they bowled well, but they had England under pressure thanks to the massive stand for the 9th wicket. Without those extra runs, the match would have ended with a win for England.

The main turning point in India's match win was the partnership of Shami and Bumrah. No one could have imagined such a remarkable partnership in the 9th wicket partnership. Though the Indian bowlers did not do well in the first innings, they surprised everyone in the second innings. It's hard for me to believe that such a batting disaster for the England team could happen at home.

Full credits to the Indian bowlers and they are a force to reckon even though they gave the player of the match to KL Rahul, the match winners were the bowler.
I agree. They should have given that award to Siraj or Shami. Both took many wickets and Shami batted really well towards the end of the 2nd innings.
The Indian tail-enders consistently keep rescuing the Indian team in recent times. The top and middle orders need to learn from their performances.
Siraj or Shami should've been given the Man of the Match. By the time they might've come up with the decisions based on the first innings, if he hasn't scored it India might've not reached 364 runs. This will surely make the second innings more pressured. It is true to see most of the matches won in recent months for India has happened out of the tail enders.
India as a team played very well but, KL Rahul was the one who got India the lead in the first session. If India had scored poorly in the first session then the result of this test match would have been different. I wont deny Siraj and Shami's contribution but I still think India won the match because of the early advantage created by Rahul.

I would say India won the match only for the bowlers. The bowler bowled well. At the same time, the 90 runs collected by Shami and Bumrah in the second innings were very helpful for India. If they could not collect these 90 runs, the result of the match would have been different.

It was a very difficult pitch to bat and that is the reason why I support the Man of the Match prize being awarded to KL Rahul. On the other side, Joe Root also made a century, so it looks like a good batting track on paper. Shami, Siraj and Bumrah got the wickets under conditions that are favorable to them. I don't want to sideline their achievements, but in my opinion Rahul won the match for India with his century knock. England put up a massive total of 391, and if not for Rahul, India would have been in a very bad position.

Congratulations to the Indian cricket team because one of its rivals has snatched a full match win. However, it was reasonable to give the man of the match to Mohammad Siraj instead of Rahul. 9 wickets in a Test is a huge achievement 'So I think it makes sense to give the man of the match to Mohammad Siraj instead of Rahul.
Mohammed Siraj was the find of the series when they toured Australia and if not for the injures for other players we will not see him playing here which is an incredible feat because he has placed a spot in this highly competitive team and all the bowlers are complimenting each other and creating a potent bowling unit to face any team outside of the subcontinent.

After the end of day four England was still favourite in the game.
I disagree. Draw was the most favorable outcome after Day 4. Also, England got lucky thanks to rain interference in the 1st test which is why I am not surprised by them getting decimated by India in the 2nd test.

India won the game! Anyone expected it? The batting pitch turned good for bowlers in the final two days. It was also mentioned in the pitch report that the pitch will be favourable for blowers on day 4th and 5th. However, I thought it would end as draw, but England batted very badly on day 5. They should have played with more patience. Odds and predictions are wrong here. After the end of day four England was still favourite in the game.

The bowlers didn't got any additional support from the pitch. I couldn't notice any substantial bounce or seam movement from any of the bowlers. The England batsmen were out of form and that was the reason for their batting collapse. Even in the first innings, if you take Joe Root's innings away, almost none of the other players contributed with the bat. And in the second innings it got worse, since Root also fell before he could get to the half-century mark. The Indian pacers bowled with a lot of discipline, and the credit should go to them.

The odds for India winning the match was well over 2.4 and i thought they would be a draw but the Indian tail end and the bowlers surprised everyone as this should be their biggest win in England. I thought India would have won the first match if not for the weather delays and i thought this match would end up in a draw.

Jos Buttler and Ollie Robinson have built a useful partnership when the team needs it. Buttler made 25 off 94 balls. Now they need to bat to draw the match. The match will be a draw if the pair can survive a few more overs. I'm still hoping for a draw.
The partnership is broken now. Jasprit Bumrah got the wicket of Ollie Robinson. 9 overs remain and India needs to take another two wickets. Oh.. just now Jos Buttler was nabbed by Mohammed Siraj. That means India is just one wicket away from victory. Really pathetic performance from the England batsmen. After Joe Root got out, none of the other batsmen even managed to put any decent fight. And the Indian pacers were simply outstanding. Everyone of them contributed with frequent strikes.

In today's Test match, if India can take a fast wicket, they can win, but from my point of view, it seems that this match will also be a tie. After Joe Root was out, England's batting came to an end . If the rest can play up to 30 overs, then this Test match is on the way to a draw again.

Edit: Joe Root gone!

This can be a game changer. Joe Root is like the only English batsman who was in form and now he's gone. And more than 30 overs remain for today, with India 5 wickets away from a win. Now they are down to the last recognized batting pair (Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali, and both of them are out of form). I believe there is enough time for Indians to get the remaining 5 wickets, given the fact that apart from Sam Curran, the England lower order is mostly comprised of genuine tailenders.

I am shocked. What the heck is going on? Shami and Bumrah scored 90 runs between them and were not out until the end. Horrible bowling by England. Also, the Indian bowlers are dismantling the England batting line-up quickly.

Root is the only one that they can count on at this point. If he gets out, the chances of India winning will rise drastically. If not, it will probably end as a draw as I mentioned in my previous posts.
With Shami and Bumrah batting nicely, India declared with a healthy lead. It was embarrassing for English cricket to fail to break Bumrah and Shami's partnership & India to declare it the most embarrassing situation. England has already lost four wickets, Root is mostly surviving at the moment. Not sure which result, maybe a draw or a win for the Indians.

Edit: Joe Root gone!

Bloody hell

England at 64/4 and its tea... We still have 38 overs to go but let's round it up this to 30-32 overs because of bad lights at the end of the day.

Chances of draw are high due to Root presence at the crease but anything is possible here folks, who knows if he gets knocked out. In brutal world i would prefer him to watch his comrades to fell on the other end one by one and let him go not out.. hehehe
Root is back home and England lost their 5th wicket. I cannot believe what i am watching. England is struggling here and India have more than 35 overs left and they just need to pick 5 more wickets and India is having advantage and it is a match they can win now  Undecided.

I thought the pitch has gone flat and England could easily bat throughout and end up as a draw, but Indian bowlers are ripping through the England batting line up.

The England team is not on track. I think the players have become a bit weak mentally when players like Shami and Bumrah have a 90-run partnership against them and remain unbeaten in the end. Joe Root, the last hope for England, is still on the field. England will lose this match if he is out. The batsmen did not play well in the first innings.
