I don't think that India will be able to tour South Africa. The COVID cases are exploding there and yesterday they reported more than 16,000 cases. One week ago, this was in the 2,000-3,000 range. Omicron is destroying South Africa, and I am sure that the situation will get worse in the coming days. I don't know what was Jay Shah smoking when he announced the tour. Even if the tour goes ahead as planned, many of the senior players are going to pull out. And no sporting activity is happening in RSA right now. Everything is stopped.

Because the Indian batsmen are the best, when it comes to the handling of spin bowling.
Those days are gone when Indian batter used to tackle likes of Warne and Murli with a toothpick. This current lot of Indian team is not equipped to play spin except few exceptions, they are still very good compared to other countries tho but previous Indian team which includes Sachin-Sehwag-Ganguly-Dravid-Laxman-Yuvi-Gambhir etc were exceptional players of spin.

Just imagine if opposition team had a equally capable spinners like Ashwin-Jadeja-Axar or even batting against this trio.

~snip~

I am expecting the match to be over by tomorrow unless the Indian players wanted to bat for a much longer period of time.
Happy for Ajaz Patel but equally disappointing that his team marked the lowest total against Indians at the same match.

Good news, its official.

This series might get cancelled considering the present pandemic situation is SA. NZ-IND test series is completely one-sided now with India having a lead of 332 it won't be possible for NZ to chase a target which I think will be over 400 runs. Indian bowlers were very efficient as they wiped out NZ for just 62.

Double ton for Mayank? He likes to score big when he's on song. Already 2 double tons under his belt, for opening slot competition is becoming headache for the selectors.
Mayank Agarwal is the only player who was able to play well in this pitch while all of the other batsman struggled and it is a spin wicket and full credits to Ajaz Patel for creating history by becoming the third player to take 10 wickets in a match and he basically took the wickets for New Zealand but he bowled in a ground that it is his home town as Ajaz Patel is born in Mumbai but that could not help New Zealand as they were all out for double digits.

I am expecting the match to be over by tomorrow unless the Indian players wanted to bat for a much longer period of time.
Very exciting end of second day as Ajaz Patel creating history and just after few overs we have another milestone by Indian bowling attack with restrict to New Zealand for 62 runs which is low by any team in India. Now after this clearly they are going to win this match and series with very good way after having draw in first test match at Kanpur which was also very controlled by Indian bowling line but sadly end in draw just because of bad light.
In other test match Bangladesh vs Pakistan rain dominate in first day of play with just 57 overs possible and Pakistan having some good score on board after losing both openers and having Babar and Azhar on cease.

BTW, the first match wasn't drawn for the rules of ICC only. India had huge opportunity to win the match but their bowlers were unable to take the last wicket.
I disagree. If there was no draw result in test cricket, we would clearly obtained a result(India winning in this case). India literally wrapped up the match, but these stupid archaic rules impeded their win.

Test matches clearly need a Duckworth Lewis type of system in order to minimise draws. Draw result should only be applied in the test format in specific situations(Weather related issues etc).

Ajaz Patel repeated the history after 22 years and it will always be remembered. But New Zealand players batted pathetically today. NZ will surely loss this match. It doesn't feel good when a player make a record and loss the match. BTW, the first match wasn't drawn for the rules of ICC only. If Ajaz Patel can take 10 wickets on this surface then surely Indian Spinners can do much better, and they have done with their magical spells and have some good support from pacer Mohammad Siraj; New Zealand having some good time in record books first with third person in test history who claim 10 wickets in an inning of test match and after this now bowled out for just 62 runs which is the lowest by any visitor on Indian soil.

Now this test match is going to end on third day because India already having 322 plus lead, and they need only very few more runs on this surface where ball is unplayable for kiwis, so good win for India against WTC winners.
Now after this test they are heading for South Africa in crucial situation but still BCCI having good faith in relationship with South African Cricket Board, let's watch what happen.

Ajaz Patel bowled brilliantly and he deserved the 10 wicket haul. The manner in which he bamboozled batsmen like Pujara, Ashwin etc was magnificent. It's been a long time since someone claimed 10 wickets in a Cricket match.
but the actual result should have been 2:0 thanks to stupid ICC rules.

This will be NZ lowest score in an innings AFAIK.

Nope. The lowest score is 26 against England in 1955 (second innings of Auckland test). England fast bowlers (Frank Tyson and Brian Statham) destroyed the top order and then medium pacer Bob Appleyard cleaned up the lower order and tail. Anyway, 62 is the lowest test total by any team against India. Previously the lowest total by New Zealand against India was 94 (first innings of the Hamilton test, 2002). And the fun fact is that New Zealand still won that test, by 4 wickets (target was 160 in the second innings).

It is really a great feeling for a bowler to pick up all the ten wickets in an innings and Ajaz Patel will be very happy to be able to achieve that. But the problem is New Zealand getting all out for only 62 runs. At the end of day two, it's already the third innings of the match and India already has the 332 runs lead. I am sure that they are going to post a massive total and try to get the win.

Two stunning performances on second day of second test. First Ajaz Patel made a historic record by taking all 10 wickets in a single innings. Right after that there is stunning bowling performance from Indian bowlers that restricted whole NZ team in two figures. This will be NZ lowest score in an innings AFAIK.

Patel brillent bowling was ruined by NZ batting. Don't know what happen to them to bowl out at such low score.  Anyways India is very much favorite now, they are 325 runs ahead and still 10 wickets in hands. They can easily give target of 500 runs. Never knew about this ICC rule of 2-0

Ajaz is originally from Mumbai, so he is very familiar with the ground conditions at the Wankhede Stadium. But I never expected him to perform like this against the Indians. Because the Indian batsmen are the best, when it comes to the handling of spin bowling. Anyway, the match is firmly within India's grasp. Unless there is a miracle, New Zealand is going down by a huge margin. Their batting performance was just pathetic. Kyle Jamieson top-scored with 17, as they were bundled out in just 28 overs.
For Ajaz Patel, it is history as he picks up all 10 wickets in one innings. This is an amazing achievement for such a young bowler. Mumbai was his birthplace, and he carried a dream to play there, and now that dream has now become history. There was a lot of action on Day 2 in Mumbai and India remain on top. I really enjoyed today's test match.  The better thing is that India comfortably scored 69 without losing after wrapping up New Zealand for 62 runs.

Wow 8 wicket for Ajaz Patel! Hope he gets the 10 wickets, would be perfect homecoming gift for this Mumbai turned Kiwi's boy.

He did it, 10 wickets for Ajaz Patel. It was Anil Kumbli against Pakistan and now an Indian born NZ player did that against India. But what a bad performance from NZ batsman, now clearly India are in full control of this match. Seems like all hard work of Patel will be in vain.

So far 1 man show from the both team. Ajaz for NZ and Mayank for India, Axar also chipped in..

320 runs on the scoreboard looks enough, may be 350 ish? The kind of turn Ajaz generated so far this doesn't look easy pitch to bat on for sure.

------

9th wicket for Ajaz  Cheesy

------
1. Jim Laker
2. Anil Kumble

Looks like Ajaz Patel may get 10-wicket haul. Right now he has figures of 108/7, and he has taken all the wickets to fall so far. On the other hand, William Somerville looks pathetic and is going at a rate of almost 5 runs per over without any success. Axar Patel is once again cementing his position as the all rounder, and he looks set to score another half-century. Tim Southee and Kyle Jamieson have bowled 34 overs between them. They have been economical, but so far failed to take any wickets.

Bangladesh are happy to start there 2nd test with Shakib one of there vital player. During the first session Bangladesh are looking very aggressive, they are in desperate search of win. Both openers are gone which is what Bangladesh want, Pakistan still in good position as they areb78/2.

India can score 350 runs from this position which IMO are sufficient for there bowlers to defend. Lyer wasnt able to continue his brillent form which he gained from 1st test match. Kohli harsh days are still not over, he was rested for first test but still wasnt able to score any run in first inning along with pujara. Lets wait for second innings before drawing final conclusion.

Well.. we can't expect Iyer (Shreyas in this case) to score a century everytime. The pitch seems to be very conductive to batting and the pacers are not getting any support. It is actually ruining Jamieson's incredible bowling average (before the start of this match, it stood at 15.05 per wicket). Tim Southee was economical, but he couldn't get any wickets this time. And still surprised with the inclusion of William Somerville. He looked out of sorts in the first test and still he was picked over Santner. What happened to Santner? Is he injured?

Indian pitches are only for batsmen they rarely left anything for bowlers on the pitch. So it's nothing surprising that pacers are not getting any support on the pitch. Still NZ bowlers have done good job. I checked but there is no news of Santner injury. He may be given some rest, just my guess.
