I'm not sure but I guess he knows what's his priorities.

His channel is doing good, he's future commentator and it seems he's going to be very likable and famous if he join the commentary box. His cricketing knowledge is amazing and we need such commentators especially from India because majority of our commentators are mediocre except Harsha (Dinesh Kartik started very well tho).

How much these guys earn from the job as commentators? I guess the pay level will be much lower than what they would earn from the IPL. And for Ashwin, he still goes for well over $1 million a year in the IPL auctions. So I don't think that he has any immediate plan to take retirement from the game and concentrate on the commentator job. I agree with you on the mediocre quality of Indian commentators. Sanjay Manjrekar is a perfect example. It surprises me that this guy is not yet fired by his employer.

@Vishnu.Reang I wouldn’t be surprised if IPL commentators are over paid, because if they don’t do good commentary then the match will seem dull to viewers who’re watching it at home. Furthermore even if they remove him then how many quality replacements do you think they have?, and the answer is quite simple i.e. they don’t have many options but that could all change if few quality commentators became available.

I highly doubt that if that's the case. Like i mentioned BCCI encourage Test specialists players to feature in the county which include many senior players Ashwin, Ishant, Rahane and new guys Hanuma, Prithvi etc. I'm yet to hear any incident where BCCI stopping players, in fact in my recent memory they even named 6-7 players for the County before the WTC finals but it got cancelled due to unknown reasons. It all comes down to individuals, if players are featuring in all 3 formats then ofc there is no chance.

Playing in different conditions is good. But a few years back, there was an initiative to prepare some of the domestic grounds to be more supportive to pace bowling, similar to the SENA ground conditions. After one or two years, this initiative was silently rolled back. One rumor that I heard was domestic teams are heavily dependent on spinners and they refused to play on surfaces that are supportive to pacers. It is not the bowlers who suffer from the lack of such grounds in India. India is producing good pace bowlers. But is it the batsmen who suffer from the lack of exposure to such conditions.
Like you said " Rumor" and its silly one IMO. You and me both know that some pitches are pace friendly but situation is bad in context of Fast pitches if we look at overall situation in India. Not every team will get chance to bat on such pitches, may be 1-2 teams in every season and majority of our pitches are spin wickets, no shame on accepting this fact although its another discussion that why our domestic arena stopped producing quality wrist spinners in recent time.

^^ Atleast Ashwin voluntary opted to play in the county and performed well against Somerset, he ended up with 7 wickets in the match, more importantly he got game practice which was necessary. Other players should have take a cue from the Ashwin especially Bumrah, Rahane, Vihari and Pujara... But NO.
I am watching the youtube channel of Ashwin and he usually updates everything that is revolving around him but i am not sure about how Ashwin could voluntarily opt to play in a county game and what is the selection procedure and not sure why others opted out or whether they will get selected to play for the county. If they opted out then they are in a vacation as they only have a warm up match and the series starts on August 4.

Suresh Raina just started a huge controversy in Chennai, during the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL). He casually said that he is a Brahmin, and therefore he could adjust in a better way with the Chennai Super Kings and it's players/staff. Twitter users from Tamil Nadu were furious, given the widespread hatred against the Brahmin community in that state. IMO, there was no need to create such controversy over a casual comment. CSK is owned by a Brahmin and a majority of the Tamil players from that state are Brahmins. Raina would have got the impression that Chennai is a Brahmin dominated city.

Yes, but only for T-20 Franchise type leagues.

No BCCI doesn't have much say if players want to play in County (if they are free). In fact BCCI encourage players to visit there and this tradition is at least 50-70 years old.

Even for county cricket, getting the NOC from the BCCI has been a hassle these days. They believe that if the Indian players play in foreign domestic competitions, then their value will get diluted. And I can't really blame them. These Indian players hardly ever play in the Indian domestic competition. So the BCCI may not be happy when they apply for county stints. BTW, the last time India had a domestic 4-day competition was in 2019. After that, the Ranji trophy was cancelled for two successive years because of CoVID 19.

BTW, Hanuma Vihari played 3 first class matches for Warwickshire to prepare himself for the WTC finals. But unfortunately for him, he was not included in the playing XI.
I didn't know about him, he was not part of the IPL too so guess he went to county.

I don't have the exact information but from what I have learned about Indian Cricket, they don't allow all the players to participate in the foreign leagues, because they believe the players are already busy enough to play for other franchises. That's why we don't see Indian players in BBL or other top leagues.

Now coming back to county cricket, it might be possible that the BCCI didn't grant other players to play the county cricket and Ashwin was allowed because he only takes part in test cricket so they can allow him to work on his skills while Bumrah and other players play in other formats too.

They can always give the excuse that the calendar is already packed, or they can say that the bubble life is taking its toll. Anyway, most of these players are like permanent fixtures of the test playing XI, so they don't need to worry about getting dropped (unless Kohli is replaced as the captain) irrespective of their performance during the test matches. Well, they clearly stated that there would be no strict bio bubble for the series. Worst case scenario, what would happen if players get infected with the covid because they would go out sometimes as there is no bio secure protocol.  Fingers cross, hope everything goes well.

Players got infected even with the strict bio-bubble during the IPL. So you can imagine what would be the case in case the restrictions are not there. And a few days before testing positive, Rishabh Pant had posted pictures of him at the Wimbledon, without any social distancing or mask. Indian players, as usual is taking the England tour as a family vacation and it can be seen from their performance as well.

ECB saying that you have to live with the covid and they are not going to force English players in bio bubbles any more so i don't think they are in mood of cancelling the tour, even remotely. They quickly changed their full squad against the Pakistan when their players got infected in recent ODI series, this tells you their approach. On the other hand if more Indian players tests positive then situation could get bit tricky as all back up players are playing in the Sri Lanka.

@JSRAW I feel that ECB is setting a correct example as we can no longer cancel matches or events because of covid, we need to live with it and take proper precautions.

Furthermore if more player’s test positive then team India will have to field player’s who haven’t played international cricket, or withdraw their player’s from Srilanka and I hope it doesn’t come to that because I don’t want anyone to get covid.

One bad news coming from England. Rishab Pant and one staff member Dayananda Garani tested positive. They are in isolation along with Back up Wicket keeper Saha, one young net bowler (not verified)and bowling coach Bharat Arun as 3 of them were in contact with Dayanand Garani (throwdown specialist).

Pant, throwdown specialist test positive for Covid-19

This is not a good sign. It looks like the COVID situation in England is once again worsening. I am quite surprised, because they have achieved more than 60% vaccination. The Delta variant seems to be resistant to the vaccines to some degree, and that is probably causing the spike in England. But my biggest worry is that once again the matches will be called off and we will be having a situation similar to what happened in 2020. Already many of the bilateral series have been postponed. If there is any more disruption, then these matches will be called off.

Why should the fans turn against him? There is no doubt that the BCB has unfairly targeted their best player. Due to ego issues, the BCB bosses have targeted Shakib whenever they got a chance to do that. They have withheld his NOC, and have taken disciplinary actions without any basis. If he wanted, then he could have shifted to another country, and earned a lot more money. Anyway, his hot headed nature is not helping this either. Recently he created a lot of controversy during one of the Dhaka Premier Division Twenty20 matches.
I am not sure about the reason when they started the issue with BCB and Shakib Al Hasan but i came to know when he was banned about a charge a few years ago and he might not be a good character in their books because of his personality and and not listening to them and he is getting offers from other franchise boards when they are having matches and may be that is the reason

I saw the news. But how many players have not been positive so far has not been confirmed yet. Those who interact with these two players have been instructed to stay in isolation for 3 days. It would be sad for India if more players were affected.
