Last month they chased down the mammoth target of 390+ against the Bangladesh (In Bangladesh on turning track) so I won't count Windies out of the game, yet. Who knows if Double centurion Kyle Mayers pull something out from his hat again or may be someone else. Result could go anywhere, all we need some sort of fightback from the players and voila another fine test result.

Sri Lanka has some very good spinners so Idon't think that there is much of a chance of a West Indies win. Also, John Campbell got out yesterday and therefore they need to survive 90 overs today with just 9 wickets in hand. The track is offering lots of support for the spinners, and Sri Lankan spinners seems to be in good form - especially Lasith Embuldeniya and Dhananjaya de Silva.
The West Indies have no chance of winning. Maybe West Indies will lose, otherwise, the match will be a draw. I think the West Indies players want to draw the match. Because if they bat to win the match at such a huge target, they will lose wickets quickly and lose.

West Indies were in such a good position. In the first innings, they had a lead of 102 runs. But then the bowlers appeared quite tired when they asked Sri Lanka to follow on.
There was no follow on in the match, West Indies lost the momentum when Sri Lanka came to bat in the third innings of the match and i was surprised to see that Sri Lanka was able to counter the West Indies bowlers and was able to score 476
runs and now West Indies is in the back foot as they have a mountain of runs to win from this situation and they might go for a draw and the match depends upon how Sri Lanka bowlers attack with a large total on board.

See how we can't rely on the WI, SL bounced back strong in the match and were at very good odds when the WI had a lead at the end of day 2. The match has turned around in SL favour and now the WI will need to survive on the last day if they want to get a draw as I can't see them scoring 341 runs to win with just 9 wickets in hand.

First it was Lahiru Thirimanne and Oshada Fernando who put up a good partnership, and later Pathum Nissanka and Niroshan Dickwella managed to put up a partnership to take Sri Lanka to such a massive total (476). Perhaps things would have been different if they had not asked Sri Lanka to follow on.

The WI are in a strong position to win the first test match against SL after bowling SL out for 169 runs, Holder had a great performance taking 5 wickets. Lahiru Thirimanne tried he's best for SL but there was no one to stay with him to form decent sized partnerships which lead to SL down fall. I'm not going to say the WI are going to win because they are too unpredictable even when in strong winning positions.

At the end of second day, West Indies have made 268/8, and they are leading by 99 runs. The advantage is with West Indies and they are likely to extend the lead to 100 plus during the third day. However, Sri Lanka still has a remote chance left in this match. If they make a total of 250-300, then it can be challenging for West Indies to chase during the 4th innings. Among the West Indian batsmen, only Rahkeem Cornwall managed to hit a score above 50.

West Indies is leading by 99 runs in the match and they still have 3 wickets left and they are in a good position to win the match. Sri Lanka is disappointing with the performance in the past few matches and they are continuing the same in the Test series as well. There is plenty of time left for this match and the match depends upon how Sri Lanka scores in the second innings.

Rashid Khan was not in the team in the first Test and they lost the match and it was not even a tight contest and if PSL messed things up with the pandemic protocol then Rashid Khan will be playing for the franchise T20 league and Afghanistan would have lost the match and the series to Zimbabwe. I do think that Zimbabwe was really unlucky that the PSL was stopped midway and so is the reason Rashid Khan is back in the team  Cheesy.

First of all, teams should not be overdependent on a single player. And secondly, Afghanistan plays a maximum of one or two tests per year. If Rashid can't participate in these tests, then it is going to effect them very negatively. Is franchise league cricket more important than a test match? And that too for Afghanistan, which gets to play a test match only once or twice in a year.

Rashid was back in the team and that is the sole reason they won the match. He picked up 11 wickets (with 7 in the second innings). The other bowlers were really pathetic. Amir Hamza bowled 66 overs and took just 4 wickets after conceding 177 runs. On the other hand, Rashid bowled an unbelievable 99.1 overs in a single match, and picked up 11 wickets for 275 runs.

May be but i do not think 35 runs could have made any difference, i did not watch the match no the highlights, i was just following the scoreboard as i placed a bet on Afghanistan to win when i saw Rashid Khan is back in the team .

One of the reason teams never force follow on to opposition team nowadays. It could backfire anytime, as much as i admire brave effort of Afghan team but they got bit lucky here. 50-80 more runs and zim could have been walked out with the draw and winning the series (only 15ish overs were left to the stumps). It was good game overall and Zimbabwe can also take few positive from this game.
Zimbabwe played well in the second innings and i was expecting Rashid Khan to rip them away in the second innings as they are playing in the UAE and the pitch to help the spinners but Sean Williams and Donald Tiripano delayed things as best as they can but the win was inevitable even if they scored 50 runs more, we could have seen a T20 kind of striking from the Afghan players Cheesy .

If Zimbabwe had managed to score another 30-35 runs, then it would have got really interesting. Because the Afghan batsmen really struggled during the last innings. A few more runs by the Zimbabwean tail enders could have made the difference. Anyway, all credit to Afghanistan for registering another test win.

I donot think an extra 30 to 35 runs would have done anything different. Afganistan would have easily won this test match without any problem. They are still inconsistent but it can be easily taken care of with experience. They should be given more opportunities to play with big teams. Great bowling by Rashid Khan, this guys also created a record by bowling the most number of overs in a single test.

Another 50 runs could have made the contest 50/50. Because Afghanistan lost 4 important wickets while chasing the target of 108 runs. If the target was in the 150-160 range, then the batsmen could have been under much more pressure. Not saying that Zimbabwe could have won the match if that was the case, but the contest would have been much more tighter. Despite the big scores by Hashmatullah Shahidi and Asghar Afghan during the first innings, Afghan batting lineup looks very brittle for me.

Sean Williams and Donald Tiripano played an exceptional innings and Donald Tiripano missed out his century by just 5 runs and it was unfortunate as he could have reached that milestone and now they are all out for 365 runs and have a lead of just 107 runs which i think Afghanistan can score easily and there is plenty of time left for them to reach that score.

They managed a lead of more than 100 runs, but Afghanistan won the match eventually by 6 wickets. If Zimbabwe had managed to score another 30-35 runs, then it would have got really interesting. The partnership between Sean Williams and Donald Tiripano has added 124 runs till now, and the Afghanistan bowlers are looking clueless (even the much renowned Rashid Khan). If Zimbabwe could add another 100 runs, then once again the match will become competitive. Afghanistan is well known for their batting collapses and I don't expect anything different this time. Also, only 90 overs are remaining.. so there is a chance for a draw as well.

To be honest all the pressure is now on Afghanistan because Zimbabwe now have a lead even though it is only 8 runs but Afghanistan need to get these last 3 wickets quickly if they want to win the match. Zimbabwe can just take their time as a draw would see them win the series so now the pressure is on Afghanistan to get these last 3 wickets and then go on to win the match. Its been a good fight back from Zimbabwe thanks to Williams and Triipano partnership.
