If rain spoil the 5th day /Indian batting is not expecting another collapse  Undecided and  game/series ends up with the 1-1 draw then do you think Rahane is going to call out Australian team and share trophy with them, just for photo-session similar to Afghanistan? it was hard fought series so i wouldn't mind if he does that.

He's goody good guy so who knows.. ?
I am really in love with this test as its beauty of cricket we have two top ranked teams in ground and both fighting hard with all 3 options wide open for both teams even draw is hot favourite but its very interesting end of this series as no one was expecting result like this from this Indian team without too many players Rahane deserve some better respect as he done great job in this all without Kohli 1 - 1 is surely in way of India as most predictions was 4 - 0 or 3 - 0.

There's been some scattered showers in and around Brisbane this evening and will probably continue until around midnight. If the covers come off first thing I the morning, then it'll be a full day of play (i.e. with some determination India will play hard and win)

If the covers stay on, or play is interrupted, then India will loose it's rhythm and will limp towards a draw.

There is a 99% chance of a draw, because rain interruption is expected for tomorrow and the target is above 300. And from what I have seen today, both the Indian openers are playing very cautiously rather than going for the big shots. That is an indication that they are also targeting for a draw. Unless the Australian pacers can get some quick wickets, there is no chance of a different outcome.

Considering the Gabba pitch on last day and its history chasing is not possible. So, India unlikely to win from here. Now if it Rains good for India only atleast they anyways will want draw only so this will just help them. Now if Rain does not interrupt chances of OZ winnings increases and might not India will be able to survive the whole last day though we have Rahane, Pujara and few more who can stay on pitch but just 1 bad shot and leads to wicket.

I also think Rahane will share the trophy with Australia. This series was very challenging for Rahane. Rahane has led the Indian team very well in the last 3 matches after the batting disaster in the first match. And in the next two matches, they did not lose. And the last match also seems to be heading towards a draw. The match is expected to be a draw if there is no batting disaster like in the first Test

Starc/Cummins are champion bowlers, yes Starc didn't get wickets but he was unlucky on many occasion. One good spell of Starc/Cummins could change everything and we can't rule out 4th inning chase factor. I would say its 55%-45% chance in favor of Australia.
India played well apart from the first Test and with the second innings from the first Test is still fresh in memory anything is possible as Australia is having the same bowling line up and weather will be an important factor as well. If there is too much breeze in the morning the ball will move in the air and there are cracks in the pitch which will make batting difficult.

I still hope for a draw rather than a win and the two players who will try for the win is Rohit Sharma and Pant as they have the capability to score at a healthy strike rate.

The Indian openers have been disappointing through out this series which is why this is a good chance to prove themselves by putting less pressure on the middle and lower order.

I don't think the Indian team would want to take a risk and try to win this one by treating this as an ODI. Instead, they probably will try to save their wickets and only score now and then which is why a draw seems more likely.

Na bhai, i wouldn't count them out at any case. Starc/Cummins are champion bowlers, yes Starc didn't get wickets but he was unlucky on many occasion. If this time Rohit gets a soft dismissal then he deserve full on MC, BC including his fans hehe.  Grin Tongue

And Wicket...

247/8... 280 lead

I can agree to some extent as far as Pat Cummins is concerned. He picked up wickets, although after conceding a lot of runs. But Starc looked out of form ever since the start of the series. The only consistent bowler was Josh Hazlewood, and he alone can't guarantee a win for Australia. Anyway, now the lead has grown to 294. Anything above 300 would be tough for India.

@bryant.coleman Australia have set a decent total of 328 runs for India to chase on the final day, and the remaining overs were called off due to rains. Furthermore do you’ll think that team India will want to chase this target down tomorrow, or they’ll play it safe and opt for a draw?.

^^ Game is very much open for both the teams, anything could happen from here, all 3 results are on the card. Having said that Australia do have slight advantage as ball turning for spinners and some uneven bounce could come into play due to cracks, its already happening.

And Smith gone..

196/5 and lead is 229 runs

No total can be considered as safe for Australia, because of the pathetic state of their bowling attack. Starc/Cummins have failed to take wickets and even Nathan Lyon has been expensive. Josh Hazlewood is the only bowler who has taken wickets regularly. Even if they ends up with a lead of above 300, India would be fancying their chances, especially after what happened in the last match.

Australia leads by 182 runs, with 6 wickets remaining. Two sessions of play remain for today, but I am not sure in reality how many overs of play will be possible. Rains are predicted for today as well. Also, Australia has lost their entire top order, and the last recognized batting pair is at the crease now (Cameron Green and Steven Smith). Actually the chances of India winning the match appear to be bright.

This series need a documentary and 5 match series from now on..
+1

There has been enough drama as well as heroics in this series for a documentary. It has been a long time that Test matches have been so exciting. Not just that, the grit and resilience shown by the Indian team are quite an uplifting story amid the pandemic.

The Australian team too needs to be acknowledged for what they are. Never relenting and always trying to destroy the opponents. That explains the frustration that they have gone through when not being able to follow through and dominate. The bad blood in the media notwithstanding, India and Australia together really define two very different brands of cricket characteristic of their different hemispheres. These two teams are essentially saving and growing cricket.
True, perfect advertisement of the Test cricket. No one giving an inch to their opponent, every time it look liked that one team dominating other, opposition out of nowhere pulling rabbit out of a hat. We need more series like these where visiting teams showing characters and fighting hard because in recent time no team is considered strong visitor.

Debatable but somehow i feel that Kohli's departure was blessing in disguise. Alpha male is out and every one taking responsibility and rising to the occasion.

It will be interesting to see what Australia do today as we saw in the last test match 4 sessions was not enough to bowl India out so what will Paine do this time? Australia will need at least 350+ runs if they want to win but also need enough time to try and bowl India out so do they play like a T20 and try and score as many runs in the first session but even then I can't see Australia scoring 300 runs in the first session but maybe they need to bat two sessions and then put India in to bat. Also the weather could play a role in this match so its going to be an interesting end to the series.

If Sri Lanka had a lead over 150 runs then the match would be interesting as they picked 3 wickets already.
If Sri Lanka played a decent game in the first innings the match would have being interesting but it is too late as they just need 36 more runs to win even though they picked 3 early wickets.

India is riding high in the final Test and i wished Ashwin was in the team just to respond to Paine as he was challenging him to come to Brisbane so that they could hurt him and easily defeat India  Cheesy. Australia will try to score runs quickly and if India is able to pick some early wickets then they could have an upper hand in the match.

Seems they understood their mistakes and learnt a lot from their first innings and as a result played well in second innings and made 359 as against 135 in first innings.
They should have calculated all these before the series started so that they could have a fighting chance Grin. I am not denying the fact that Sri Lanka tried to play for a longer time but they conceded a big lead as they played really bad, may be because the wicket was aiding the bowlers and once the pitch settled down the batting became easy.

If Sri Lanka had a lead over 150 runs then the match would be interesting as they picked 3 wickets already.

Seems they understood their mistakes and learnt a lot from their first innings and as a result played well in second innings and made 359 as against 135 in first innings. Though England massive score of 421 in first innings have put them in driver’s seat and though they lost 3 wickets for just 38 in second innings still they only now require 36 runs to win the match. Sri Lanka would realize that though they played well in second innings and bowled well in second innings but each session for them is very important and losing couple of session initially in the test match can actually cost them the test match even if they play well in the end.

Sri Lanka collapsed from 5/291 to 359 all out. They lost 5 of their last wickets for just 68 runs. They had the perfect chance of setting up a challenging target for England, but the lower order collapse destroyed those hopes. There is hardly any take-aways for Sri Lanka from this match, apart from the good knocks by Lahiru Thirimanne and Angelo Mathews. They need to do much better, if they want to beat England in the remaining matches.

Sri Lanka was completely shattered in the first innings but returned to form in the second innings. The openers did not play well in the first innings but they played well enough in the second innings. Lahiru Thirimanne is still unbeaten, he has scored 76 runs off 189 balls. Great innings. But Kushal Mendis is out of form in both innings. I want to see a century from Lahiru Thirimanne tomorrow

Don't even remind me how fucking shit SL played in 1st inning, it was look like they were not playing test match but T20 and playing very risky shot even without settling.

So impressed by Sundar & Thakur watching them batting as if they were only the pillars and could save India which they actually proved it. I was depending on Rahane and Pujara today if any 1 could stay for long could help India to reach near OZ score but it was somebody else only who saved India to give big lead to OZ. Day Definitely belongs to India today and considering the team has changed a lot from the start of the test match due to injuries, India would be happy to play for draw as its win for them even in draw with new set of players they are playing this series.

Yup. Actually no one expected these two to bat so well. They treated Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins with absolute disdain, and only Josh Hazlewood looked to be in some sort of form. But the Indian team needs to remain cautious. Still two days remain and the game can change at any point. Tomorrow the Indian bowlers need to make sure that they don't give away too many easy runs.
