Carson Wentz has been traded to the Colts for a third and a conditional second that could turn into a first

That sounds a bit cheap, doesn't it? Although I haven't really followed Wentz lately, must have deteriorated since 2017. But then why would Colts take on his massive (IIRC) contract.

Also who's gonna be Eagles QB now? Hurts, whom they benched during the WFT game for some inexplicable reason... or the guy they replaced him with, whose name I can't even recall or be bothered to look up. Hard to believe Eagles won the Super Bowl just 3 years ago.

I am terrible at Fantasy Football!!!
Carson Wentz has been traded to the Colts for a third and a conditional second that could turn into a first, the move seems reasonable and to me is a win-win for everyone involved, the Eagles needed to get rid of Wentz as it was obvious the player was not happy there, its contract was too big and the fans loved more the backup that brought them a SB win, the Colts on the other hand needed a QB, with Rivers retirement they only had Brissett which was not good enough if we compare him to the rest of the roster, the Colts are a good team and they have a lot of cap space so they are hoping to reignite the career of Wentz, and for Wentz this is the perfect spot to land, he is in a playoff team with a coach that knows him and that got the most out of his skill set when he was with the Eagles.

And wtf is their version of the extra point? 1vs1 and no pressure on the QB?  Cheesy

QB has a time limit to throw - 3 seconds for a 2 point conversion (from the 5 yard line) and 5 seconds for 1 point (from 10 yards). I feel like I know too much about this already, not a good sign.

not sure how and where you can watch the games though...

I think it's on twitch, which is a...

Big Pass.

for me too LOL

Can't wait for the start of the new season of NFL. I have an empty feeling inside me when I can't watch these guys playing every week. I spent my christmas night watching football as well this year  Grin

While we are talking about EFL and XFL, did anyone watch the opening week of FCF (Fan Controlled Football) yesterday?

Not sure if this qualifies as football but apparently it's a thing, some sort of backyard football with weird rules and stuff.

They play 7 vs 7 on a 50-yard field, there's draft every week and only 4 teams, fans can vote on plays being called, there are bodycams, etc.

Here's FCF explained, their official website, and highlights from the Beasts vs. Zappers game (check out the opening drive).  Grin

Week 2 is next Saturday, not sure how and where you can watch the games though...probably worth checking if you are super drunk and need something to watch while you pass out.

Watched it, looks like flag football to me.

Your choice, I'd be interested in the info either way but I would think a separate thread would make it easier to follow discussions from different leagues.

I'd like to see a primer/synopsis of this European league. I had no clue it was actually ready to go as I've heard scuttlebutt about it for the last few decades. I hope its not controlled by the NFL.

No, it is fortunately not controlled or managed by the NFL.
The commissioner of the league is Patrick Esume.

Currently, he mainly comments on NFL games for German television, but he has already gained a lot of experience as a player and as a coach (also in the NFL).

I think that for the beginning I will just post all news regarding the ELF here.
If then it is not responded to or me to the topic will talk here alone, I will then just look whether it is due to lack of interest or that the posts here simply sink.

So fill us in on when it starts, if there will be cross games with nfl will it run opposite xfl?  What are the details and the financing?

Ok, so what's next? Draft picks? Kinda boring and random at the same time.

Most hated time of the year started this week.

But I must say that I am excited for the ELF, the European League of Football, which has been announced.
I am curious how high the level will be there. In the first season, 6 teams from Germany, one from Poland and a Spanish team will play against each other.

Maybe the league will gain some attention and allow some players to live from football here, which is not possible and does not promote the sport.
I think just that could possibly be the right step to get this sport bigger in Europe.
The games will also be broadcasted on the german television.

Start a thread.

A seperate one from this? Thought it would fit in this thread aswell but you might be right. Could gain a bit attention with an own thread.
Will collect all the infos I have and will put it in a new discussion if you like this idea?

This thread is for the discussion of the game known as American Football.  It doesn't matter where the game is played, what league we discuss, or which language is spoken by the announcers.  It's all about FOOTBALL.  Any discussion of the game is on-topic, feel free discuss the European League, the Canadian League, and my personal favorite off-season football league the Mexican Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional.

Breaking news the Texans have released J.J. Watt, while it was known he wanted out and it was difficult any team would have gave too much for him and outright releasing him cleans a lot of cap space this seems more like a PR move more than anything as the image of the Texans is not very good at the moment.

Source: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/30886997/houston-texans-part-ways-jj-watt-asks-release

Ok, so what's next? Draft picks? Kinda boring and random at the same time.
While the off-season is nowhere near as exciting as watching the games at the same time this is where we can see who is ready to take make a run to the SB, the fact the cap is going down will create a very interesting dynamic, star players will have to accept less, the middle class of players will have to accept even less money and many will have to play for the minimum for veterans, and those that already played for the minimum will be squeezed out of the league.

This means teams with cap space can sign a lot of veterans under their regular market value that will decide to come to them to ring chase, and the Bucs seems like the perfect spot to do it, so even if they cannot retain all of their players it seems to me they can get many veterans there for cheap that want to win a SB, making them even more scary than what they were this season.

The guy who ran onto the field won a prop bet that someone would run onto the field, lol.  He got someone to place the bet at a bookie in Vegas which give him 750 to 1 odds, and reportedly won $370k.  Here I was cringing at the thought of what that thong would do to my balls, little did I know his were made of brass.

Yuri Andrade -- the man who broke onto the field while wearing a pink thong bathing suit -- says he came up with the idea for the stunt after seeing a prop bet that offered GREAT ODDS if someone actually ran onto the field during the SB55.

Andrade explained the whole thing during an interview with WILD 94.1 -- saying the gambling website Bovada offered +750 odds ($100 bet pays $750) so he decided to take matters into his own hands.

Looks like the Bucs liked this according to this report:

Quote from: b1039.com
Were the players mad at the interruption? Hardly! Babs noted that she saw Andrade and Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans at a Tampa club on Monday night. According to Andrade, Evans said that the stunt was “epic” and that the team was “dying laughing.” They even took a photo together.

Andrade said his friend who has a prank website — “Vitaly Uncensored,” which we won’t link to due to its NSFW content — has been trying to pull off a stunt like this for years, so Yuri came up with a plan “to do two people, one to run as a distraction so all the security rushes him, so I can clear the field.”

Then his friend wondered if there was a prop bet about an on-field streaker… and there was. It was “plus 750” for a fan to run on to the field. Andrade explains that in-depth in the interview.

Andrade ended up paying to bail himself and his friend out of jail which set them back $1K, and paid for two Super Bowl tickets. However, they made their money back and then some.

I don't know about you guys but i couldn't fully enjoy the game as a neutral fan, it was no competition, Chiefs got dominated so badly on the line of scrimmage they just couldn't do anything. That MVP should go straight to Bucs defense and their DC Todd Bowles. Did Tyreek Hill even play in this game?

Mattress Mack cashing out big time, eh?  Shocked Grin

Like DireWolfM14 already mentioned, I enjoyed this match aswell. Maybe just because I am an absolute Brady fanboy.
But the defensive were on fire, how could you not like/enjoy their plays? They were hunting Mahomes like ***
These blitzes worked out perfectly and it has been fun to watch Shaq Barrett und Devin White in the playoffs.. they went nuts.
I wouldnt want to play against White as a Chief. Very hard and clean hits and great tackles.

Meanwhile, streaker man scores a touchdown!.
Gotta love the play by play...lol

Lol, I missed that yesterday.  It looked that security guard in white who took him down really jacked him up.  Then he straddled his head, lol!  Insult to injury.

I don't know, I enjoyed it.  I expected a close, high scoring, back-and-fourth game, but it wasn't that bad.  It was good to see at least one defense stand out.

They should start awarding the MVP honors to the lines as a whole.  I know, I know "most valuable player, but both the Buc's OLine and their DLine were really the most valuable assets on the field yesterday.  None of the other players had as significant of an impact on the game.  Brady had all the time he wanted in the pocket, and Mahomes was busy running for his life.
