Grabbed this the other day before placing an ill-fated preseason bet on the Eagles.

It's two days old but largely still relevant I presume. Lotta money coming in to the Bucs and the Rams, which are a bit too low odds for me now.

Had I known the Eagles were starting Flacco, well dammit I shoulda checked. Meanwhile Cam Newton was looking pretty on point for the downs he did play. Can't wait for the real thing.

Trubisky lighting it up against his former team and Justin Fields nearly getting murdered in the fourth quarter, not a good day for Bears fan. Fields seems to be okay though, but that hit in the head was terrible. 👀

Give me more meaningless preseason games, please!  Grin

Trying to extend my winning streak with Ravens ml + Steelers ml, Harbaugh and Mike Tomlin are guys that care about wins regardless if its preseason or regular season. If BAL wins tonight, it will be their 19th straight, matching Vince Lombardi's Green Bay Packers team from the 1960s, who also had 19.

If you do not include Mac Jones and Justin Fields, there might only be Trey Lance and Zach Wilson for position battles to watch? I am a newbie hehehe.

News update on Deshaun Watson. It appears the Houston Texans owners might get a thankful Deshaun for letting him play football this season.

In a twist, criminal probe into Deshaun Watson may ensure he’s eligible to play entire 2021 NFL season

What that means for Watson is that his immediate football fate is tied to what happens next in the criminal probes. Should he be indicted by a grand jury in the coming months, he would likely be immediately placed on the exempt list until any charges were taken to some kind of legal conclusion. And if a grand jury were to pass on indicting him, then the NFL would be free to finish its own investigation without worry of poisoning the law enforcement well.

Simply put, the longer Watson’s criminal investigations linger without a conclusion, the longer he will be able to stay on a football field. Possibly for the entirety of 2021.

Was a good first game of the week last night when the Patriots played the Eagles.  Well I guess by good game I mean it was fun watching the quarterback battle between Cam and Mac Jones.  Cam looked pretty good but Mac wasn't too bad himself.

Since there are 3 instead of 4 pre-season games this year, this week is the "dress rehearsal" week for teams meaning we will get to see most teams starters at least for a quarter or two.  I am very much looking forward to Justin Fields getting his second NFL game action. Will also be pretty interesting seeing him play vs Mitchell Trubisky lol.

Any position battles any of you are interested in watching this week?

Jimmy G is terrible.
I wouldn't call Garoppolo terrible.  He's 22 and 8 as a starter for the Niners, and that includes two losses that he started but didn't finish due to injury.  Average passer rating as a Niner is 95, which isn't great but far from terrible.  He's actually pretty darn accurate passer, even if he doesn't have a big arm.  His main faults are that he's prone to injuries and he's less mobile than Tom Brady.  For a pocket passing type offense he'd be a great addition.

I shouldn't say terrible, but not good.  He's just a game manager and I've never been a very big fan of his. There's a reason the Niners drafted a QB early in the draft, of course.

Don't mean to be a bummer but we talked it over and decided it's probably just best to keep things as is. Mainly because we are a newb-heavy league, some of whom have been practicing 8-team drafts already. No disrespect meant to ChiBitCTy. Next year we'll definitely do a 10-team league.

@ChiBitCTy, I hope you're not offended, please don't take it personally.  The decision to keep it a small, casual league was discussed from the onset, and that's what attracted me to it in the first place.

It's all good.  I appreciate you guys considering me period. After playing a year of 8 man I'm confident you guys will see why it's much better having a 10-12 man.  But as it sounds many of you are new to Fantasy Football so it'll be a good learning experience for you all.  If anyone does happen to drop out by chance, of course I'd be happy to fill their spot. Best of luck to everyone in the league!

@wheelz1200. The odds on the Houston Texans to win AFC south is 32.70. I might put some campaign money there hehehe. Everyone might be speculating that Deshaun Watson might never play in Houston again, however, would the Texans allow their season to be 0 - 16 with Davis Mills?

I just homered in and threw down a bet on the giants to win the NFL east.  Why you ask.  Well they're my squad and I'm a Homer better but... Danny's 3rd year he should take a leap.  O line is greatly improved.  Saquan should be back.  Picking up Galloway should expand their deep game.  On defense their secondary is going to be awesome.  And lastly the ntc east might be the worst division in football so it's anyone's game for the taking.  And don't give me that cowboys speech I don't want to hear it 😤

You guys can still draft Taysom Hill.  Tongue

Haha, Good one! I'd merit it but blew my load on the dudes new tat. Cheesy

Any QB that starts for The Saints should be a fair draft though as its still a very high powered offense.

Let's see if I can make this simple...

Boom problem solved
The league has been updated with the date of the draft, and as if mocking me in the lobby appeared a giant countdown which meant that my doubts and misgivings were misplaced as this was a nonissue, as such there is no way for anyone to miss when the draft will actually happen, but in my defense I will say I am a newbie and did not knew that will happen. Tongue

There go my plans to draft Tebow in the first round, the best blocking TE in the league could not make the Jags squad, it's a sad day... Cry
This is outrageous, my secret strategy to beat you all by using Tebow to fill every position and score 100 points each week is ruined, If I lose the league I will eternally blame the Jaguars for this. Roll Eyes

Edit:
You guys can still draft Taysom Hill.  Tongue
My tin foil hat is telling me I am being monitored as all my "genius" strategies are being leaked out.

Perfect!

TE?  I was going to draft him for my RB and WR slots.  I mean it's Tebow after all.  So when does Tebow go out to compete in the national curling league?  All kidding aside it's amazing that he keeps getting all these wierd chances.  Guess that's what jersey sales will do for your chances on getting invites  Grin

Should the players in my team not always be in the same bye weeks?

Its kind of hard to avoid... Things can take unexpected turns that throw a ringer in too much advance planning, such as injuries and possibly even canceled games and so forth.

What I recommend personally is:

Let's say your starting QB and backup QB both have bye weeks. And you like both of them so you want to keep them. You'll want to drop your weakest player to pick up a tertiary QB to fill the position that week. Maybe a QB who is expected to do well that week. Then you drop them the next week and pick up a player to fill whatever it is that you are lacking.

That is fine with me and I will update the league with this info, however there is a minor detail, technically speaking the east coast of the US is not observing EST(Eastern Standard Time) but the ET(Eastern Time) or more precisely EDT(Eastern Daylight Time) and the NFL and ESPN do the same, while most of the time this will not a big deal, if a member of the league unaware of this were to use one of those time zone calculators to see when the draft will be conducted at their local time and they used the EST they will arrive one hour late to the draft as EST is UTC -5 while ET and EDT are UTC -4, so I think it is more precise to say the draft will happen at Sept. 3rd, 8 PM ET? Or am I wrong with my assumption?

Let's see if I can make this simple...

I reckon the timer should be edited into the first post of every page by DireWolfM14 hehehe. In any case, I am excited and nervous for this. All my picks on the mock drafts I have joined do not end in the way I planned.

AFA bye weeks most people try to not have everyone out on the same week, if you do then you can factor in you will lose that week.

We also nailed down our draft time which is:

Sept. 3rd, 8 PM EST

I suggest we just use EST as our standard time. ESPN and NFL usually list game times according to EST anyway.

I would definitely back chibit for the league.  If we could at least get this to a 10 man league that would make it more competitive.  8an leagues are OK but make the waiver wire irrelevant which should be a critical part of a championship team.  Anyone else down for a 10 man league?  We could get chibit and I could find one more forum ember for sure.

Still haven't decided on a #1 pick.

Understood on the team size thing.  Next year we should bump it to 10 teams.  As far as Friday the 3rd that's perfect I will be on.  The next night Saturday I just couldn't make it so appreciate it moving.  Can't wait, putting together my cheat sheets now Smiley.  If you need help with that #1 pick just go ahead and take the jacksonville defense Smiley

Excellent, that works out great for me.  Gives me just enough time to get home from work, take a fat bong hit, and log on to take my first pick...  At number 8.  Undecided
