Justin Fields might be another draftee that we could witness become a starter by week 4, I reckon. Unless Andy Dalton performs very good and saves himself. There is also Zach Wilson who might also surprise everyone hehe. There is not much news updates on him.

Zach Wilson was my favorite of the QB draftees, he looks like Josh Allen.  I think it would be best if all the QBs drafted this year sit out the whole season.  They're all very talented, but there's more upside to letting them sit out, and more risk to starting them right away.  Obviously the Jags aren't going to take my advice, and Robert Salah doesn't have another viable option other than Wilson (and zero depth.)  As for the other teams, barring any injuries I wouldn't be surprised to see Dalton and Garoppolo start all year.  And Cam too, for that matter.

J.K. Dobbins is likely out for the season:

J.K. Dobbins currently is undergoing his MRI, but the expectation going in was that he had suffered a season-ending knee injury, per sources.

I had this dude in 90% of my mock drafts, you hate to see when a promising young RB goes down with a serious knee injury, especially in a preseason game. Ravens now have the record for most consecutive preseason wins in a row at 20, but at what cost? Lips sealed

Roll Eyes That sucks!  I had pretty high on my list, but I didn't expect him to be available once I draft.

As for RB's Raheem Mostert looked quite impressive in the 9er opening drive.

Speaking of the niners, lol on that opening drive.  Shanahan loves clowning around, he kept inserting Lance just to hand the ball off to Mostert, then runs Garoppolo for a TD.  Of course the Raiders' D was looking for Lance to run, and not expecting Jimmy to try.

I'm not holding my breath that kind of shit is going to work in the regular season.  The Raiders kept 30 of their top guys out of pads for this game, Gruden is playing his second and third team guys.

Jags ml + 49ers ml is my ticket for today, looking to finish strong. hehe   btw, Joe Burrow is expected to play a few series for the Bengals, probably worth checking...

I think we should just refer to him as "Covid Cam", sorta like Typhoid Mary. Smiley

I strongly speculate Covid Cam’s irresponsibility have Bill Belichik talking to his men and will either declare Mac Jones play as the first quarterback after 4 weeks or trade for the best available quarterback. Massage Watson, Jimmy G? Who is available?

Also, the spread for week 1 are only -3 for Greenbay and only -6 for the Chiefs?

There is a reason that we are almost assuredly going to see Cam and Jimmy G starting, as well as the same reason why Andy Dalton has already been declared the starter.  If you think about it, if any of these 3 rookies end up as the day one starter and they struggle right out of the gate..say they struggle hard core, then you end up putting in the Veteran and it just kind of hinders the growth of these rookies that these teams hope to have leading the squad for years to come.  It's better to let the veterans come in and have the rookies learn a bit.  Then if they struggle you've got a new fresh start with the rookies, vs if the rookies struggle and then you put the so so veterans in...well that's just deflating to the whole team.

Is Cam Newton unvaccinated? It appears then that this has made Bill Belichick’s decision much easier hehe. I predict that we might see Cam Newton play on week 1, lose that game and Belichick will decide to let Mac Jones play week 2.

@wheelz1200. Who has the higher chance to take the Patriots to the playoffs? Cam Newton or Mac Jones?

New England Patriots QB Cam Newton returned to practice Thursday after sitting out the NFL's five-day entry cadence under COVID-19 protocols, giving him three days to prepare for the club's preseason finale on Sunday against the New York Giants.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick has had little to say on Newton's situation, instead standing on a statement the club released that explained the quarterback's absence as a "misunderstanding" of the league's protocols regarding COVID-19 testing done away from team facilities. Only unvaccinated players are subject to the five-day re-entry policy.
"He didn't go against team rules," Belichick said of Newton, per NFL Network's Mike Giardi, adding, "All the QBs will get work today."

Belichick has been mum about who will start between Newton and rookie Mac Jones, who has been impressive in training camp, and reiterated Thursday he doesn't have a timetable for naming a Week 1 starter. He did acknowledge Tuesday, however, that Jones had a big opportunity in Newton's absence. He apparently took advantage of it in joint practices with the Giants, while Newton's contact with the Patriots for five days was relegated to virtual participation in meetings.

burning.

If you want me to be honest, neither of them.  But Jimmy isn't a huge upgrade giving the team.  The Patriots aren't really going to beat the likes of Tennessee, Kansas city or even the bills in their own division.  I wouldn't give up high picks to stay a middle of the road team.  Jimmy isn't the answer...they hope Mac is so I'd run with Cam and Mac this year.

I think Darrell Henderson just got screwed with Sony Michel Trade.  I was planning on grabbing both, thought Michel wouldn't get traded until 6th week but this threw a wrench in a few of my value players I was gonna try to snipe.

This backfield was giving me some anxiety before Cam Akers went down but it doesn't as much anymore even with Sony Michel being picked up.  I still think the job is going to be Henderson's and lets face facts here too..Sony Michel is not good.  There is a reason the Pats were willing to trade him away.  Just my 2.

I think the Bears will suck this year tbh.  We will certainly be a bit better than the Giants however that is for sure..not that that is saying very much lol.  Outside of Saquon Barkley the Giants are going to be very, very, very BAD lol.

If Cam stays in we will be fighting for the bottom right there with you! Cheesy

Agreed, they might also not reach the playoffs with Mac Jones. However, the trade deadline is on November. If the 49ers should resolve that they make Trey Lance their permanent no.1 quarterback before the deadline, is there a chance that Bill Belichick might try to get Jimmy Garoppolo?

No way not after taking Mac with the 1 this year and cam sitting there.  Jimmy isn't a huge upgrade.  Now if Aaron Rodgers becomes available that's a whole different story.

And @chi cowboys always suck this year won't be any different.  Redskins have a tough schedule ahead of them but their d is tight.  Giants still gonna win it.  And Jan 2nd is a lock for the giants.  Will be the ff superbowl week too.  Might just need to take Danny dimes with my first pick in the draft! Lol

Lol you are off your rocker Sir Wheelz.  There is not a chance in hell that the Giants will finish in first place in that division.  The Cowboys have Dak back, and Dak is far better than anything ya'll got over in New York.  The cowboys have some solid wide receivers, running backs etc.  Defense may be a bit suspect, but still.  I also thing the WFT will be very solid..as you said their D is legit but so should be their offense. Fitzmagic is solid, their running back Gibson is a stud, some good WRs etc.  I am willing to make a side bet with you if you'd like sir?? Smiley

Don't threaten me with a good time.  Throw me some odds and I'm down.  If you want to be the house I will give you a bit of an edge against the current odds.  Straight up it makes no sense on my part will just pile on at current odds with the book.  Now if you want to bet straight up on the January 2nd game, I'm down.  Let's bet on the toilet bowl!

And Dallas always has a great offense yet they don't do squat year in and year out.  Dak is over rated.  He had probably the best o line in the league one year.  Look at what zeke did second half of last year with a crap line.  Nadda.  We both know rbs and qbs can be drastically change with line play.

How do we make that bet, I have to give you like a win or two or something?  I am certainly up for making it though of course. I also agree with Dak, he is a bit overrated but still, it's not like he sucks.

I guess either give me the odds currently on the board.  Or I guess we can handicap it by giving me a game or 2.  Just odd because if they are technically out as of the last game I still might be in the bet but the giants might lay off.  🤔

Let me think on this and will get back to you.  I will pretty much take any creative bet centered around the giants winning the division.  The Homer in me is brurning.

Lol, it's still a contentious issue 30 years later, many are still salty about the subject.  One of my coworkers, who's a die-hard 9ers fan wore his KC 16 Jersey to work the week before super bowl 54.

Oh fuck! thats Harsh, good thing it was the 49ers and not the raiders! Cheesy

Week 3 of preseason kicks today with 4 games, i'm still undecided on what i'll be watching, i will probably check each game and see who is playing and who is not...meh, not ideal.

Yeah pretty shitty selection, went from colts while I was rebuilding the bikes carbs to the KC game just in time to catch the Mahomes to hill TD.

Steelers will not have any of their starters against Carolina is what i heard, whereas Darnold and a few of Panthers' starters will see at least a quarter of the field.

The only reasonable selection here is to back the home team, hence CAR ml.  The line opened at CAR +4 and is currently CAR -3.5, which appears to be a strong indicator of who the oddsmakers think will win.

Now they have to face the Seahawks and the Packers along with the Saints.
Its very possible the saints are going to suck this year.

Maybe.  Sean Payton was successful with Teddy Bridgewater, and he seems to have faith in Taysom Hill even if Jameis Winston doesn't pan out.  They're definitely not the same team without Brees.

BTW this happened with the 49ers when Young replaced Montana and the fans were not happy at all about this until Young could bring win a SB, and even then during that season Montana and Young faced each other and a great deal of 49ers fans were cheering for Montana over Young and the 49ers.

As Hueristic mentioned a few pages ago, if there is a change at the starting QB position it will happen after the week 4 which is the game against Tampa Bay, while not talked about much the mentality of the players is critical especially when they are just starting their careers, so if I was Belichick there is no way in hell I will throw Jones against that defense and against Brady, this is why despite my dislike for Cam I am not so against his tenure as he can be the successor of Brady, fail and then we get another QB that does not have to carry that load on his shoulders.

If I were to bet on the NFC East, I would pick the Giants.  But I always pick the Giants to win the conference (because I hate the cowboys,) and of course I'm often wrong.  WFT kinda shot themselves in the foot by winning the conference last year.  By doing so they added two tough games to their schedule.  Now they have to face the Seahawks and the Packers along with the Saints.

The Cowboys have Dak back, and Dak is far better than anything ya'll got over in New York.  The cowboys have some solid wide receivers, running backs etc.  Defense may be a bit suspect, but still.

Lol, a bit suspect?  Dak is actually a good QB, I'll give him that, but he won't line up as a linebacker, lol.  Dallas often has a great offense, at least they're productive in yards and points.  The only trouble is they're always playing catch-up.  I still think the Giants take the East, but I'm not willing to bet on that.  Tongue

I think WFT has a better chance than Dallas, honestly.

They aren't going to trade anything for a 1 year Jimmy rental though, San Fran will want to much.  And any multi-year deal kind of kills the whole point of drafting Mac 1st by burying him as the 3rd qb.  There's teams that will want Jimmy, Denver might be a good landing spot.  Or Carolina if Sam Darnold starts out terrible.

You never know.  Garoppolo would fit the Pats offense a lot better than Newton, and if Belichick want's Mac on the bench for a couple of years I could see him trying to make the deal.  I agree that the 9ers will want a hefty sum to recoup some of the draft stock they gave up to get Trey, so that might be the deciding factor.

This will be interesting to see pan out. If I was in a league that was drafting right now I would grab him as a flyer but either way its a gamble with high payoff potential if henderson goes down. It should be fun to see how this pans out.

Since it's already draft snz, i have a quick hypothetical question. How would you treat unvaccinated players (that you know of) in this year's drafts? Are you willing to pass on a player just because he is not vaccinated and hence poses a higher risk of contracting rona and thus missing time/messing up with your team?

All things being equal I'd definitely grab the vaxxed player but I don't think not being vaxxed is enough of a detriment to move them down on my list. But if I already don't really like them then thats just added risk and I'd grab an alternative thats rated lower in lieu.

ngl he was also on my radar, i wonder if Henderson's thumb injury (they say it's nothing serious) has anything to do with the trade or the Rams just adding depth to their RB position?

It looks like depth to me but now we might have a fight for starting position or a timeshare.
