Doomed to see the future and unable to prevent it
Sept. 3rd, 8 PM EST

Be there or be square.

Still haven't decided on a #1 pick.

Adding to calendar, otherwise I'll forget for sure.

Just know whoever you don't pick for number one I'll be grabbing number two! Smiley

I would definitely back chibit for the league.  If we could at least get this to a 10 man league that would make it more competitive.  8an leagues are OK but make the waiver wire irrelevant which should be a critical part of a championship team.  Anyone else down for a 10 man league?  We could get chibit and I could find one more forum ember for sure.

Don't mean to be a bummer but we talked it over and decided it's probably just best to keep things as is. Mainly because we are a newb-heavy league, some of whom have been practicing 8-team drafts already. No disrespect meant to ChiBitCTy. Next year we'll definitely do a 10-team league.

We also nailed down our draft time which is:

Sept. 3rd, 8 PM EST

Be there or be square.

Still haven't decided on a #1 pick.

Jimmy G is terrible.

I wouldn't call Garoppolo terrible.  He's 22 and 8 as a starter for the Niners, and that includes two losses that he started but didn't finish due to injury.  Average passer rating as a Niner is 95, which isn't great but far from terrible.  He's actually pretty darn accurate passer, even if he doesn't have a big arm.  His main faults are that he's prone to injuries and he's less mobile than Tom Brady.  For a pocket passing type offense he'd be a great addition.

I don't think it will be very long before he loses his job.  Of course it's not like he really owns it atm anyhow, they are just bringing Lance in slowly like the Bears are with Fields.

I agree.  Shanahan has never been thrilled with Garoppolo.  Shanahan is one of the most brilliant offensive architects in the league, but Garoppolo limits his creativity.  He's been salivating for someone like Trey Lance who allows him to spin some gimmicky option plays.

This guy is primed for a huge year. I'm def targeting him in all my leagues.

It doesn't matter who's playing QB, Aiyuk will get a lot of balls tossed his way.

I would be fine with any draft spot I could get.  Buy-in is no problem. I am also available to draft literally any time, any date.  If I'm being honest, 8 man leagues are pretty silly ( wheelz could back me up on that one ).  8 man means there are tons of great players on the waver wire at all times and it almost completely takes the competition out of it.  Here's just one example of why 8 man isn't fun : you're in a playoff game, you've built a great team and the team you're playing against, who completely lucked their way in to the playoffs, has a good player get hurt/suspended or whatever and now they are able to go in to the waiver wire and get a very good player that shouldn't have even been on the waiver wire in the first place.  You worked your butt off to get to the playoffs, or championship game and then some lesser team who lucked in to it in the first place easily picks up stud on the wire and ends up beating you.  That takes the competition out of it and adds more luck to the equation. In FF, you want to remove as much luck as possible. 10 man is still a little shallow for my taste, because there are still too many good players on the waiver wire, but it's much much better than 8 man.  I say with a ton of experience, you'll be very happy moving to a 10 man vs 8.  I could provide more examples why a 10 man makes a lot more sense too.  I would make 9 and I'm pretty confident we could find a 10th pretty easily.   We are still a ways out from opening day.  Would love to play w/you guys!!

I am terrible at Fantasy Football!!!
I sent a PM to some of the members that have not expressed their preferences about the current date of the draft we are discussing and I also notified them about the desire of ChiBitCTy to join the league, lets see what are their opinions about it.

Just tried to find a gif of it but the results came up with soo many Cam fumbles I can't wade through them all!

Thats gonna be that guys legacy.

Maybe the ball is made of Kryptonite?
The legacy of Cam is going to be that fumble at SB 50 where he had a chance to dive for the fumble and he did not do it, he excuses himself saying it was too late to recover the ball or that he was in a bad position but the fact he did not even try was very telling.

It has been a busy weekend for me but I could watch the game of NE against the nameless team and I liked what I saw from Jones, obviously he has a lot of things to improve but the offense looks like the offense NE has been running during the last decade so it was refreshing to see, especially compared with what we saw last year.

First attempt; on the money, Aiyuk drops it.
Second attempt; gets sacked.
Third attempt; throws the long ball to Trey Sermon for an 88 yard touchdown play.  Nice.

He's looking pretty darn good for a rooky.  His first series was against the KC's first team defense.  He took sack, which is better than making a stupid mistake.  I don't think it's going to take long before he replaces Garoppolo.  Maybe the steep price they paid to get the third over all pick is justified after all.  I know it's only pre-season, and I am trying to contain my optimism, lol.

Garapallo is done stick a fork in him.

LOL just when I was typing this Lance almost got picked then threw one to no-where.

and sacked as I hit send Doh!

Fields def had a sloppy first half and his numbers don't tell a true picture.  Not to mention he played better vs lesser players who play 2nd half..I missed the game but I assume that's how it went as it normally does.

What do you think Belichick would give us for him?  Grin

LOL just when I was typing this Lance almost got picked then threw one to no-where.

Lol, yeah he is a rooky.  He's bound to make some mistakes.  Like he just fumbled as I'm writing.

It's his physical attributes where he really stands out.  Learning the offence and avoiding mistakes will come with experience.  He's obviously an intelligent kid, it's just a matter of time.

Yeah, that first scramble and toss on the run he looked like Mahomes, you can't teach that shit!

He's got a chance here that few QB's get, a monster fan base, a great organization and natural talent.

If he fucks it up he can probably look in the mirror.

Not to mention Garapallo is a cool guy and giving him a veterans hand up.
He might be worth grabbing early

BTW, the Ravens D is looking Stellar.

HAHA, the Announcer must have read my post as he just used the same stellar descriptor as well for their D.
Literally 2 seconds after I typed this.

Justin Fields had as good of a debut as Bears fans could have hoped for. I know it's a preseason game and we often overreact, but dude had some great plays, 140+ pass yards, a pass, and a rush TD (106.7 RTG), not bad for the rookie.

He had a rough start, a bunch of dropped balls, was nearly intercepted, lost a fumble, but he finished pretty darn hot.  He's incredibly fast for a QB, and those touchdown runs were a glimpse of his capabilities.

I only watched the first half of WAS/NE the other day, and while Mac Jones' stats were not as impressive as Fields today, he appeared to be very comfortable within the Patriots' offense. Rest of the rookie QB class who are set to play today: Lawrance at 7 pm, Zack Wilson 7:30 pm, Trey Lance 8:30 pm, Jordan Love will play for the Packers, so interesting to see him in action as well.

Ravens haven't lost a preseason game since 2015  Shocked, i'm 3/3 on my bets this past two weeks. Ravens, please make it 18 in a rowGrin

I can make the draft Friday September 3rd as well so lets hear the availability for the rest of the members.

September 3rd sounds good to me, and i have no objections with adding two more players (so we can get to 10).

I can do that Friday night the 3rd if people can do that night.  If people can't do the weekday nights then possibly the Friday, Saturday or Sunday the weekend before?  Are weekdays completely out?
I'm open to any of these suggestions.  I forgot that the Sept. 4th was Labor Day Weekend, I have motorcycle ride planned with a buddy that weekend.  I would probably be able to make it to a hotel room by 4pm (Pacific time equivalent to 7pm Eastern) to participate, but it would be difficult.  Friday the 3rd would be better for me, and I'm also open to the weekend of the 28th.  No pressure to make any changes on my account, I'll accommodate whatever decision is agreed upon.
With two members being unable to make it to the Saturday 4th then that date is discarded, what about Friday September 3rd 7PM EST?

I have a draft in another league on September 2nd at 7PM EST, so that window between 7 to 9 is already booked, everything else is fine with me. (in case we opt for September 2nd draft)
I can make the draft Friday September 3rd as well so lets hear the availability for the rest of the members.

Do you guys need another for the league? I'm sad ya'll did not ask me, and you invited that dodgy wheelz feller?!  Cry  Jk, but I would love to play if ya'll happen to have a spot left. I would also be available to draft literally any day or any time.  I make fantasy football drafts an absolute top priority.
Is this only an 8 team league  Shocked yum.  Will make rounds 4-10 less stressful.
...and yes it is an 8 team league, in fact at the beginning I set it up as a 10 team league but I realized that filling that many spots could be difficult and the ESPN website did not allowed me to reduce the number of teams but it did allow me to increase it, so I thought it was better to start with an 8 team league and if there was demand for it we could increase it if necessary.
As you can see it was a judgment call I made when creating the league, it was an arbitrary decision but I thought that it was better to start small and only increase the number if there was the demand for it as the ESPN website allowed me to increase the number of teams but not to decrease it, we do not have a formal agreement but so far we have more support for the current size to remain that way, after all the discussion about the league has been going on for about 2 months and only the current members of the league have shown any interest, so it is not like we are excluding anyone that desperately wants to participate.
The league had 8 spots and the spots are taken however I have always been open about the possibility of increasing the number of spots if there was demand for it, however there are a few hurdles to overcome.

First I cannot do this unilaterally and we will need the support of the majority of the members of the league.

Second you will have to agree with the 0.0015 BTC buy-in, not a problem for you I suppose.

Third if we add you that will make it a 9 team league so we will probably need yet another player to make it a 10 team league.

And fourth the draft order lottery was already conducted here, so we only have two options, the first is to redo the draft order, something that I doubt will fly as it is becoming more and more obvious to me some of you take this very seriously and they have been planning which players to pick since they knew their official drafting position, the second option is that we do a mini draft order lottery among the two new players for my 5th pick in the draft, I get the 9th and whoever losses gets the 10th, not optimal but it is the first thing that comes to my mind.

Edit: added some words to the last paragraph as without them the meaning changed completely.

@ChiBitCTy. This is a newbie’s league. You are welcome to join, however, please do not make it more difficult for me hehehe.

In any case, everyone, what type of draft are we doing? Is this a superflex or whatever flex? I hope we can have the simplest and most standard draft available. I tried the mock draft again. It is still very confusing! I drafted 6 players with all similar bye weeks. This is bad right?

Wait, so there is an opening or? No worries, even if I get a spot in the league or not, feel free (any of you) to run questions by me about anything, even if you want some lineup help, have a question between which player to start etc.  I've been playing for about 15 years now, play in 3-5 leagues a year etc, so I've had a bit of practice so far  Cheesy  I am also super obsessed with football and fantasy football...which may be kind of sad but whatever lol.

To be honest you were the first runner-up for consideration, I mentioned you in a PM to other members. Pretty much everybody I invited said Yes and then we were full.

Everybody who hasn't chimed in with a time range for draft availability, please let us know your preference.

Football season is nearing, after all... Can you feel it? There's a certain electricity in the air. Need to stop drying my clothes without a fabric softener.

Damn, well I appreciate you thinking of me.  Ya'll playing a 10 man or 12?  If it's a 10 man any consideration to 12? I would love to play with all you guys!
