Most of the donators are busy now in making more bitcoins into their savings and many of the accounts were hacked in 2015 so some of them was donators accounts too.

Can I know why you are searching the donators?  Grin

Most of them I think worry about their donation...But that is life something can no value today but someday It will be priceless, and if they didn't donate they will sell them for $100 or similar price..nothing to worry..hahahahahhaaa

I think most of them don't. One of the things that I noticed about the very early Crypto community is that it was more about the code and the economic concept than the money.

The pure speculation, greed, mania and hype only came after it became more popular.

I’ve always thought my 10 BTC donation was in line with other entertainment options. For example, at the current valuation, my 10 BTC donation boils down to about $13/hr of logged in time. That’s not far from the cost of watching a movie, and cheaper than going to dinner or a bar. I don’t regret my donation at all.

Dude, can you like explain a little on what happened to most of the donators? I am especially interested in knowing what happened to those who got their title removed and more importantly, what theymos actually did to MNW's bitcointalk access. I wish theymos were a little more active now-a-days.  Undecided

I am too lazy at the moment to go for witch hunting.  Tongue

I'm appreciative of the donators that helped maintain our little forum here. I'm actually quite impressed that more of the accounts haven't been hacked, stolen, sold, lost, etc. Interesting that so many of them have kept their account secure and reputation clean. I know we have a handful of troublemakers on the list, but this is to be expected in my opinion. Thanks for paving the way, for real.

now crying for their  10 BTC lose. which if they kept with them they would get a huge profit today.

Source? I haven't seen a single donator crying about their 10 BTC loss. Would be interested in reading more about this, unless you are just making things up.

This thread has a lot of references for some good reading. Thanks for the links, and stories folks!

It is easy to see the ugly side of Bitcointalk. Spamming, scamming, trolling and disagreements. I didn't have a high opinion of bitcointalk until recently. Discovering the hidden gems changed my view of this forum..

Molecular left a nice legacy in bitcointalk history - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/joe-is-dead-httpfindmeifyoucaneu-120918 - AKA joe23 of http://findmeifyoucan.eu challenged the forum to "find him" for a 14 BTC reward.

MelMan2002 claimed the prize with the following unexpected discovery.

You are molecular.  He is the only one who mistypes "silkraod" like that.

During that time though 10BTC is like nothing to them. now that its more than $5000, its a lot of things already. If it was just $500 in total of the 10btc, they wouldn't mind. It happened already and all they have is the bragging rights. A donator badge here in the forum deserves respect Smiley

You got the name against this one wrong. It's "Vasco" and not "BitcoinExchange"

Thanks - updated - added their changed name.

I wonder if the account got taken for a default - it says SEIZED by Gunthar

Yes it is now with Gunthar. Here is the loan that Vasco defaulted:

Why did you say like that sir? I guess they have a lot of money and 10 bitcoin probably too easy to gain with their job. And I'm less comfortable with your words that say "shit forum"  Sad. I really like this forum sir. If I have 1000 bitcoin I will donate 10 bitcoins gladly to make this forum alive and growing. If necessary I will also integrate blockchain technology into this forum for stronger community and security. So, please if there is any lack of this forum, this should be the responsibility of all cryptocurrency activists. I also really appreciate you for being a copper member, in other words, you also have donations and donate for the future of our beloved forum. Thank you, sir.  Wink

None that I know of actually ever did that.
Quite a few bitched about forum moderators/admins and left for good, but I've never heard anyone of them lament their "lost 10 BTC".

Quote from: D.H. Lawrence
I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself.

I  agree - I doubt many would have real regrets. You can't have regrets in Crypto. You'll miss the next opportunity if you think too much about what you have spent or missed out on.

Spending crypto is actually good for the Crypto itself - it wasn't designed to be HODLed forever. It is the people that use it, mine it, buy it and sell it that give it value.

If I would spent time on reliving the lost opportunities I would be permanently depressed and wouldn't enjoy the "wins".

In Crypto - shit happens and you move on to the next opportunity.

If you had 10 BTC then and you don't have any now then your mistake wasn't to use the 10 BTC but to have a lack of faith in BTC that prevented you from getting more.

Matthew N. Wright https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/matthew-n-wright-24749 (banned? - untrustworthy tag ? ) 2014

He was not just banned, but apparently, theymos changed some settings so that when he tried to access "bitcointalk.org", he is unable to access the forum and is shown a blank page(?).

MNW and theymos very much did not get along, although he was previously a staff member. I remember seeing his negative rating on theymos show up that resulted from him being on someone's trust list, that said that theymos is just a 21 year old kid who ran an illegal stock exchange.

MNW was apparently banned and temporarily unbanned a number of times so he can post updates in regards to repaying his debts. Although he said at the time he was trolling when he was guaranteeing repayment of pirate40's ponzi, he did eventually pay a lot of money who took him up on his bet.

I could have saved you time & effort by telling you that most of them are rich AF & enjoying their lives hanging out the back of high class hookers & burying their faces in piles of high quality blow.

From the early posts that I've read I think it is more likely that they have their heads buried deep into code rather than hookers and getting their highs from high quality innovation.

People who have been tag as scammer or untrusty is because this occurred before Theymos implement the Trust system.

That is, it was up to him to tell anyone who was not trustworthy. With the implementation of the system, this became decentralized. But it seems that some remained with a tag as is the case of Matthew N. Wright.

Matthew has an interesting story. At one point, he bet that the famous Trendon Shavers, aka "Pirate @ 40", would return the money he had stolen, and then, with the absurd value that the bet would cost, he said it was just a joke.

Don't think pirate will payout as promised?
If you truly believe that Pirate is a scam/ponzi, then this is a no-brainer easy money for you.

Post in this thread how much you're committing and I will double that amount you commit (maximum of 10,000BTC in bets allowed in this thread total) if Pirate does not pay out in 3 weeks as he described in his thread.

He still paid some people. But I do not know how much he has pay for the settlement.

I did not expect that a lot of donations were in 2017, it turns out that the minimum donation was $ 7900 and the maximum could be 200 000 $, and in 2018 there no donations at all, although half a year has passed.

It is still possible to make a small donation through the copper membership option. I don't think the forum currently needs funding since there would have been some surplus from the early days and the price of bitcoin went up a lot since then.

It seems to me that spam is just a symptom, and the reason is the crazy popularity growth of crypto currencies, everything is changing, perhaps at one time only constructive dialogues were conducted on this forum, but now there are plenty of newcomers, most of whom understand little about smart contracts, decentralization and crypto currencies in general and aims only to earn, is it bad? Of course it's bad, but maybe in a year or so, these people will start to study those things, and in five years they will be able to bring something of their own into the crypto community, in everything there can be positive sides.

All forums struggle with spam.  Bots have made it possible to spam faster than humans can remove it.

The "new crowd" may not understand how things work but do still have an important role. This is the BETA test stage. These people will break what can be broken, make mistakes that were not even considered and do things that are unimaginable. It will result in technology that will become grandma proof.

Crypto has gone through stages and this forum has documented those stages.

The initial stage - where the focus was creation of the code and blockchain
The implementation stage - debugging and developing processes and applications - exchanges and payment systems.
The copycat stage - the introduction of alts and development of alternative technologies.
The ICO stage and masternode marketing stage. Where tokens and masternodes are being used to get rich quick.

There is still a lot of good stuff on Bitcointalk -  it is just harder to find.

Watching the patrol page can be a bit disheartening. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=recent;patrol

Just single sentence comments with no substance and bounty replies.

Looking into the "oldies" that were on here - a lot of them are still around.

Who on this list is gone? (2013)

EDIT: Added clarification.

Some of the donators that were given a scammer tag prior to the trust system being introduced also lost their title when the new new trust system was introduced.

Quote
This person was given a scammer tag by a forum administrator prior to the existence of the trust system. This means that they were either a proven scammer, someone linked to a proven scammer by IP evidence, or someone with an account likely compromised by a known scammer. However, this information is very old and maybe not 100% accurate, so use this rating as only part of your trust judgement.
